Did anyone see the Ad for channel 2's special report "Eat at your own risk." a special look inside disneyworld and all the health code violations!!!!!!! WOW sorry didnt catch the time and date its gonna be on, anyone anyone anyone.

As I Was Watching The Grammys, I felt the same way WOW!!!!!!. The segment is going to be on Monday February 9th at 11pm on CBS. I am in the Northeast, so I don't know what time it will be on everywhere else. Just more bad publicity for Disney. Somebody in the food division dept. better do something real quick, because I hope for their sake, but mostly ours that this won't be as bad as it sounds. Knowing Channel 2 and watching reports like this they have done in the past, I have a very, VERY bad feeling about this segment.

thanks DisneyFans20 for actually paying attention unlike me, too crazy to get online and post that i didnt pay attention.

Is this story going to be on a national news show, or is it a local story? I'd be interested in the angle taken, or if it will end up being a bashing.

It will be on a local newscast on WCBS, Channel 2, which is the local CBS-affiliated (and CBS-owned) TV station in New York City. That does not mean it will on shown across the entire CBS televsion network, which is a national TV network.

It should wind up here for anyone who wants to take a look: http://cbsnewyork.com/shamestories/

I am sure it is nothing that doesnt happen everywhere else. You wouldnt believe the how many health code violations your favorite restaurant has received over the years.

Agree. They could do a show like this on their own cafeteria, not to mention virtually every restaurant and restaurant chain in the U.S.
AT one time or other, they ALL had (and will have) problems.

.... but I don't think it would change my eating habits at WDW. Last year DW and I probably ate 75 meals on-property- all price levels - and never once were disappointed or felt ill.

Several years ago my DW was a manager a local WAWA (similar to a 7-11) and went thru extensive training about the "things" that grow and bred behind the deli counter. The instructor brought up the subject of headaches. How many times have you had an annoying little headache for no apparent reason, couple asprine knock it right out ? Chances are it was a mild case of food poisoning. She came away from the classes swearing she'd never eat another hoggie or store bought potatoe salad. That commitment lasted about a week.

I'll try and watch tonight. It will be interesting to see what they found and whether they are major items or the kind of health code violations your local health department could probably find in your own kitchen. I'm with Viking, in the almost 13 years and hundreds of meals we've had at WDW we have never had a food related problem or gotten sick.

I saw the same add on our local CBS station here in Philly, KYW 3. They are also running the piece tongight on the local 11pm news.

They seemed to se showing people eating hot dogs, hamburgers and french fries. We know this stuff is unhealthy, but I can get the same at any local fast food chain?? I'll probably tape the news, as I go to bed before it comes on.

after 30 years of visiting this place, I never got sick either! :D

I think if we all knew what really went on with the foods we eat, we all would become thin very soon! ;)
Any restaurant has some horror story behind it.

doombuggy, I saw the same ad run on Eyewitness News and my first thought was:

Who used this scheme to get a free trip to Disney?

I'm going to watch tonight out of curiousity. But after all the times I've eaten and WDW and never gotten sick, I'm sure the problems are not any different than any other restaurant anywhere in the country.

Every sweeps month CBS runs these kinds of stories. Last week they did a report on the conditions at the "romantic" restaurants in NYC -- just in time for Valentine's day. They seem to count on these reports for ratings boosts. Every so often they'll throw in reports on the sanitary conditions at area grocery stores, too.

I just want to watch to see the video of WDW. It's been a long time since I was there and I can't wait until December when I'm going!!!!

crusader, you are probably 100% correct there!

i hope my dad doesn't watch tonight, they are going for a long weekend on Thursday. I am sure Boma and Flying Fish are on his list. They are going to US & IOA - maybe CBS needs to do an expose on them too!!!!!!!!!!:p

hey many years of working in fast food joints while going through college, saw many health code violations.....non of which were anything of significants. before believing what the "numbers" say see what the violations were.....

stupidest one was when i worked for sonic drive in....we'd bring our own food in to cook breakfast for the crew on weekends when we were doing prep.....ya know, bacon, eggs, sausage, milk and OJ, and we would buy bulk burritoes as free food for anyone with out money to eat while on break ( hey we had a manager with a soft heart....also kept food theft down..=D, and yes these were from the same vendor our stuff we actually sold to customers came from.....

seems in oklahoma theres a rule on the books about store bought food in the walkins and freezers....we didnt know this...well inspectors came in got us on some very minor cleaning things....the way we were storing towels to go to the washing company and there was a crewers drinking cup to near the chemical closet.... they didnt even blink a second time at this stuff...

but when they went in to check freezer/walk-in temps they saw a zip lock bag of 4 burritoes in the walk in ( thawing so they would cook faster) on the bottom shelf, they through a absolute fit over this...never said anything about the gallon of milk and og and half carton of eggs.....ya know the stuff that was open to air in there,. the zip lock was sealed and still frozen.....

well that went on the perm record when the cleaning issues didnt....makes ya wonder what there actually looking for....

well eat at sonic its a great place....and at least at the one in Newcastle OK, there awsome, Renee may be the tightest manager in the business but she knows how to run a restraunt.... not to bad for a carhop on the job after 6 mo that got manager position by default because the previouse one walked out, shes been there for over 20 years know..=D

awsome woman.

I'm shocked after watching this report! When i first saw the ad, i was thinking, what theme park company paid cbs to make this report. I have ate at all of those restaurants and me nor my family got sick. I do agree with the lady that it is outstanding that disney got only 8 reports of sickness in 2003 because I have seen restaurants around me got more reports than that. I just hope that disney won't get any more bad publicity.

Hey, how about some details of the report for those of us whose CBS station runs local news, so we didn't see the report.

The only violation that was cited (multiple times - so I assume it was the only kind of violation) was food at various restaurants being "held at dangerous temperatures". Of all health code violations this is the most common I believe, and with all the buffets and such it doesn't surprise me that it was found. Disney should strive for better however.

The report also cited the whopping 8 cases of food related illness complaints isued against Disney in 2003. 8 cases out of how many milions of meals? Doesn't surprise me either. Looks like CBS tried to dig up all 8 people who filed complaints. Don't think they got them all. Perhaps what looked like the most damaging item in the whole report had to do with one of those people who filed a complaint who was subsequently paid money and signed a confidentiality agreement. The report couched it as "being paid not to talk". Didn't look great for Disney IMHO.

In Disney's defense one of their food safety managers pointed out Disney good record considering how many meals they serve a year......but acknowledged that one sick guest is one too many. The Disney rep also pointed out that the Health Department routinely uses Disney as a training ground and model for proper procedure. In response to one of the families that had gotten sick on the same night at the Cape May Cafe the rep pointed out that no other guests got sick that night so it likely wasn't a restaurant wide food problem that night. In most of the instances of complaints there were no findings at the subject restaurants when the Health Department investigated the complaint.

There is no disputing there were violations. 130 in all during 2003. However, the report struck me more as headline grabbing and didn't cause me any concern.
