Eastern Caribbean Fantasy Oct. 5, 2013

Hi Tink

FYI, just added our name to cancer ribbon - chosen lavender as there are too many and also unknowns to choose from.

Thanks

Lea:)

Hello Fellow Cruisers!

Apologies for my being away from the group for so long, life has interfered greatly - promotion at work, daughter broke her foot and husband with shingles!

As mentioned, I will be arranging the maho beach day.

As per the sign up, we have somewhere between 40 and 42 people wanting to go along. I assume that will mean multiple buses.

I will contact Bernards with the following information:

Date: 8th October
Time 9am
See: Orient beach (or perhaps another beach close by if they think another one is better for less nudity)
: Maho beach to see as many arrivals as possible
Number: approx 40 - 42
Duration: Back to port or alternative of St Phillpsburg approx 2 hours prior to ship departure (approx 4 to 4:30 based on current timings in port).

Can those interested please confirm you are still ok and numbers, those are:

2crazegoofies, 5
Deb T., 2
Kelly Group, 9
Pixiehallow, 2 perhaps 4
TamaraH_cruise, 4
Viking, 2
mercinursi, 5
santam01, 2
simsandrachel2013, 3
timewilltell98, 2

As soon as I get a majority confirmation, I will get the arrangements sorted. They require a small deposit from memory, which I am happy to pay now and will sort out with you all on the day.

Let me know!!

thanks :thumbsup2

Lea

Lea,
Thanks for working on this for us.
My family is still interested (I wish I could give a definite on the 2 or 4, but not sure yet).
Since you said there will be multiple vehicles, we would be interested in going with anyone not caring about orient beach (we could skip that part all together actually). Also, if there is a group that would like to get back to the boat a little earlier, we would be happy to be in that vehicle as well.
But I do not want to complicate things to much. We will be happy with how ever the day plays out.
The best parts will be good company, and the 'Crazy Plane Beach'.

Hi Lea!

Congrats on your promotion! :hyper: Sooooo sorry to hear about your DD's broken foot :worried: and your DH's shingles :crazy2: ! I hope they are both feeling much better by the time our cruise gets here! ::yes::

Thanks for organizing this tour for everyone! :goodvibes We're really looking forward to it! Your itinerary of Orient Beach, Maho Beach, and then back at port two hours prior to sail-away sounds perfect to us. :thumbsup2

Just a thought - maybe you could set it up so families with children are on one bus and another bus would consist of only adults. That way, the "family bus" could easily bypass Orient Beach if they are concerned about nudity. If you are able to set the buses up this way, then DH and I vote to be on the "adult bus". :cool2:

Oh my! Congrats on the promo! So sorry to hear of the injury and illness though. Thanks so much for working on this. We do have 4 (me, DH, and 2 DD). I'm with Tink with preferring to get back to the ship earlier and avoiding nude beaches would definitely be a desire of ours but I don't want to put a damper on it all so if that can't be avoided we could arrange something on our own if we had to. Hopefully that helps instead of complicating it.

Thanks so much!

G'Day Lea,
and welcome back. Had to think of you quite recently as I stumbled over the 'Tomorrow'-series when I was looking for an interesting read. So I spent a few weeks working my way through all seven books - great read and now I now a lot of Ozzie-slang ;) I'll give it a try on the ship and ask a crew member for directions to the nearest dunny :rotfl2:

Yes, we will definitely accompany you to Orient Bay and Maho Beach. It would be great if we could be back in Philipsburg to do some shopping on the fleamarket or in the beachfront shops.
As we're Europeans we don't care if we encounter nudity. St Marteen/St. Martin is European territory after all, so we'll feel quite at home. France and the Netherlands are our closest neighbors back home.

PixieDust to your ailing family members!

Hi lea,

This is Karen from the KELLY group and we are still interested in going. Out of the 9 of us 3 are children and we are fine with orient beach and the nudity. I have seen pictures and there may be nudity at maho beach so we will just prepare them.

Thanks for putting this together. Do you recall how much per person again

Just curious (and not sure if I missed this), are we assigned a day to deliver our FE ? Thanks

It's been my personal experience that it works best when people can deliver whenever it's convenient for them. :flower3:

Can't wait!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Just curious (and not sure if I missed this), are we assigned a day to deliver our FE ? Thanks

