Today is our grocery shopping day too! We just got home from Giant Eagle ~ gotta love an extra day off school!!

We were going to go shopping today but we had to clean up a little water in our basement instead. I was surprised to see N.O. had no school but with flooding and no phones it made sense. Tomorrow we will shop at Giant Eagle. They have some great sales items this week.

Tonight I am improvising dinner. We were suppossed to go shopping but did not. So I got some chicken noodle soup out of the freezer and to go with it my mom had about half of her cobb salad left from last night that she says we can split. At least I am not ordering out.

I'm doing really well this week. Sunday night I made baked balsalmic chicken breasts, last night a cheeseburger pasta skillet and tonight a stir fry. The balsalmic chicken and cheeseburger skillet were both new things I tried and they were both a big hit in my house! :thumbsup2

My dh went food shopping for me yesterday due to a huge migraine yesterday.:scared1: he did really well he even used 10$ worth of coupons ;)

So this is what we have for this week
Tonight chicken with rice
Wed spaghetti and sauce
Thur chicken tacos
Fri pizza and a movie
Also making a pasta salad and some jello and chocolate chip bars

Also trying something new for this month I always feel like I failed if I eat out so instead of tracking how many days in a row I am just keeping track of how many I do and don't for the month

Hope you're feeling better. I hate when I get those they are so debilitating

I had a ton of fresh tomatoes someone had given us (they were leaving for vacation) so I made a no cook pasta sauce yesterday. It has been marinating in the fridge all night. I will make penne to go with it and carrot and celery sticks for dipping into ceasar dressing.

I also will make some banana blueberry oat muffins to keep on hand.

Thanks I am feeling better but weak. :)

Went and did our grocery shopping this morning. I spent $75.27 and saved $35.39 in coupons. About $20 of that was household items though. The plan for the week is..

Tonight- Hot dogs with german potato salad
Wednesday- Beef stew in the crock pot
Thursday- French toast with canadian bacon and fruit salad
Friday- Baked potatoes with chili
Saturday- Crock pot sweet potato and pork casserole
Sunday- Stirfried chicken paprikash
Monday- Crock pot potato and corn chowder

This weeks meals, though in no real order because it depends on the weather/how much homework I have to do:

Tonight will be sandwiches with chips, potato salad, and pasta salad

Fried Eggs, Ham, Fried Potatoes, fruit, and toast

Enchiladas and Mexi Corn

Steaks with Shallot Pan Sauce, Crash Hot Potatoes, Parma Spinach, and Salad

Chicken, Onion, Pepper, and Pineapple Kabobs and Rice Pilaf

I am also going to start going back to making a treat a week. Some sort of sweet that we can have around the house instead of buying a bunch of junk. Thinking some Lemon Bars or something easy like that... plus, I have a Kitchen Aid Mixer to try out still!

Well tonight was ok. I made chicken breasts with Italian dressing a pasta salad corn and rice. For dessert we had the choice of jello or this brownie bar mix. It's a brownie on the bottom with a chocolate chip cookie dough baked on top. They are good. I feel like I am in a rut. I am going to google my recipes for next week.
So far we are 1 for 1 day of no eating out!

I just tried MacFam4's honey chicken wings in the crock pot. YUMMY. My kids were fighting over them. THose are a keeper.

I'm going to officially join in on this! I've been reading occasionally/following this as best as I can for a while. I am working 6 out of 7 nights from 3/4-3/11 7 pm-7 am, so really it is essential to have some sort of plan in place. :wizard:

So this is the menu I came up with for the next week:
Slow Cooker pepper steak
Ham and cheesy potatoes, pineapple sauce, broccoli , biscuits
hot dogs, baked beans, French fries, sauerkraut
tacos with lettuce/tomato/sour cream/guacamole
Pork chops with mushroom sauce, roasted potatoes or mashed potatoes
pasta and meatballs, garlic bread
chicken piccatta with artichokes

Most of the meat I have frozen in my freezer, just need to get veggies and a few other things from the store tomorrow.

We ended up stopping for a late lunch at our favorite restuarant since we were on that side of town for my mom's eye appointment. So instead of making beef stew we had the french toast tonight and will do beef stew tomorrow.

I went shopping on Wednesday. I had a really tight budget of $60.00 I spent $58.00. I also saved $20.00 in manufacturer coupons. I got some really good deals too. I bought 4lbs of chicken thighs for .98/lb. I used a few in my chicken tortilla soup last night and froze 3 batches.

Here is my menu for the next few days.

Chicken tortilla crock pot soup last night
crock pot beef stew (great for St. Paddy's day too)
chicken and rice (arroz con pollo) over the weekend
brocolli chicken and peanut butter and shrimp egg rolls
hamburgers and mushroom soup over rice
chicken patties with homemade oven fries

Well, I just got a pin for free dining the other day so now our trip this May will be even more special...YAY~pixiedust:

I went food shopping yesterday and I spent $60 saved about $50 and got $24 in Catalinas (free money certificates) from ShopRite...WOOHOO!

Tonight we are having...
Oven baked buffalo chicken wings with roasted broccoli and potatoes. Tomorrow night I believe I will be making crockpot sausage stew and homemade bread.

It is VERY cold here in NY 10* right now, I should bake some cookies too. Have a beautiful day everyone:flower3:

I'm in CT and I do shoprite too. Those Catalina deals are killing me though! I spent $100 least week and $60 this week doing the deals. Hopefully for the next 4 weeks though my grocery bill will be next to nothing. Do you follow the thread on Slickdeals about the shoprite deals? You should it makes it much easier. PM me if you want the link. Yeah Brr abound here today. It's a soup day I think!

lunch was the hard one for us too. But what helps is mixing it up. So some days it's leftovers, other days it's just a sandwich, or soup and a sandwich, or grilled cheese, or pizza. As long as I have options in the house it doesn't seem like a sacrifice. What do you go for when you go out? Salads? Have that stuff on hand. Burgers, I always have turkey burgers ready to go.

Usually when we get take out its something that I can't make. For me my weak spot is sushi. We need to start eating more salads again.

Sushi at the grocery store around here is actually good. One of them(not all of them:sick:) Even buying that to have on hand is cheaper than going out.

March 1 no eat out day

Lunch is a hard one for me as well. I usually try to make enough of something in order to have left overs. For example, I made chicken kabobs last night on the grill. So for lunch today my plan is to make a quesadilla with the chicken, some red onion, and cheese. Then for "dinner" tonight (I have class at 7, so I eat something about 4:30ish), I will just eat some of the chicken, peppers, onions, and rice from last night. I might add some feta cheese or hot sauce to the mixture though.

I also keep english muffins, tortillas, and bread on hard with lunch meat, cheese, and fixings. The english muffins and tortillas can be used to make "pizzas" or wraps with the left overs of whatever I have in the fridge. On top of that I have soup in the freezer and cabinets, some frozen meals, and some noodles if I want something more then sandwiches.

Then I always have fruit, vegetables with dip (salsa, hummus, ect), chips, and some sort of "salad" (pasta, couscous, bean, ect) to have to go with anything I make. A sandwich is so much more interesting if you have something tasty to go with it!
