O.K., we recieved our advance excursion booklet yesterday and I am not a Chevy Chase Family Vacation planner. I prefer to take it one day at a time but, I am getting some preassure from DW to plan our excursions for St. Thomas and St. Maarteen. So anyone who has advice would be appreciated. It's myself DW and DD's 13 and 11. DD 13 and I LOVE the water, she and I love to snorkle. (She sais she wants to be a marine biologist) DW and DD11 like the water and the beach as long as no fish swim near them. They are the shoppers. Now the easy thing would be for me and DD 13 to go one way and DW and DD 11 the other right? No, this is a family vacation. Sooooo, one day catamaran and snorkeling and on day doing something else. DW doesn't want to spend a day at the beach.....we have 3 days at sea and CC to enjoy and relax. Question? Golden Eagle at ST. Maarteen or Wild Thing at ST. Thomas.....I'm leaning towards Wild thing. DD's and DW love fast boats and it has a little of everything and it looks like we will be back to port in time to take a SHORT tramway ride and some shopping after some snorkeling beach and boating. Looks like the Golden Eagle is all about snorkeling.......

Actually the Golden Eagle in St. Maarten is about Sailing, Snorkeling, Swimming and doing the beach. It is a lot of fun. Everyone seems to have a great time and they all "show off" how much fun they are having as they return to port.

Snorkeling in St. Maarten is an iffy proposition. They get a lot of wind which stirs up the ocean floor (sand) and can make visibility (the underwater kind) very poor.

Thanks Jrabbit.............now has anyone done the Wild Thing on St. Thomas? It says it's 4 hours 8:20 to 12:20 then maybe enough time left over for the tram and shopping for the DD's and DW and make the ship by 4:45? We have late seating so that's not an issue.

theres a thread concerning the Golden Eagle catamaran trip that is very current -
