Nice work cleaning everything out and making your lists! Thats what I need to do. Last week I paid full price for 2 things I needed only to later find them in the back of my stockpile!

we're still sticking to eating at home....we feasted on left overs last night and still have some. This coming week I am going to make lots of crockpot meals...seems to warm the house up.

still going strong - last night we had chicken and dumplings (leftovers) over shell pasta - it was better the second time around!! Working on my menu and list for the week....

ok got my menu together....
looks like some are repeats but they really aren't, some I've posted I haven't gotten around to cooking!!

saturday ~ crockpot lasagna, salad, bread
sunday ~ crockpot pepperonci sands, cole slaw, pasta salad
monday ~ ribs, rice, veggie
tuesday ~ tomato soup, grilled cheese, salad
wednesday ~ smoky chipotle chicken tacos, mexican rice, beans
thursday ~ scalloped chicken, veggie, salad
friday ~ shrimp stir fry, rice

here's to the new week!

Tonight was the first time I was tempted. Hubby was supposed to be out riding his horse but, due to the cold, decided last minute that he'd stay home. My planned solo dinner (PB&J) wasn't going to cut it and he suggested going out for barbeque. I was this close to saying YES! but pulled together a meal instead:

Tiny serving of leftover pulled pork from the freezer mixed into homemade BBQ beans with baked sweet potatoes, biscuits and a salad made with diced apple, lettuce from the garden and raspberry vinagrette.

So I'm four for four. That doesn't sound like much but we were eating out or getting take-out at least three or four times a week. :)

Mac and cheese

It's not my favorite but it's good
Half a block of velveta cutup in cubes
One cup milk
Three tablesspoons butter
Three tablespoons flour
One box of pasta

Cook pasta and set aside
Pre heat oven to 350
In a sauce pan on med heat melt butter add flour cook 2 mins
Pour in milk stir and thicken about 3 minor so add cheese and stir to combine all together until it's a cheese sauce. You could add a dash or tow of your favorite hot suave too it you wanted. Pour over pasta in a casserole dish you could put some crackers on top if you like bake about 20 mins

We had the Cincinnati chili my mom made yesterday over baked potatoes with cheese and sour cream. We also had a spinach salad on the side.

Tomorrow my mom's cousin is coming up for the weekend and we are having him, my grandma, and Aunt over for dinner. We are having peppersteak stir fry over rice.

I am also a part of the January "No-Buy" thread. Our goal is to eat out only once a week.....

I just finished making out my grocery list for the week. Tonight we will be going to Outback to use a gift card from Christmas.

Sunday - meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans
Monday - chicken tacos and fruit salad
Tuesday - pasta and peas recipe that I saw on another thread
Wednesday - vegetable soup in the Crock-Pot
Thursday - pork chops and baked sweet potatoes
Friday - Hawaiian chicken over rice and steamed broccoli

I had a few changes to the menu last week. My mom fixed dinner for us on Thursday, so I froze the pork chops. Then we had a lot going on yesterday(Friday) so we made our eat out night last night and having the Hawaiian chicken tonight.

Here is this week's menu:

Sunday - dinner at Mom's house. :cool1:
Monday - homemade red beans and rice (will eat out for lunch)
Tuesday - breakfast for dinner
Wednesday - I have book club will eat there: dh and boys will have chicken nuggets and a veggie
Thursday - fixing a turkey breast in the crockpot/ mashed potatoes/ steamed broccoli
Friday - leftovers---- probably turkey sandwiches and chips
Saturday - eat out day. Will probably use our gift card from Outback.

We had a couple of changes this week. We never got around to the Paprika chicken since the boys wanted a pasta salad and today grandma took us out to dinner.
Here is the menu for next week:

1/16 Brats w/potato pancakes
1/17 Spaghetti w/meat sauce
1/18 Tacos
1/19 Paprika Chicken
1/20 Leftover chicken
1/21 Fish Sticks
1/22 Macaroni Grill pasta w/Chicken Sausages

We had our pepper steak tonight for dinner and boy did it taste good. My mom used to make it all the time when I was younger and we had not had it in forever.

Tomorrow night will either be ham steak with mac and cheese or chicken enchiladas. Depends on my mood tomorrow.

Did okay until the weekend (I ate out 4 times in 2 days--a deli, Hawaiian BBQ, a bistro, and Skippers. I didn't pay for all of them, but even so, that's some pretty unhealthy eating I got into. Back on the wagon, though)

Sunday--turkey, cream cheese, and cranberry paninis
Monday--spagetti
Tuesday--black bean soup and rolls
Wednesday--teriyaki chicken and rice
Thursday--hot dogs
Friday--scampi

Uuggg....well, I broke down and had delivery Friday night. It was from a local place that is great and it was great, but soooo expensive. $55 for 3 entrees, 2 apps., tip and delivery fee. I guess that really isn't too bad compared to WDW.

Yesterday was back on track. Had chicken salads for lunch and grilled shrimp and long grain wild rice for dinner. Now, I'm trying to figure something out for tonight. Nothing sounds good. I think I'm bored with everything, but gotta get through this. I love this thread for inspiration!

Sunday: Chicken thighs w/onion, tomatoes and mushrooms over rice and peas
Monday: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans;
Tuesday: Kids= pork fried rice and dumplings and Parents= pork stir fry;
Wednesday: Some sort of fish, rice pilaf and salad;
Thursday: Roast with veggies in crockpot;
Friday: Kids= pizza and Parents= left over roast and veggies over egg noodles

Good luck everyone!!!

Sunday morning after church has a been time that we go to out for breakfast with some friends. Luckily, they have been busy lately or we have. It is helping our pocketbook.

Tomorrow is grocery day! I don't have to start my Monday night classes for another week due to the holiday! So here is my menu so far for this upcoming week.

1/18 Honey Mustard Pork Chops, Angle Hair Pasta, Glazed Carrots
1/19 French Toast, Sausage, Cantaloupe
1/20 Minestrone Soup (crockpot), Fresh bread
1/21 Salmon with Couscous/Rice
1/23 Marinated Steak, Baked Potato, Salad

I made my grocery list and the largest part of the list is for fresh fruit and vegetables. That is the sort of thing I am aiming for.

and really - bfast = cheaper than dinner!!! if going out.

beteen this and the no buy thread I am learning ALOT, thank you all!!!!!

having everything on hand is key, the crockpot is a must for busy nights and I really like my money in the bank istead of forking it over to a restaurant!! I am so happy the kids and dh are on board.......and dh gets to take good leftovers for lunch instead of a loaf of bread and bologna!!
