Happy New Year Everyone!
Well today was supposed to be my first day of a stricter new diet plan, but well, there was birthday cake, and seeing as how birthdays only come once a year that makes it special cake. So of course I had to have some. And then there was homemade fudge which I was good at avoiding for about 10 hours and then it finally lured me in to taking a small piece. It was so awesome and I was really craving carbs and sugar, so I had a second little piece. An hour later, then since I already blew my diet, I had another bit. It sounded rational at the time. I feel like it's Mardi Gras and tomorrow is Lent. So tomorrow is a new start for my diet.

Today - hamburger helper potato stroganoff, garlic green beans (Hubby cooked since I worked all day)
Mon - salsa chicken, spinach salad, vanilla yogurt with blueberries
Tues - grilled steak salad, mixed fruit with vanilla yogurt
Weds - pork loin, roasted acorn squash, garden salad
Thurs - chicken tinga tostadas, mexican corn
Fri - pulled pork, cole slaw, baked apples
Sat - brown bean chowder, fruit salad

Sounds like a day I had not too long ago. If you ever need someone to cheer you on, let me know. I have already lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks by changing my eating habits! If you want some low(er) calorie meal ideas, I have a ton on my Pinterest and other websites. What kind of eating plan are you doing?

Plans for next week and a half in no particular order:

cheeseburgers, lettuce, tomato and onions, fries
roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, veggie
pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans
pot roast in slow cooker with potatoes and carrots
pasta with tomato blue cheese sauce (has spinach in it)
black bean and corn quesadillas with Mexican rice
chicken stir fry
fried chicken, veggie

Hi all glad the new thread is all up and running I used to post my plan every week but got so stressed with xmas i forgot all about eating at home and ended up eating whatever I wanted....But no more I have planned this week and set a theme of Italy just to keep things interesting so this week looks like this....

Today- Lasagna and garlic bread
Tuesday - Minestrone Soup
Wednesday- Vodka Arrabiata
Thrusday- Tomato and Basil Risotto
Friday- Stuffed Red Mullett.

I have also just made a batch of Ham and Pea soup to take to work with me as I seem to spend a lot of money eating at work and with a holiday in Feb coming up and a wedding to save for we just cant afford to be spending money all the time and plus homemade soup tasts nicer than my works food IMO.

I think I will be sticking to the themes as I love researching recipes and trying them out and my DB loves trying new foods.

The tomato blue cheese sauce sounds very interesting... do you have a recipe for that?

Tonight is up in the air since we have to pick up DD8 from at gparents' house an hour away and then have swim lessons at 5:30. Tomorrow is back to school so that is when the food craziness gets under control.

T - grilled chicken, baked potatoes, broccoli
W- grilled cheese, tomato soup, fruit
Th- pork chops w/onions and mushrooms, mashed pot, gravy, brussel sprouts
F - burgers, salad
S - Pasta w/meat sauce, salad
S - Grilled teriyaki chicken, noodles, veg

Yesterday was pizza. We make homemade pizza every Sunday. We like to play with the toppings so it is rarely the same.

Mon: Jalapeno Chicken
Tues: Spaghetti (noodles for the family, spaghetti squash for Daddy and I)
Wed: healthy chicken enchiladas
Thurs: lasagna
Fri: porcupine balls
Sat: probably Brats. It is grocery shopping day and I prefer something easy after that adventure. :rotfl:

Hi Lily, thanks for the support. I am doing a modified South Beach diet. Pretty much high protein, high fiber, whole grains, and lower carbs. I really want to lose 10 lbs before our trip in 3 weeks. I'm just barely overweight (25 lbs) and there is really no excuse. However I did read an interesting article about being petite and losing weight and it said that for a petite woman just eating as few as 25 extra calories a day will cause the weight gain. Sheesh! Do you know how little of a margin for error that is?!!! I need a bigger window. No wonder I struggle so much. Plus I learned that my calorie requirements are much less than a woman that is 5'7". AND charts are based on that 5'7" female.

Yes, I need recipes and ideas! However I have to feed hubby too and he is the difficult one as he insists on meat. And he loves pasta, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, things with gravy or sauce, and carb loaded foods.

I'll jump on later and link up some of my favorite websites for healthier meals. Maybe you can use some of them and work them into your diet. One of my favorite meals though is stir fry because you can load those things with vegetables and proteins for very low calories. Then you can serve them over rice or extra vegetables! Sometimes I skip the rice to save the calories and all I do is fill the stir fry with even more vegetables to make up for the bulk the rice gives it.

I just thought I would share (if you don't know about her site already, because I know she sometimes pops in here), but at http://eatathomecooks.com/ she has a great weekly menu planner you can print. It's great, there is an area to write down your meals, but then also an area for your grocery list. Also a great site to get even more meal ideas. :thumbsup2

This is us for this week~
Mon-steaks, fries & broccoli
Tues-chicken tacos
Wed-bangers & mash (my mom is English, so I use this term, but it's really just brauts on the grill with mash potatoes).
Thurs-waffles
Fri-hamburgers + chips (something easy, heading to hockey game after)
Sat. -garlic pasta w/shrimp & mushrooms
Sun-tacos

Have a good week, I'll be lurking for more ideas.....oh I like the poster that put baked potatoes & salad (I think it was in the long post about diners through Feb). I really like that idea, and my kids will love it, so that is going on our menu for next week...:thumbsup2

Dinner last night was Trader Joe's hot dogs & some baby carrots, tomatoes, cukes & chips. Tonight is French toast, sausage & clementine's.

I've been following this thread for a while but have never felt the need to post. However, I am definitely feeling the need right now. I need someone to hold me accountable so I don't end up just ordering delivery every night! Our bank account is suffering because of it  I just went grocery shopping for the week, spent $50 for the two of us. Definitely feeling the crunch after the holidays, so it looks like it's going to be pb&j for lunch all week!

Monday - Probably just end up snacking tonight
Tuesday - pork chops with veggies
Wednesday - make our own pizza
Thursday - chicken breasts with veggies
Friday - spinach and cheese ravioli with garlic bread

I just got done cleaning out and reorganizing the freezer, the pantry, and another cabinet. We got rid of anything expired and anything that is 100% no go for my new way of eating. That was a lot of work! It's amazing how much space I have now though!
