Tonight-Victoria Day BBQ (it's a holiday here in Canada!!)...I am bringing a garden salad
Tues- breakfast for dinner-eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, pancakes, fruit
Wed-chicken (I have bone-in, skinless chicken breasts thawing in the fridge--not sure if we will bbq them or what!!), sides undetermined
Thurs-buffalo chicken snack wraps, broccoli
Fri-beef tacos, salad, refried beans

I have been trying to eat down the fridge freezer to clear it out a bit and now we are getting to the last of what was in there. :thumbsup2

Blueberries came home from my berry tray, so I'm making a free-form blueberry orange rustic tart to have as a fresh dessert (and sweet breakfast option)...I never want to toss food, but nor do I want to eat food that might have been touched without cooking it, so "pie" it is:)...it smells really good in the oven...

Monday- frozen pizza (just got home from a long weekend away) -had frozen pizza
Tuesday- steak and baked potatoes -had homemade burgers at the outlaws
Wednesday- white fish, rice, frozen veg - used the steak for steak fajitas
Thursday- ribs, salad, some other side - we had ribs, baked potatoes, corn, cauliflower
Friday- steak fajitas, refried beans- leftovers and dome frozen appies
Saturday- DD away visiting bio mom- DH and I will prob have appy night- we had leftover ribs and fries (unhealthy but we were feeling lazy)
Sunday- DD still away- I think I will put in chili in the crick pot- good for lunches the next week- I forgot we were going to family friends for mil's bday, so no dinner required, but I think I will still put chili in for tomorrow

I was in one previously, a thread dedicated to using up your pantry to reduce grocery bill. :) It does help. Making a meal plan and grocery list alone helps lower the costs. But using what you got and making sure you have the littlest waste possible(not always easy in my home people here don't like leftovers). But I'll tell the little ones especially(my dd age almost 13 and my friend's 14 year old son that is here often enough possibly living full time with us next year that if they really want to make this trip to Universal and Disney happen we will have to eat as cheap as possible with my healthier improvements to whole fresh foods mostly. I was calculating about $4000 minimum will be needed for the four of us(me, my dd, my brother and my friend's son) and that is with us NOT needing lodging(lots of family less than an hour away from any fun we'd want to partake). So yeah I'll sit with the two kids that will have a fit and try to make something that will help them keep it in mind when they want useless snack foods and candy.

In mean time I have steak in fridge that thawed out yesterday/last night, potatoes and veggies planned for tonight. Then I'll need to go to the store so I need to get my grocery ads and start planning.

Your ports sound like SOOOO much fun! We've only done 2 cruises and it was pretty much the same ports (Falmouth, Jamaica then Key West second) I'd really like to get to the Eastern Caribbean :smooth: Grand Turk looks soooo pretty! :flower1: I can't wait to hear how much fun your trip was!

I don't think we'll be doing Disney next time. The prices have just gone TOO high for us at this point. We were lucky on this cruise we just took and booked 6 weeks out with the Florida Resident Rate. We priced it out for next year and holy moly it was over 2 times what we paid for this one!!! We really like cruising and are now looking into other cruise lines that leave out of Port Canaveral (about a 5 hr drive for us)

Yipee, older DS is visiting for the long weekend. He and his gf went out to dinner tonight so we're just having leftovers at the house. We might possibly have a tropical storm headed our way, but at the very least lots of rain Sun. and Mon. so there goes the plans for going to our friends' rented beach house to celebrate Memorial Day. I will go shopping in the morning and the plan for the next week is:

Fri: ham sliders with broccoli salad and smoothies (woo hoo- last day of school!)
Sat: out to eat after graduation (many friends' kids graduating and younger DS has to play for band)
Sun: Frito pie
Mon: burgers with potato salad and coleslaw and watermelon
Tues: chicken sandwiches with bbq chips and smoothies
Wed: grilled skirt steak with corn salad
Thur: spice rubbed pork tenderloin with citrus spinach salad
Fri: red beans and rice

Next week:

Mon: Turkey meatloaf, green beans and carrots
Tues: Cheesy vegetarian mac http://www.budgetbytes.com/2016/01/cheesy-vegetarian-chili-mac/
Wed: I have my workout class. Leftovers.
Th: Avocado and mozzarella chicken (baked chicken coated in breadcrumbs and cooked through, then top with avocado, marinara and cheese and then put back in oven and let it all melt on residual heat., brown rice or some kind of veggie (I'll see what I have).
Fri: Homemade black bean patties from the freezer, pasta with broccoli http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/...c-oil-sauteed-pasta-with-broccoli-recipe.html
Sat: It's H's 30th birthday and he wants to eat at Red Robin! So that is what we are doing, he gets to pick!:thumbsup2
Sun: Either leftovers or breakfast for dinner (eggs, fruit, pancakes).

