Me and DH would be interested in seeing these at Epcot-we have never heard of them in the UK, but I like what I have seen on Youtube! Does anyone have any idea how popular they are, and how long we would have to get in line for to see them? I have never done a ETTB concert before-we don't have any Epcot meals booked on the days they are performing so Dining Package would be out.
Any tips gratefully appreciated! Oh, and do they do I Wanna be like you? Or do Disney stop them?

It is usually pretty easy to get into these concerts, even a few minutes beforehand. If you want to be down front, you would need to be earlier. If you just want to hear it, you can just hang out around the American Adventure pavilion. Grab a snack or a drink and just stand around (not in the walkways of course). I can't imagine Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will be extremely popular (they had some success when the Swing style music was big in the late 90's or so). I wouldn't stress to hard about it. They do several shows every afternoon too, and they're usually the same material. There's no need to over plan it.

I didn't know they recorded I Wanna Be Like You. I can't imagine Disney would prohibit them from performing it at Epcot if they wanted to.

Thanks for that. Maybe we'll just wander along and see what happens-I assumed it would be like Candlelight Processional and people would be queuing for hours

Oh, no, they're not nearly like the Candlelight Processional! Maybe some of the bigger acts will have a bit of a queue to get the front seats (some of the rear seats in that amphitheater are blocked by trees), but in general, no, they are not as popular as the CP.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy plays the festival every year so they are popular and have their fans but they're definitely not going to bring out as many people like Boys II Men or Air Supply. As others said, getting a seat is easy, getting a seat near the front will require being early.

Check out "Mr. Heat Miser" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on YouTube. It's my favorite of their songs.

To each their own , but a few years ago I planned my vacation for F&W around the BBVD schedule!!!

LOVE, love, love them!!!

Pardon me, but what is being stated here is far from what we experienced last November for BBVD concerts. DH and I came in for a long weekend just to see them. We saw all three shows on one of their nights. The first show we got reserved seating with an Eat To The Beat dining package, stood stand-by for the 2nd show, and had Chase Visa reserved seating for the third show. Every single show was packed in, no seats remaining. It is NOT easy to get a seat for their shows.

Most shows definitely fill up and it might be somewhat difficult to get a seat if you show up 5-10 minutes before showtime but for most groups if you get there 25-30 minutes before youll have no issues getting a seat, the theater holds a lot of people.25-30 minutes is relatively speaking not getting there early,I've been to hundreds of these shows going back 15+ years and I remember years ago seeing people in line at 12-1pm for a 5:45 show, but back then and today those are the hardcore locals who do this, people on vacation are not taking hours off their vacation for these shows. There's all kinds of variables such as the last show is usually the least busy and even though most shows fill up by showtime many of the 8pm shows you'll see empty seats near the back after the show starts,I saw a good amount of 8pm shows at last years festival that the theater was only half to 3/4 full. Also the first shows lately have the theater open to people and many of them get there at 2-3 pm and they basically hang out there and stake a claim to tneir seats and watch the 3:45 and 5:00 American Music machine shows that precede the concert which starts at 5:30,this is much better than when you had people standing in the line for hours under the hot sun, many of them seniors, but it is bad if you intend to get there 1 hour before to get a seat up front as those hardcore locals will be there to get the best seats. In the end its all relative, last year I saw 25 of the 26 groups, only missed Living Colour as I was running a marathon out of town and as long as you know the basics of which shows are busier and that there's a handful of groups that really pack the place quickly you know that for those you need to get there a good bit earlier.Like I said at showtime for most groups the 5:30 show is always going to be full, but there is a difference in how fast it fills up for a Boys II Men show and a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show. They'll both fill up the 1st and 2nd shows,Boys II Men will just fill it up much quicker and for the third show a Boys II Men show will still be packed while a BBVD show might have a few empty seats in the back corners, they are popular, much more than many other groups I saw at the festival last year, they're just not in the handful of the most popular groups. Its just like trying to describe how busy it gets at MK or a Halloween Horror night at Universal, its always packed but when you're there all the time you know the difference of "packed" and "PACKED".

I would LOVE to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. I think they played in the Macy's parade several years ago (?) DS is a huge fan, but he's a professional freelance jazz musician in NYC, so they kind of "fit" his style, it seems. Don't know how popular they are with the main stream.
