EasyWDW VS Touringplans

Love the Lines app with TP, but I follow easywdw for which park days. So far looking at my park days in September, I planned pretty darn well, and they match up with his recommended days. Last year TP's was WAY off, but I do use them for other things like the room request fax and the Lines app.

Another vote for easywdw. Like a previous poster, we will often attend mornng EMH on a non-recommended day then hop to a recommended park for the afternoon. But we've always found his predictions to be very accurate.

Happy to help! For some reason, November 2016 isn't showing up when you hover over the "crowd calendars" heading in the menu! I had to search to find it too, lol.
That is because it is preliminary.

It is hard to find since it isn't on the main page. Like you, Amelia, I use Turning Plans. They have their information up much earlier than Josh.

I originally based my days on TP, but then switched them to match more closely to EasyWDW. We used to use TGM and I feel EasyWDW is similar, with the avoiding of EMH (and we don't completely avoid- but don't plan to attend them every day, either). On most of our days TP and Easy were similar, but the days that are predicted to be the most crowded, the recommendations are completely opposite. We'll see!

I love TP lines app, I have always found it to be accurate and amazingly helpful.

I have never used a cite for crowd levels, I went on Easy WDW but could only find a general overview for August. Do you have to subscribe to get the monthly breakdown for crowd levels?

Thank you so much! Of course every day I'm in a park it's marked red. :PBut I've already made my ADR s and fast passes so I'll have to deal with the high crowds
One of the assertions Touring Plans makes is that having a good daily plan is more important than picking the right day of the week. I don't know how true that is, but I think most will agree that making rope drop on a busier day is better than arriving in the park at lunch time on a lighter day of the same week.

The thing that puzzles me is that AK's hours have significantly changed during our visit, but Josh's comments still don't reflect that (last week of August. I don't know if that would change his recommendations at all (?)

I'm not sure how much to trust Touring Plans, I have a subscription and I did a Personalized plan for Thanksgiving day. Since we are arriving that day and I want to go to MK I picked a few rides I wanted to do and when I evaluated the plan, it had a wait time of 37 minutes for BTMRR for 3:15pm. I've been checking wait times, and even on days that aren't going to be so busy, the wait has been longer. It will be interesting to see just how accurate those wait times will be.

EasyWDW says the same thing. He recommends a good morning plan and then re-evaluate your afternoon/evening based on crowd level/schedule/being able to hop. Hoppers allow flexibility for when non-recommended parks fit your plans better so a "most recommended" park in the morning isn't as important. Without hopping I'd stick with the recommended parks for that day, if possible.

Oh, I like Josh's site. I've used it 3 times and had great touring. I also like to know the "whys" because I can plan a morning/late evening for an unrecommended park.

Waiting on easywdw Jan 2017 calendar. Even after Josh posts it things can change so much - hours, ride closures, etc.
Remember the good old days when you could just "wing it" and not worry and plan so much. Those days are gone but I do have to admit I like comparing all the crowd calendar websites and thinking about my next trip.

Those days are not gone, we wing it just about every trip, we make FPs the night before or even morning of, same with ADRs. If you know from the get go you might not get that "must do" ride or eat at that "must eat at" restaurant, it's easy to do. I've looked at crowd calendars to see what the fuss is all about but have never used one and in most cases have gone to the parks not recommended.

I found Touring Plans to be a great tool for a first time WDW visitor. That said, I took my crowd predictions from EasyWDW because I liked the detailed explanation of WHY. We were very happy with all our park days and in hindsight would only have made one significant change.

I use Josh's crowd calendar for all of my visits and have had tremendous success.

I haven't found a lot of the Touring Plans information to be terribly accurate (crowd calendars, room finder, etc.).

We are going for our first family trip in November, whilst planning I tried to use both sites, but easy WDW's crowd calendar for November isn't even up yet, so the info just wasn't available at the point I needed to plan. We are there for 14 days and got the free dining plan, so I had to make 14 ADR's at the 180 day mark, so unfortunately my plans are already set in stone before I can even see his calendar.
Actually it is up, we are going in November also, but you have to really search for it for some reason, while the other months are super easy to find.

We chose parks based on where we wanted to spend our first day, my birthday, etc and they were almost always the least recommended spots for both of the touring sites. BUT we used touring plans to make custom plans and minimize our line waits and it was spot on and enabled us to do so much more in a more relaxed manner than I thought possible. We really fit in everything we wanted to do with minimal waits, even going to EMH parks or defying all popular wisdom and showing up at the parks around lunch time each day. Maybe there was a fairy following us around sprinkling pixie dust or maybe the touring plans software is just that good.

This is not generally something someone going their first and possibly only time would want to do

To be honest I didn't have good luck with Touring plans... Josh's recommendation and touingplans worked better for us.

I actually looked at touringplans actual vs predicted and compared to Josh's prediction and Josh's prediction were in line with tourinplans actual for all days of the week I looked apart from Epcot. However touringplans only looks at waiting times and this was during Food and Wine so Josh's recommendations were pretty much spot on

Going to echo - EasyWDW has always been far superior for me. Our three trips last year, he was absolutely spot on every single day that it was freaky! Following his guidelines have made our trips so much better as we really get a lot more done. We will be following his plans again in October.

I do enjoy the Touring Plans Lines app for inside the parks though.
