I will be going to Disney World for 2 months after weight loss surgery. We want to do some special meals like Fantasmic Dining, Dining with Shamu and 1900 Park Fare (buffet!) but I will be eating VERY small portions and these are expensive meals! We are staying at Sheraton Vistana Resort so I guess I could try bringing home a doggie bag but does any one have any other suggestions? I mean, $40-50 per person is alot for someone who will be eating toddler sized portions. Thanks!

Hi! I am almost at my 3 year mark after weight loss surgery, and 120#s lighter!! Anyway, I still don't eat as much as a "regular" person, and when my husband and I go out to eat around our town, I always take a doggie bag.
That being said, we go to Disney World 2-3 times a year, and I think you just have to chalk it up to money spent. You can choose not to go out to eat, or eat counter service meals and share, or you can suck it up and spend the money. I am not trying to sound harsh, I just go with the state of mind that I am on vacation, and its for my whole family.
If you are not doing the dining plan, you can go to regular restaurants and share a meal with someone else. Buffet and family style meals are different, but I take a little bit of each and enjoy myself. For me I guess that I look at it more as a time to relax with and enjoy my family while we are on vacation, and I can enjoy myself so much more now that I am healthy!!
Good luck with your surgery, I really hope that it all goes well for you, and that you have a great time on your vacation!

I have read that some people who have had the surgery ......they brought a note from their doctor and it stated about the weight loss surgery......and I believe that they have been able to order from the childrens side of the menu.....and also the childrens buffet price too......If I am wrong someone will correct me I am sure......but I do remember reading this...

I would love to hear if anyone can confirm regarding child's buffet price w/ dr note as I too will have surgery before my next visit. If this is not the case, I would try to minimize the buffets and consider appetizer or child portions, or even sharing.

Your surgeon can give you a card that states you need smaller portions due to WLS. You can also find a card that is printable at obesity help website. Some restaurants will honor these cards. Some will not ask for a card if you tell them you had the surgery they will let you order from the kids or senior menu.