Decided that with ribeyes so cheap ($5.99/lb - have not seen that price here in years, and have not made this steak in about 4-5 years), I was gonna treat myself for the holiday weekend, vs going out to a steak place...so...
Sat - Grilled Ribeye Steaks with a Red Wine Sauce and Carmelized Onions, Mashed Potatoes (I'd usually bake them, but I don't want the oven on), Cilantro Cream Dressed Salad of Romaine, Cabbage, Carrots, etc (prebagged mix), Strawberries
Sun - Ribeye Steak, Green Pepper, and Onion Fajitas, Grilled Corn, Peaches and Blueberries
Mon - Pool Potluck with Hamburgers and Hot Dogs - Gonna bring desserts (probably a lemon bundt cake and vanilla dipped strawberries)
Tues - Potato-Corn Chowder (using any leftover mashed potatoes, carmelized onions, or corn on the cob - any steak will also be added to the end) with BLTs and Strawberries/Blueberries
Wed - BBQ Pork Sandwiches, Leftover Soup, Apple Slices, Banana Muffins
Thurs - Thai Peanut Baked Chicken, Green Salad, Bananas in Coconut Milk (or leftover Banana Muffins)
Fri - $5 deal or Frozen Pizza or Leftover Proteins, Fruit Smoothies

Th: Avocado and mozzarella chicken (baked chicken coated in breadcrumbs and cooked through, then top with avocado, marinara and cheese and then put back in oven and let it all melt on residual heat., brown rice or some kind of veggie (I'll see what I have).

This sounds great! I am stealing your idea for my meal plan next week, but changing it up using crushed tortilla chips that I have leftover from making nachos as the coating, some extra salsa instead of marinara, and pepper jack cheese instead of mozzarella. I already have some rice and tomatoes I can use too, so all I'll have to buy is the chicken and avocado. My family will love this- thanks!

Both of these chicken ideas sound fantastic! Great way to change up the flavor Sydney! I may have to copy you, as I have a bag of tortilla chips that are gonna go stale soon!

Happy to help, that is why I love this thread so much!:cheer2:

Your version sounds really good! I will have to try that next time! We loved baked chicken and its so easy to make extra for lunches the next day!

Last Week: recap of plan vs actual:

Monday- frozen pizza (just got home from a long weekend away) -had frozen pizza
Tuesday- steak and baked potatoes -had homemade burgers at the outlaws
Wednesday- white fish, rice, frozen veg - used the steak for steak fajitas
Thursday- ribs, salad, some other side - we had ribs, baked potatoes, corn, cauliflower
Friday- steak fajitas, refried beans- leftovers and some frozen appies *we weren't that hungry as we ate out for lunch- DD had the district (ie city) track meet and won both the 100m and 300m finals! Fastest I our city of 90,000! Let her puck lunch out to celebrate and she pucked Chinese buffet

This Week:
Monday- chili from the crock pot, Caesar salad (we had chili, salad)
Tuesday- I'm thinking still chili, salad, cheese toast (we had leftover Indian from Sunday's dinner as hosts wanted the leftovers gone- yum!)
Wednesday- white fish, rice, frozen veg of some sort (we had chili, fries, salad)
Thursday- found a turkey carcass in the deep freeze- so thinking turkey soup to use it up - suppose to get hot later this week but oh well! (Sausages, pork and beans, cut veggies)
Friday- BBQ'd pork chops or pulled pork, quinoa, broc (pulled pork sandwiches, corn on the cob)
Saturday- DD11 has a soccer tournament- grilled cheese, tomato soup, cut veggies (found a frozen pizza in the oven- after being at DDs soccer tournament all day, pizza and salad it was)
Sunday- DD11 still has soccer tournament- I'm thinking breakfast for dinner as I usually make "cooked" breakfasts on the weekends and prob won't have time with all the soccer (inlaws took us out for Chinese after soccer)

"Other meal" add/replace as needed- pasta with meat sauce made with Italian sausage- found a package of Italian sausage deep in the freezer- I will add this meal in if I happen to get some pasta sauce, or it will be on next weeks menu
