Just curious where do you guys eat at Gatwick airport before security?

We are staying at the Hilton the night before & usually eat at the Garden restaurant in the hotel but was wondering where else we could go?

We always eat at Frankie & Benny's while at Gatwick.
Carl.

there is nowhere in the airport before security know at south side only option is the hotel or go to the north side

There's an upstairs area before you go through security that has several places to eat.

There are 2 Frankie and Bennies :)

We always eat at the Weatherspoons pub it has a good choice of food and its pretty cheap. We like it because you pay when you order and so theres no hanging around for the bill afterwards :goodvibes

When we went out in November they had the whole upstairs area blocked off for 'refurbishment' - we usually eat in F&B but were a bit stuck and ended up in the Garden Restaurant which we thought was over priced.

Next time we will try the North Terminal if it is still closed.

We always eat the night before in the airport at either f and b or weatherspoons, we always go 2 the south even if we're staying in the north.

Really? Are all the eateries in Gatwick Village at South Terminal now closed then?

Most of gatwick village was closed when we were there in Oct. DS was really disappointed not to get F&B after twilight check in

sadly there is nothing before security at the moment. i was very sad as had memorised the F&B cocktail menu. There are 2 restaurants before security at the other terminal but both shut pretty early and we are going after school so won't be at the hilton til late. so not looking good as we have a few kids with us. I wrote to Gatwick airport and they could give me no date when the work would be finished:scared1:

Goodness, you'd think they could give a rough idea? :confused3

We always eat at Frankie and Benny's  how dare they mess with our traditions!

In October we ended up paying £35 for 2 burgers and chips, a vvvv small glass of wine and a pint in the Hilton Restaurant because everything was shut in the South Terminal. Everything in the South Terminal shuts by 8pm at the moment,
We had had a h*ll off a day and I was waay too tired to walk over to the North Terminal.

If you go onto the Gatwick website it gives you all the opening times for the restuarants/shops etc. There seem to be only 2 places open after 6pm to eat - both in the North Terminal.

We are staying at the Hilton this Friday before flying out to Canada and I was determined not to pay £35 again!!

The only alternative would be a load of yummy snacks from the M&S?

If you are taking your car to gatwick you could always head into Crawley or Redhill or somewhere?

Not much of a drive and you'll find any restuarant you fancy.

Just emailed Gatwick and they are expecting more restaurants to open in April 2011. They didn't say which ones though.

hi all this year we are flying with thomas cook to sanford and have taken off our onboard flight meals as they are always bad just wondering were was the best place to get a sandwich snacks to take for the flight at airport

We were another fan of F&B and always ate there the night before flying. We are checking into the North Terminal this year as we are going with BA rather than Virgin, so we will get rid of our bags and see what the North Terminal has to offer, then jump on the monorail over to South for our night at the Hilton. Thankfully the monorail thingy runs 24 hours and is only a very short trip so wont be too bad (I hope!).

Last year we went to BK in the South Terminal as we were not prepared to pay Hilton prices for our dinner:eek: This year we had just planned to buy sandwiches from M&S and take them back to our room. Having said that, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for any resturants that are due to open befoe June;)
