How do you make cresent chicken square??

Here you go! This is for 4 servings.

* 1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
* 1-½ cup Cooked Chopped Chicken
* ¾ blocks Cream Cheese
* 3 Tablespoons Butter
* ¼ teaspoons Onion Powder
* 2 Tablespoons Milk
* 1 dash Salt
* 1 dash Pepper

Preparation Instructions

Mash cream cheese and butter together.
Mix in onion powder, milk, salt and pepper.
Stir chopped chicken into mixture.

Separate Crescent rolls into 4 rectangles. You can pinch together the perforated line to ensure that none of the mixture leaks out.

Spoon a generous amount of chicken mixture into the center of each rectangle.

Close the pocket by pulling all 4 corners together at the top and again pinch together the seams to be sure that none of the mixture leaks out.

Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

You know, that is what is great about at least TRYING to eat at home as much as possible. Since you are not spending (wasting) the money eating out as often, when a situation comes up like yours, it makes the decision less of an issue. It's not "Oh lord, we have eaten out 5 times this week"... it's "Stuff happens and we at out once". At least for me, by eating at home as much as I can, it means the occasional eating out doesn't make me feel as guilty about the decision.

great post! We used to eat out 3x a week but now it's more like twice a month. Today DH called from work saying let's go out to eat but I had already cooked our dinner at 2pm and said no thanks, I'll take a raincheck:thumbsup2

I am so glad you posted this. I actually used to make them years ago and completely forgot about them. Thanks for the reminder.

One thing that has helped us eat home during the week more is that I have cooked in bulk and froze many meals. At the beginning of the month I went graocery shopping, spent just over $150, and we have been eating most of our meals from that. Got much on sale at the time, and it really wasn't anymore difficult to cook a few extra batches instead of only one. On that day I made mac&cheese, pasta with eggplant, lasagna, beef stew, chili, extra batches of sauce for other pasta meals. I still go to the grocery store to pick up perishables and fresh fruit, and maybe something else the family is craving for me to cook, but bulk cooking has helped a lot.

Been a rough weekend here. I have the stomach flu so I have been sticking to chicken rice soup. Mom got Chinese last night with a friend.

Tonight we are going to wait and see how I feel before comitting.

Thanks for that, you're right it happens pretty rarely that we eat out like that. We did go to Chilis for lunch this Saturday too. DH said "lets go out to lunch, we never do anything" Not sure what thats supposed to mean since we do all kinds of stuff just not a lot of eating out. But to keep the marriage happy we had Chilis for lunch on saturday. Let me tell you thats $40 I could have found a better use for! I suppose if I look at it as $40 to keep my DH happy though then it's priceless :lovestruc

Last night I made homemade pizza
Tonight pasta with meatsauce
Tomorrow night a quick stovetop/oven version of chicken pot pie
Wed night I think I will make a baked ziti?
Thursday night Chili?

My boyfriend and I went out last night to celebrate his new job. We spent WAY too much money and I already feel a bit guilty about it (especially since I just had to get new tires on the car). So far for next week we may go out for lunch on Tuesday, but it will be for under $25 I am sure.

Need to actually go finish the grocery shopping for this next week (couldn't find Naan bread at my normal store, so a 20 min trip to get it), then prep for the week as well.

yesterday my grandmother gave me a turkey. i am off tommorrow and the turkey has been thawing since sunday, so tommorrow i plan on cooking it. any leftovers are going to be frozen and i am going to make turkey rice soup (nice for lunches). sunday i made sauce with italian sausage and meatballs in the crockpot. it will also be enough for several meals (at least 3).

tonight-spaghetti, meatballs/sausage, salad
tommorrow-turkey, potatoes, veg from freezer
wednesday-meatball pizza, salad
thursday-turkey and stuffing casserole, frozen veg from freezer
friday-mexican shephards pie, corn or salad
saturday-turkey and rice soup, sandwiches
sunday-spaghetti, meatballs/sausage, salad

my cupboards are stuffed to the brim thanks to couponing. :cool1: i think a pantry freezer challenge for myself is in order. the next few weeks i am going to work on not eating out and buying as little as possible from the grocery store.

