Eating at Chefs de France?

We were considering doing Chefs de France next trip so that my mother will have a chance to meet Remy (Ratatouille is her FAVORITE movie) But I am not sure if I will be able to eat anything they offer, as I am a bit of a picky eater. But I want to see Remy, and I'd like to make my Mom happy, so I really don't know what to do? I was thinking about trying the cheese plate, and then picking out the menu items that I would most like. I've looked at the menu and here are the items I think I'd most enjoy:

Assiette de fromages de France - French imported cheese plate

Prix Fixe 3 Courses Menu
Salade au bleu - romaine hearts, blue cheese dressing, bacon, walnuts, croutons
Gratin de macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese
Dessert is easy for me. I won't have a probelm with that.

But I did read that they don't do substitutions? Is that true? Because I won't eat the walnuts in the salad, but that is pretty much it. How well is the salad mixed? Is it hard to get the nuts out?

If I don't think I'll eat anything there, we might just do a dinner at Akershus instead, or perhaps just go back to the hotel room and order pizza ;)
I want to try and eat there, just so my Mom will have the chance to meet Remy.

Thanks so much!

I took the no substitions as "I don't want that appetizer, can I have a different one not listed". You are just looking to omit an ingredient. I wouldn't think that would be a problem. My son hates nuts in salad so I am hoping that it wouldn't be a problem!

I would think when they say "no substituions" they mean when you order a dish, they cannot leave something out of it or add something. For example, they have braised short ribs with egg noodles and pearlized onions. You wouldn't be able to say "leave the pearlized onions out". I highly doubt you can get the salad without the walnuts since that is part of the menu. You have to keep in mind that these places serve hundred of people each day so the salad is probably pre-made in a big batch. Just pick the walnuts out. We ate there for the 1st time this past September and loved it! We did the 3 course meal and for my meal I go the braised short ribs with egg noodles and pearlized onions. I am not an onion fan so I just tried one and decided I didn't want the others so I just pushed them to the side of my plate.

Say you are allergic to nuts and they will make it for you without nuts. They would probably do it anyway, but with a little while lie they definitely will. No substations usually means you can't get something totally different, like get a ceasar salad, if that is not a prix fixe option.

The mac and cheese is delicious but tastes a little different than what people are used to b/c of the guyriere ( i know I messed up the spelling of that) cheese. We love Chefs and Remy is so cute!!

That's why they say "The Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Food and Beverage team is committed to offering a wide range of options to accommodate Guests with food allergies or intolerances. Please notate any food allergies and intolerances at the time of booking your dining reservation. Guests are also welcome to speak to a chef or a manager on duty when arriving at the dining location. Learn more about how we can help accommodate special dietary needs."

You probably know this already, but Remy at Chefs in not a traditional m&g/character meal. Remy is a small animatronic figure that is rolled around the dining room on a cart.

These are the current days and times for seeing Remy: Monday-Saturday at 12:30, 1:40, 2:50 & 5:20pm

DW and I are both picky eaters and we got a meal re-scheduled there because we had a reservation cancelled somewhere else. It was not our first choice but we both got the chicken dinner and it was one of the best meals we had got at DW and we also got some special seating for illuminations... very good expeirence.

In Disney, no substitutions means that you can't substitute a different appetizer, entree, dessert, or side item in place of what they are already offering on a fixed menu. They will gladly omit items, when possible, and nuts are usually one of those items.

OP, order what you're planning to get. I had an almost idential meal (cheese plate and mac & cheese w/ dessert) in October & I'm still raving about it! I think you'll really enjoy it & your mother will be a happy lady. :goodvibes Have a great trip!!!

I have ordered that very salad without the dressing, so I think without nuts would be no problem.

have you loooked at the childrens menu?
i have only eaten here once and got the chicken fingers and plain pasta off of the kids menu. i plan to do that next month too..
we go here because my husband loves the french onion soup so hes happy and i can eat something light to hold me over to dinner