I have receive this question a few times. here is a copy of the letter that I send out as an answer.....
There is no hard fast answer to your question.*The reason is, because how people participate in an FE is as varied as the individuals them selves.I know that there are some people who are making individual gifts for every single person in every cabin in their group. *And they plan to distribute those gifts through out the cruise. There are some families that are making one gift for each cabin in their group and distributing them on one day. Others are also making one gift and taking the whole cruise to get it out to their group. And then there are still others who are making multiple gifts for each cabin in their group, and then delivering several times through out the cruise. So, what it comes down to is...First, take into consideration how much space you have to pack the gifts you intend to deliver; Second, how much time, resources, and $ do you want to put into it (personally, we are one of the families delivering several gifts per cabin, but our gifts are small so they do not take up to much room, and we made the things that we are giving, so we did not have to break the bank...Plus I have been working on our gifts for close to a year now); Third, think about how much time it will take who ever is delivering the gifts to get to all of the cabins in your group (you do not want to spend your whole cruise on a cabin scavenger hunt...I have 2 teenage boys who are capable of being given a bag of gifts and a list of cabins to deliver them too...You appear to have a few adults plus Olivia { I don't know if at 10 you will want her delivering the gifts alone}...So, think about how helpful your cabin mates will be); my final suggestion is to think about why you wanted to do the FE...are y'all excited about the magic that you will be blessed with outside your door, are y'all excited about creating the magic for others, or is it both. *Then decide how you can best full fill the reason you signed up (again personally, we are magic makers, when we go to the parks, we have a family tradition called R.A.M. - Random Acts of Magic - we plan ahead of time a way to share the magic while at the park... for example when we went on my birthday, I made a birthday princes hat {you know like one of the dunce hats, but with a long lacy train coming from the top}, and then I spent my day doing character greets and getting autographs on the crown, explaining my plan to find a birthday princess at the end of the day to crown along the way - Which led to it's own magic for my family. *Near the end of the day, I found a young princess with a birthday button, to whom I passed on the honor of being 'Birthday Princess' of the day. *And I asked her if she could please take care of all of my autographs for me). Long story short, we get more out of being part of the magic. *That was the final link in our decision of how to give.Your story is what will help you decide. *There is no wrong way to participate. *What ever fits your families individuality is the right way to do it !I hope I answered your question.~Tink~

Just got back from our Sunday-morning run. We tried to beat the heat and ran from 945-1045am, 6miles total at 26°C/79°F, with a short stop at a French bakery to pick up some freshly baked rolls before tackling the last mile. Now we're having a quick shower and then a yummy -well deserved! - breakfast and then I'll take Anja to the hospital for her lateshift.
In exactly eight weeks we're gonna do our Sunday-morning run on Fernandina Beach, Florida :D
And in exactly nine weeks we'll run on Sunday morning at 21knots 'on' the Caribbean Sea :thumbsup2

The sign up for this FE is closed

:thumbsup2 I will try to keep the FE at (or very Near) the top of each new page from now until we cruise for convenience. :thumbsup2

...with a short stop at a French bakery to pick up some freshly baked rolls... and then a yummy -well deserved! - breakfast...

One of DH's favorite things to do during our travels is to find a good bakery in each town/city to sample local pastries. (It would be an understatement to say he has a sweet tooth!) I recently read about what's supposed to be a wonderful bakery in St. Maarten called Sarafina's Fine Pastry Store, Boulevard de France, Marigot. Maybe our Maho Beach bus group wouldn't mind a "sweet" detour! ;)

And, speaking of sweets, I also found out about a great chocolate shop on St. Maarten, as well. The Belgian Chocolate Box has two locations: 109 Old Street, Philipsburg and Harbour Village, Point Blanch. I believe we should dock near Harbour Village! :cool1:

2 notes on your post.
First, as I have a sweet tooth also, I would be okay with a sweet detour.
Second, if ever in Texas, you will have to stop by and pay us a visit. Our little German town is home to the Oldest Bakery in Texas.
They make the best strudel I have ever tasted.
Not to mention great cakes, cookies, doughnuts, muffins, ..... (I could go on, but I am getting hungry).

Hi everyone! I'm Candace. This will be our first DCL cruise and our 2nd cruise ever - though the last one was a 3 nighter out of LA during gale force winds something like 8 years ago.

I'll be traveling with my Mum, DH (we're both 30), DD (12), DD (10), and DS (turned 5 months old yesterday!). We're all from northern Utah and we'll be doing 1 day of Universal, 6 days of WDW, and 2 days of Captiva/Sanibel after the cruise.

DD (12) - Zoey - is high functioning, but on the Autism Spectrum. Anyone else with an Aspy planning on this sail date? I know she's planning on bringing her Nintendo 3DS as a coping mechanism and she'll have it on StreetPass if anyone is looking for StreetPasses.

I'm *DEFINITELY* interested in the FE list! I just started reading about FEs yesterday, but I'm hooked on the idea. It's exactly up our alley. I tried to read through all the past posts on this thread... but... y'all have done a phenomenal job at keeping up with one another and I just can't quite catch up. Sorry!

Even though we definitely love Belgian chocolate, we'll pass on that. During our last cruises we always felt 'stuffed' after about three days and even started skipping lunch on the ship.
And then there is the fact, that Belgium is only a few hours from our place and so we can have all the Belgian chocolate whenever we want it ;)

BTW, we didn't buy anything sweet at our French bakery, but just some freshly baked rolls for breakfast, which we devoured with cheese, salami and turkey cuts after our run.

Welcome to our group PontiusPython
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
I will send you an invite to the group page shortly.
As for the FE sign up, I am sorry to say that the opportunity to join the FE ended on July 26th.
If anyone in the group wants to exchange gifts with you personally that is up to them.
But in all fairness to the group as a whole, and all those who voted on a cut off date, I cannot add anyone else to the FE.
There are still great opportunities within the group for meets and such.
Again welcome and I am sorry that you cannot take part in the FE.

Well, I guess that just shows that I needed to read more than 38 pages of past posts. Sorry.
Thanks anyway.

Oh I absolutely love Belgium chocolate and Cadbury from Ireland. I know I have not had the best chocolate in the world, we are still in search. But we did go to the Belgium Chocolate Box on our last cruise while on the Fantasy when we stopped on St. Maarten and I am sorry to say it was not worth it. Extremely pricie and not worth it. Disappointed! But that's ok, the search is still on and that is more fun.