Last night we had burritos with corn and rice
today - spaghetti, meatballs, breadsticks, green beans
Tues.- Roast beef, carrots, potatoes, rolls- I wanted this meal tonight but got home too late.
Weds.- BBQ chicken sandwiches, I'll put the chick in the crockpot, later debone it, and add sauce.

Feeling so much better today so dinner tonight is going to be roasted chicken flatbread pizza. Tomorrow I will take the leftover chicken and use it to make the lemon chicken spaghetti soup.

So glad you are feeling better! And that pizza sounds awesome!

I am wrapping up this week once a month grocery shopping and once a month menu planning. I will say I LOVED it. I sat down four weeks ago and did a menu for the whole four weeks working around activities, days away from home etc etc. I than grocery shopped for the whole month. It enabled me to take advantage of what I had in my pantry and freezer and add in the extras. I figured everything including kids lunches, fresh fruit and snacks. It worked fabulous and I cut this months food $$$ in half!

Also I had two planned eat out days this month, one was for takeout and we got fish sandwiches, the other was tobe a sit down restaurant but I have been so sick this whole month that we didn't even go out for that, instead we made omelets at at home.

Now I don't think my menus are anything fancy or anything, but it is mostly scratch cooking.
This week:
Sunday Crab cakes, rice, green salad, canned peaches
Monday: Baked chicken, baked spaghetti squash, broccoli, baked potatos
Tuesday: Ham steak, pierogies, apple sauce, green beans
Wed Steak Sandwiches, carmelized onions parmesan potatos, spinach salad
Thursday: Chicken meatballs over pasta, spaghetti sauce, broccoli salad
Friday Breakfast for dinner

Saturday I grocery shop for the next four weeks!!! Beef tips in the slow cooker, mashed potatos, corn.

For lunch this week the kids are taking sliced turkey breast, I purchased a whole turkey breast, roasted it and the kids take it on sandwiches with home made rolls. Last week I did this with a roast beef, the week before a ham and the week before that a corned beef. It actually works out to be cheaper than all the lunch meat I was buying and eliminates the need to go to the store every week for lunchmeat. The fresh fruit this week is apples and oranges. At home fruit is frozen bananas that I bought four weeks ago, peel cut in half and put in the freezer, yum like popsicles. Than we also have frozen berries from my garden that we put into smoothies or over oatmeal or pancakes for breakfast.

We are actually eating better since I started once a month shopping and it has reduced the stress of
"whats for dinner?".

So glad you are feeling better! And that pizza sounds awesome!

Thanks. It was yummy. I took flatbread from Aldi's and spread a little ranch dressing on it before topping it with the roast chicken and mozzarella cheese. I baked it for 15-20 mins at 350 degrees and when it came out of the oven I put fresh spinach on top.

That sounds delish, I just purchased flat bread last week for the first time, it is in freezer, now I know what I will do with it LOL!

Loving this thread.. I cooked dinner every night last week and we did end up getting pizza for $15 on Saturday for lunch.. but compared to what we usually spend out, we did great!!

Im working on my menu for the next 2 weeks and hope to be done by tomorrow so I can shop on Friday.. Cant believe Im actually excited about cooking.. lol

Once again trying to get myself back into the cooking habit..

Sunday: Lasagna and salad
Monday: Leftover Chinese
Tuesday: Leftover lasagna
Wednesday: Chicken w/veggies
Thursday: The End of the Chinese...Yay, and I will have soup
Friday: Homemade little hamburgers, sweet potatoes, and fruit

It sounds like a bad week, but actually I have oatmeal in the crockpot now that will be for breakfast most of this week. I have 3-4 different types of squash that I will cook and use in the next week or so. I will be making meals to freeze on the nights that we are doing the leftovers this week. So hopefully this will put us back onto the eating at home schedule.
