Eastern Caribbean Fantasy Oct. 5, 2013

My house will be full of people while I'm traveling. The burglar would have a tough time getting past them all.

Good for you, but most probably that's not the case for everyone.
I guess, I'm pretty safe too, as it's highly probable that no-one reading the DIS is a burglar in Germany and we live in an extremely safe house anyway. Nevertheless I -and the majority over here- opted tom play it as safely as possible.

Have a look at those links:

Update on the weather:
Gabrielle has been downgraded once again. Humberto is heading due North and may even touch the Canary Islands (Where we usually spend spring), and the System in the Gulf is now named Ingrid but will probably only affect Mexico.
The Situation in the Caribbean is presently very unusual with so many systems popping up simultaneously - especially with Humberto getting so close to the Canaries, which is so remarkable that it even made the eveing news here in Germany!!
Let's keep our fingers crossed that the Caribbean calms down soon!

Hi! I'm completely new at forums, I'm a Facebook girl....:cool1:

We are going on our first Disney cruise on the Fantasy, Oct 5 2013. Our daughter is almost 3 and I am looking for a group to do the fishy thing with! Am I in the right place????

Welcome to our group, but I guess you're kinda late for the Fish Extender as even the latecomer FE closed a week ago.

Whether he group is really secure or not, can not be determined now, but only after the cruise.
The reason why many of us are so reluctant to post real names in conjunction with travel dates is that it has happened that people did exactly that - and came home from their trip top find their house burglarized.
As it's pretty easy to post here on the DIS using an alias and then being invited to the Facebook-group there is no such thing as security in your group - or did you check real IDs and cruise-reservations before admitting people?

I hope -and even expect- that none of you will find their house minus a TV and other valuables upon your return, but the majority of our group decided to avoid that risk.

As Always, I know if I give you time to chime in, you will do a very good job at explaining this matter. Thank you again.

Welcome to our group Mama2Hope
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
I am sorry to say that the FE exchange sign ups have all closed.

But we would be glad to have you join in on all of our other on goings and meets.
You can learn all about these by joining us on the group page.
I will send you a invite shortly.

Welcome!! As was said the Fish extenders have been closed, but I have extras I would gladly add you to my list if you would like? My daughter who is 6 loves doing it and gets so excited when she sees things in the fish extender at our door. So I would love to include your family in it as well, your daughter will love it! Just let me know if you are interested in exchanging!! Thanks!

Attention all FE'ers, I uploaded the most up to date FE for Group I and II to the group page under files. You can go to the group page and then to the 'Files' tab on the left hand side.

I will get Group III posted the next time I get on to the other computer.

So Viking...aren't you at all worried about airport personnel having your travel dates and full name and address? Couldn't they burglarize your home?

And I hope you don't tell your neighbors or friends that you are going on vacation. They could burglarize your home as well.

Life has risks. Yes we should try to minimize it as best we can.

Best thing to do is say you don't want to join a Facebook group and leave it at that. And let the rest of us that actually want to join the Facebook group have fun with it.

I feel this needs to be repeated.

There are many ways to interact with one another now a days. Each of us have the means by which we are comfortable.

So, find what works best for you, and use it. The only point I tried to make clear about the group page is it is not just in place for interaction, but as a one stop shop for this cruise.

If you want to take advantage great, if not, great.
But stop the bickering :furious:

Speaking on behalf of myself and several others that I have spoken with, we joined this board to make friends, and have fun. Not start fights.

MexiFinn: All Viking is asking is for those of you who want to FB, to respect that there are those of us who go to extended measures to assure the safety of our families.

We understand that you and other members of the FB community see it a different way than we do. All we are asking is that you pay us the same curtsy. Any way, what kind of world would this be if one person had a view of things, and everyone else just followed along behind like sheep. I am excited that we are all individuals.

MexiFinn: All Viking is asking is for those of you who want to FB, to respect that there are those of us who go to extended measures to assure the safety of our families.

And we understand that. Stating once that you do not want to join FB is fine. Maybe a few times since this thread spans many pages. We aren't the mafia here...we aren't going to force you to do something against your wishes.

