Would you share your sausage and cabbage stew recipe, please?

It's in the crockpot as we speak! :thumbsup2 No so much a recipe as a bunch of "stuff" thrown in the crockpot together: smoked sausage, chunks of cabbage, peeled and quartered potatoes, peeled and chunked carrots, chicken broth, salt, pepper, and Emeril's Essence. We will have leftover cornbread from last night with it.

Tonight is taco night in our house, ground beef hard and soft tacos with all the fixings and Spanish Rice.

I changed jobs, less hours but I am now working every day of the week. We've been treating ourselves to a meal out on the weekends, but it's more enterainment than coming from the grocery budget. We just feel like we all need a break after our crazy scheduled weekdays!

Sunday- Olive Garden! (but enough leftovers for three lunches this week at work!)
Monday- Mexican soup, cornbread
Tuesday- Tacos, apple slices
Wednesday- Blueberry pancakes, eggs, turkey bacon
Thursday- Shrimp alfredo, salad
Friday- BLT's, pears, carrots and celery sticks

Yum...that sounds like something we need to try soon.

Dinner Tonight:

Chicken and Noodles (chicken from freezer)
Green Beans (in the crock pot right now)
Cheesy Cressant Rolls

We are celebrating "Family Week", an idea I got from a meal planning web site I am subscribed to. Each night has been a different dinner table activity.

*We drew names for secret pals on Monday night

*Tuesday night we decorated a family mail box to encourage everyone to leave special "pick-me-up" notes for each other (we check the mail every night at dinner now)

* last night we had "get to know me" type questions like: if left on an island, what three items would you take with you? what do you like most about your best friend? and if you had a genie in a bottle what would your three wishes be?

*tonight we take dinner to the floor...it's carpet picnic night

*tomorrow night each family member has 10 minutes to grab items to donate to charity and toss them in a bag

*Saturday night is the grand finale...a backyard bonfire for roasting hot dogs and marshmallow, and we will reveal secret pals.

The kids have LOVED finding out what the activity will be when they sit down to dinner each night. Even DH has really had a good time with it.

Okay, so I have been DISing for almost a year now and I STILL cannot figure out how to put a ticker in my signature!!!! :headache: I have created the ticker, but am unsure what "url" to use or where to put it. Everytime I try to post one under my signature it just adds the url address to the signature, not the actual ticker. :confused3 HELP!

Tonight we are having roast. I put it in the crockpot late because we have some running around after school.
Tomorrow-its just dd and I so take out(we havent eaten out in 2 1/2 weeks)
Saturday-Dh is coming home and requested something on the grill, so chicken it is
Sunday-Il's are taking us out to eat.

It is a busy day around here so we are eating out tonight. I have a coupon for a free chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A so we will probably stop there.

Hubby went to class tonight, I have no idea what he ate. ;)

My girls had bean tacos-- cheap, healthy and filling. And I had some nacho chips with some left over chili. Lucky me hubby had made the chili bean free, not his norm. But I'm allergic to beans and sometimes he does that for me. :thumbsup2

We've been eating a lot of salad lately too. It's been so good and I just keep getting in the mood to have it. Oh, and celery and humus, another fresh food craving I've been getting. Yum!

Tacos after soccer for us tonight. :thumbsup2 If you like chicken tacos I have a great recipe. I got it from allrecipes.com It's very easy & pretty healthy too.

1 (16 ounce) jar salsa
1 (1.25 ounce) package dry taco seasoning mix
1 lime, juiced
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
3 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

Place the salsa, taco seasoning, lime juice, and cilantro into a slow cooker, and stir to combine. Add the chicken breasts, and stir to coat with the salsa mixture. Cover the cooker, set to High, and cook until the chicken is very tender, about 4 hours. If desired, set cooker to Low and cook 6 to 8 hours. Shred chicken with 2 forks to serve.

It was really good. My husband made it again a few days later at the fire house and the guys there loved it too. (That's how I found out it was healthy, they have some health freaks on the dept. :lmao:)

What is the website you go to for meal planning ideas? I love your family week activities!

Tonight we are having cheese ravioli with chicken sausages, arugula salad, and garlic bread.

I am have sleep night now and not sure that even made sense. LOL

-Friday night we had Chicken Scallopine from Pioneer Woman's website with angel hair pasta

-We ate at Burger King with coupons last night (cashier took 2 and 1 of them was not exactly what we ordered, but hey she offered) - For $17 we got a Whopper, a Whopper JR, 10 piece chicken nuggets, chicken sandwich value meal, additional chicken sandwich, 3 additional small fries, 3 additional small sodas, 2 pies and an ice cream cone!

-Tonight we had pork chops with apples onions and sweet potatoes (from allrecipes - simple, healthy dinner, very easy)

-tomorrow I'm going to make Pioneer Woman's Hot and Sweet Drumsticks, but I'm going to use boneless chicken instead because I've made that recipe in the past, and it was really good, but my family hates drumsticks :confused3, and mashed potatoes and frozen veggie mix.

-Tuesday I think might be left overs, or I do have some cooked meatballs in sauce in the freezer I could maybe make meatball subs with

and then Wednesday I get paid, so I am working on the next 2 weeks of meals right now so I can prepare a list and shop for it on Wednesday

Another thing I did this past week was made twice baked potatoes--enough for 4 dinners. We had them with dinner the day I made them, and I froze 3 additional batches. Hopefully they taste as good defrosted and baked.

Last night- brown rice and shrimp stir fry... not a ton of shrimp in it, just right with frozen shrimp we had bought through costco. They have decent quality for their prices. There was also a frozen stir-fry veggie mix involved as well as some fresh baby bok choy, some dried wood ear mushrooms and some fresh mushrooms

Eggs from the farm this morning--scrambled with a bit of cheese, salsa and sauteed onion and peppers. The onion and peppers were from a different farmer than the eggs. ;)

left over stir-fry for lunch after church today. So fast and satisfying.

When I was a kid my parents would just do popcorn on Sunday nights and let my brother and I watch Disney movies on TV, which was pure awesome. I have to admit that I get disappointed from time to time that I am the only person in my family now that wants popcorn on Sunday nights. :happytv:

So tonight had to be food I would not be disappointed in. :rotfl: We had beer, cheese and sausage soup for dinner. It was made from scratch this afternoon. We had a bit before we went to church services this evening and a bit after we got home as well. This was originally from a recipe in one of my Marcia Adams cookbooks, but we have adapted it to be a gluten free recipe now. and it is mmm, mmm good, although not quite as awesome tonight as normal. I didn't have any gluten free beer in the house so that got left out. I'm just not really a drinker so I have to remember to add it to the shopping list if I expect to be able to make the soup.
