What's up for the weekend, Buds? :)

Big family dinner? A weekend jaunt out of town? Or are you planning to get down and dirty in the garden...weather permitting of course! :)

A wee bit early perhaps, but...

Happy Easter!!! :)

Good morning Kim.

Saturday DS plays soccer on Martha's Vineyard while Abigail will stay with friends and participate in the neighborhood egg hunt.

Sunday we are going across town to have easter dinner with my sister. DH has to work , of course. The only holiday we spend together is Christmas.

Oh those bunnies are PRECIOUS! :teeth:

We will be going to Ellensburg on Sunday for Easter Dinner with my inlaws. The rest of the weekend will be spent puttering around here... including some garden time. :)

I plan to put my new Rose Pillars together and get them into the back garden - in anticipation of the climbing Joseph's Coat Roses arriving some time in the not too distant future. I need to do some light weeding in a few places too. Things are sprouting and growing fast around here. I just need to keep the weeds at bay so the plants can win the race!

Besides being Easter with all the Easter plans. Dinner at one of my DD, the annual egg hunt before dinner, this is also a very busy weekend for our family.

Today is paper passing day on the old homestead. While we were away at Disney one of my DD's and her DH purchased my DH family homestead. This is a home that my DH his brothers, Dad and Uncles built. Saturday is moving day. While everyone is helping with the move, I will be home cooking for Sunday and tending to the demands of William.

Who is William? For some reason my DD has decided to raise a bird instead of a child. This is fine with me until I have to sit this bird. He's a Blue Crowned Conure. He's noisy, bites and makes a mess. For those who do not know what a conure is: Blue Crown Conure

We spend the Saturday before every Easter with my extended family at our cabin on Pine Lake. We hang out, eat a lot and have a big candy hunt for the kids. This has been a family tradition since my mom was a child. My grandfather and his brothers built the cabin on the lake in 1918 and it is definitely a cabin. No heat, no potable water, no telephone...very relaxing. I have fond memories of pine cone fights in the pouring rain, girls against boys! Sunday we go to brunch at my parents and then home to have dinner with just my little family.

No washroom either, Mary? ;) It sounds like a wonderfully rustic escape! What a nice family tradition. I hope you have a great time. :)

William is a parrot!! Oh my Mamu....friends of ours had a parrot(I don't know what kind), his name was Rufus, he could be VERY noisey! :) The site says that the Blue Crown Conures are fairly calm. I hope that's true for William...and you!

I remember you telling us about your DD and her DH buying your DH's family home. Both you and Mary are keeping the family heirlooms together, the family staying connected. :)

We did some yardwork today too, Dixie, mostly cleaning up the beds, and cutting back some of dead stuff we had left last fall. It's nice to finally see signs of growth around here. The bleeding hearts are starting to sprout, the geum is sporting some new leafy greens...finally!! :)

I'm very curious to hear how you like your Joseph's Coat rose. I hope you'll let us now when it arrives. :)

Is this a big neighbourhood event, Vanessa? We don't have anything like that going on around here, but it sounds like so much fun!

Bummer about your DH......{{{{ Hugs }}}}

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!! :)

Snowwark: My grandpa added a bathroom to the cabin before I was born. The toilet and sink are plumbed with water from the lake, as is the kitchen sink. No shower though, that's what the lake is for! :D The place is a family treasure. It was the first cabin on the lake. Now the city has sprawled out that way and people live there year round and commute to Bellevue and Seattle. I think it's cool to look at from the lake. Our little white cabin surrounded by million dollar homes!

Wow! What a great family tradition. Spending a day together at the lake in the old cabin. Sounds wonderful!

This was a beautiful weekend here. Hubby took off Good Friday and I'm usually off on Fridays too. So we went to another old estate which is a horticultural delight. I want to post something about that in the near future.

Saturday was errands and running around and lots of work done in the yard/garden. More clearing out of leaves and stuff. Overseeded some bare spots in the lawn. Cleared dead leaves off the peonies (they are sprouting!). Just happy and content puttering around. Hubby worked on changing the water in the hottub and raked leaves out of that area too.

Easter Vigil Mass Saturday night and stayed in bed till nearly noon on Sunday! While son spent afternoon out with friends home from college, DH and I went to the more local aboretum for a very pleasant walk among the daffodils! Then, 5 p.m. we all met up for dinner at a local restaurant with son and extended family. Back to our home for (second) dessert. In-laws left early and then relaxing night home.

Great weekend!

Oh- and I got an azalea bush from BIL! :D

I couldn't have planned a better weekend.
