Eastern Caribbean Fantasy Oct. 5, 2013

We'll try to buy as few items 'Made in China' as possible, Deb. But with some items you just don't have a choice, i.e. iPhones, computers.
Those couple watches have been put on hold for the time being as I spent our anniversary in the Hospital and so we didn't have time to shop, but we'll definitely look into those again after our trip. Our insurance guy even advised against taking such expensive items on a trip.
These watches will set us back six grand (eight in greenbacks), but they're also kind of an investment as those Omegas may even gain value with age - if treated and maintained properly.

A mark-up is OK with me (After all that's the fundament of our economy), but I just want to avoid buying plastic junk that isn't worth anything. I've been travelling to WDW since 1988 and I haven't yet found an item at the parks worth the money Disney is calling up for it. I usually only buy a cap from time to time as I collect those and that's it. I vividly remember an occasion when we where interviewed for a market survey upon leaving the parks one night. That lady asked us a lot of questions marking our answers on a tablet without ever looking at us until she inquired 'How much did you spend at the parks today?'
My reply made her jerk up her head with wide-opened eyes, because I said '$2.50' :rotfl2: She then mouthed an incredible 'What?' upon which I replied 'We bought a Coke and that was it.' She simply couldn't believe it :rotfl:

I guess that's a typical European attitude and the main reason why Disney still has problems making a profit with its park near Paris. Europeans are simply much more reluctant parting with their money ;)

Those MagicBands sound like I wouldn't care for them as they remind me of hospitals and cheap all-inclusive-resorts, but I just googled FastPAss+ and that sounds like a great innovation!!!...

I was looking forward to the MagicBands but the more I see and read the more I think I'm ok with just my card. It will do everything the band does but it will fit in my wallet! If I make an impromptu stop on WDW property, (one of the perks of living an hour from The World) I don't need to wonder where my band is or buy another one if I don't have it with me.
I can "decorate it" with its very own case if it needs to be dressed up.
That's just MHO though.:hippie:

Congrats on being all packed! That's quite an accomplishment! :thumbsup2

We're doing EPCOT and MK the day before the cruise. First, we'll be "eating our way around the world" at the Food & Wine Festival for our lunch. Then, we'll eat dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern before picking out a good spot to watch our favorite Disney parade, "Boo to You!" the Grave Diggers! :)

We too are doing Mk and Epcot, but doing MK first and finishing the day/night at Epcot. Are yall doing Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Yup! :) But just to watch the parade. We don't want to drag all that candy onboard the ship. :crazy2:

:hyper: :woohoo: :yay: :cool1:  Doin' the document dance!!! :cool1: :yay: :woohoo: :hyper:

The packet with luggage tags arrived in the mail today!!!!

The sign up for this FE is closed

Notice to late comers, contact Pontiuspython. She has volunteered to oversee putting something together for late comers.
Her current cut off date is Sept. 5th

:thumbsup2 I will try to keep the FE at (or very Near) the top of each new page from now until we cruise for convenience. :thumbsup2

Our cruise is booked and we are ready to set sail. Although we are not new to cruising with disney, we are new to the whole fish extender experience and would love to get in on the action. I have three children that I think will love the whole idea of it. I am traveling with 2 other families that are interested in participating as well. I am not sure how to go about joining a group or what the whole process entails. It sounds like so much fun and can't wait to do it!! Anyone out there know where I begin???

Eric,
What type of caps do you collect?

Baseball? Mickey? Certain style?

I collect baseball caps, Tink. It started with Hard Rock Cafe and Bubba Gump Restaurants, but meanwhile also US National Parks, cities we visited, Disney parks, you name it ;) Standard style, I just don't like mesh.

Can't wait for our documents to arrive. I guess sometime next week - hopefully!
The cruise docs and the car rental vouchers are the only missing items - then we're ready to go :cool1:

Welcome to the group maddd5
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
The good news is you have already begun.
The next few steps need to be completed rather quickly to assure your FE spot. The late comers FE group is closing soon. You will need to touch bases with pontiuspython. She's the member who volunteered to manage the late comers.
Also, I will send you a link to our group page shortly. This is where the actual sign up for the late comers FE is. Once you get signed up and logged in, you will want to navigate to the database tab on the left hand side of the page. Once you open that section, you will find all of the tables that have been created for this group. You will be looking for the one titled 'late comers FE - group III'. Open this table and click 'add a record' (at the top of the page), then answer the questions. This will need to be done for all of the cabins participating in your traveling party.
Finally, I noticed that you posted on the Genies Magic Carpet thread also. That is/was a secondary thread for this group. It is no longer active. The person who was maintaining it is no longer cruising with us.
Once again, welcome. I look forward to getting to know you, and will see you soon on the group page.

our luggage tags arrived yesterday:cool1::cool1:

They should look nice on my wife's Vera Bradley boysenberry suitcase. That one should be easy to spot in the luggage area after the cruise.

Got our cruise documents in the mail...it is feeling more real and getting SUPER excited! Wow...just a bit more than a month!

Still waiting for ours in AZ. They may have been in the mail yesterday but right as I was going out to get the mail a big dust storm came through and then heavy rain so opted to stay in

I hope this link works. I spent way too much time poring over these, hoping to minimize packing based on activities in which I'd like to participate. I know the info will be a bit different on our cruise but this gave me a place to start!!

My DH is being such a great guy... he hardly rolls his eyes any more when I mention my obsessive planning and excitement!!

How did you teach him that! OMG one more eye roll from DH and he will have a time out, lol. Been married for 23 years you would think he knows me better. Uggg so looking forward to the cruise, can not come fast enough and then slow down so we can be on forever.

Super excited about our pre- and post-cruise WDW stays! I've been logging into "My Disney Experience" often, sometimes to tweak our dining reservations, but mostly just to see if we might be able to test out the new MagicBands. Two weeks ago, I was able to link our Annual Passes! Wednesday night, I was able to sign up for FastPass+'s!! Then, last night, the link for MagicBands was finally live!!! DH and I were able to customize our bands (color and name) and they will be shipped to our home mid-September! :cool1: Can't wait to try them out! I believe they are supposed to be used as keys to our hotel door, park admission tickets, FP vouchers, and for charging priviliges! Fun!
Thats exciting! I was hoping we can use the bands and Fast Pass+ though i don't have that option when i log in on line. Looks like they are still on the testing phase with the Magic Bands so you're one of the lucky ones. :)