Same applies to the non-FB. We don't need to constantly hear again and again how unsafe FB is...and how we will probably be burglarized.

Respect is a two way street.

I am a relative newby on here but reading through the posts I have to agree with Mexifinn, it is a two way thing, I for one love FB and the page for this cruise is a closed group!! It's also easier to navigate! It seems tat some people's opinions are valued more than others.....oh and I have it on good authority that the security on FB is as good as on here if not better, just saying! And not bickering HONEST..... ;)

I know I'm late to join the conversation but learning lots from your previous posts. Our family of 5 will be on the Oct. 5 sailing....can't wait!

I'm beginning to pack and was wondering about the schedule. I'm trying to figure out which nights are formal, semi formal, pirate, princess, Halloween, Captain's Gala, etc. My DD will be getting Princessed up at the BBB on what I think is scheduled for the princess/prince night. Is this going to be the Halloween night, too? If so, she won't need a Halloween costume, but if not she needs a costume.

Also, Hubby and I have reservations for Remy on what I think is formal night. Should I dress the 3 kids, 8,6, 2 as well for pics?

I realize that there are over 90 pages on this thread, making it hard to have followed the complete progression of this group. But at no time during the development of this group has just 1 person had the say. Everything has been handled in a democratic fashion. Any thing that has been done as a complete group, or for the group was decided on by the majority.

A little while back when Mrs Stevenson said she was starting up a fb page, she made a post about it and left it at that. Reaching out to individuals who ask about a fb page.

There were no arguments, and no one was forced to choose where they wanted to plug in, because Mrs Stevenson has done an outstanding job keeping us up to date on any shared activities. Just as I try to do with all that is going on with the group page for those who have trouble with it (and have found it easier to wait for updates here). The only draw back has been that if I tried to keep all of the meets, on goings, special helps and such at the top of each page, there would be no room for any conversations.

So with that said, enough is enough. If you want to participate here, we welcome you, if not, we understand.

But please quit. I look forward to the positive, encouraging, excitement building interaction on the board. And do not want a trip that I have been planning for and excited about for 2 years to start out on a sour note.

Let me start by welcoming you to our group.

As for what night is what, the easiest way to answer your questions is to direct you to our group page (which I will send an invitation to shortly). We have some great things like navigators (these have the most up to date schedules available), menus, and even practice sheet for the cartoon drawing at Animators Palate. You will be able to locate these things in the pictures, files, and database sections. Plus there's a shorter conversation strain then the 90+ pages on here to help catch you up on things like our cancer ribbons, and embarktion party .
Oh yeah, there are several meets that you can sign up for as well.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Is it too late to join the wine meet up? Just talked to DH answer would be interested. We are from Colorado and have some great wineries here! Let me know. Thanks!!

Yep, I just noticed the sign up on the group page, so I did sign me and my DH up. We love trying different wines! Now to figure out how to bring the Colorado wine with us?? Thanks!

I have a DD who is 6 (going to be 7 in December), she is kind of shy at first. So I was wondering who is on the cruise that have dds close to her age, and are you going to be going to the meet on the first day? It would be great for my DD to meet some other little girls right off the bat so she isn't so nervous going into the kids club. Also anybody going to the Mickey Halloween Party at Disney World before the cruise? I have another question for cruisers that have been on the Fantasy before, do they do any tea wi Alice or princess type things? On the wonder and magic you have to go to guest services right away to sign up for these, is there anything like that on the Fantasy? Thanks!!

If you head over to the group page, and go to the different FE lists under "database" (especially the one about kiddo information), you may be able to find a few families that have little ones in your daughters age group. Then, you can reach out to them. As we get closer, some people have been telling me they have been to busy to check the boards regularly. So an email (or message) from here on the DIS or on the group page may get through faster than a post.

I hope you find a new best friend for her. I know that will make her cruise that much more magical.

just a reminder that 9/19 is the official "talk like a pirate day". hope everyone will have fun with it that day. Arrrrr.....
