Easter week Trip Report

Here is the scavenger hunt.

We met at the campfire for 9:30. Received our egg and had one hour to take pictures of our egg with the following signs:

We jumped on the golf cart and away we went. We only had one hour and these signs are at checkin, marina, Settlement Trading post, Meadows Trading post, pool, bike barn, near River Country, creek side meadow, quiet pool. You get the idea. Very difficult to complete. We got most and finished in fifth with 55 points.

This was a very fun activity. This should be a must do if you are ever here at Easter. All in all a great activity.

I hope the pictures are larger for you BamaEd. Maybe we both need new glasses.

Trying to look for a Banana Cabana tonight! If not, we will post the menu in case something else can substitute. Animal kingdom was good. Post that in a bit!

Fort over and out.

Thanks for thinking of me Ed! I am specifically wanting to know if I will be able to get my favorite pool bar drink from Disney which is the Banana Cabana. Apparently the Meadows pool bar does not have it on their menu so I'm hoping the tavern does.

I had it on our last trip when we were at Pop after a very stressful flight, getting lost in airport, check in mixup, etc. and let's just say that after two of those I was feeling the magic! Since our trip to the fort will be starting out with a 14 hour drive I may need some instant magic when I get there and need to know where to go.............

PS Loving the TR so far!

Ah, so NOW the truth comes out... :rolleyes2

Ed, the bigger pictures are much appreciated.

I'm going to butt out of your TR now and just read along.

Thanks Man! Bama Ed

No butting out allowed! The more the merrier. We did not get to crocketts yet, but we will! Still taking requests too!

Animal Kingdom was the agenda today. Rope drop was 8 am and we arrived about 8:30. Over to Dinoland for TriceraTops and Primeval whirl!

Sorry for the blurry photos.

Then Tough To Be A Bug and Meeting Mickey and Minnie.

image.jpg

Next the Festival of the Lion King and Safari.

Then we had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. We came back to the Fort for our daily nap! I mentioned we nap on vacation, right?

Hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill and getting ready to watch a movie with the family. While eating we had a visitor at the window. He sat there for about 20 minutes. He is beautiful. We also had a black snake come right across the road in front on campsite. Freaked out the girls a bit.

Tomorrow is offsite at the American Girl Doll Store for the 7 year old. They are only young once. I will post more tomorrow. Have some stuff on the comfort station and arcade upcoming! And Crocketts! Drinks and all!

Fort ...over and out!

Fort ...over and out!

Ok after 10 years in the Army we need to clarify," over" is used when one is expecting a reply at the end of a transmission. "out" is used on your final transmission and no reply is required. These therefore are never used together. Have a great night.

Ruthies, I hope FSU Ed has some luck but I have not seen the banana cabana before, and let's just say I have been to most of the beverage establishments.

HAHAHA! I love that everyone is searching for this drink now!

I actually found the recipe online after our last trip and I made it for our beach trip last summer. It's very tropical and refreshing and was quite good on the beach. But the best part of it is the feeling it gives me. You know how a smell or hearing a certain song can transport you to a certain time and make you feel like you are there again? Well this drink does that to me, makes me feel like I'm back to the first day of my Disney trip, that feeling you get when you finally feel you are there and you still have the whole trip ahead of you. Love it! I guess if worse comes to worse I can make the drink and stick it in my fridge to have when I get there but I am hoping to have an official Disney version....

I appreciate everyone's help!! I've checked all the online menus I can find for crocketts and haven't found the drink menu, just the food menu. I'll be happy to post the recipe if anyone is interested in making the cabana themselves.

FSU Ed great pics, I wish they had that scavenger hunt year round and not just for Easter, it looks like a lot of fun.

Is there any way that you can scan a copy of the scavenger hunt and post/send it. I think that is a great idea for my family trip to get everyone acquainted with FW?

Please :flower3:

Just getting back from a very busy day. Will post pictures later.

We went swimming at pool, American Girl Doll Store and Tea, and Cinderella at Downtown Disney. Saw testing of the boat cars, ate at the food trucks, now back at trailer.

We can scan the scavenger hunt when we get home. The picture route is all we have right now. Those three pictures are all we were given. Cool hunt though. We will ge t with you once we are home.

Tomorrow is Magic Kingdom and Crocketts Tavern. Pictures to come.

Let's start with the pool. This morning about 9 am. The girls had alone time at the pool. Slides and all were empty until 9:30! This is another example of early bird gets the worm.

These are of the girls and empty pool.

Very productive morning.

Next we were off to the American Girl Doll store. Let's just say that this is a money machine similar to Disney and perfect for the seven year old in your life.

Next up after tea... Cinderella the movie at Downtown Disney. We had not seen the movie yet. It was a very good take on the story. Girls both enjoyed it.

image.jpg

Saw two in depth move trailers for Inside out and Tomorrowland. Looks like a big summer for Disney Pictures.

image.jpg

image.jpg

Also saw these two in the lobby.

The Frozen short was great. They are missing another merchandising opportunity with Elsa being sick ( not giving away the spoiler)! It was cute.

Then we walked around Downtown Disney for a minute. We ate at the food trucks. There are four to choose from, one for each of the four parks.

image.jpg

We had the sweet potato puffs and pierogis.

image.jpg

image.jpg

We enjoyed both very much. Good food on the go.

After eating, we spotted the new boats that are Also cars being tested. They were very cool to see. These will be at the boathouse when it opens in the near future.

We had a very busy day. More from the fort tomorrow. Good night"

Ed and Suzy, your trip report is awesome. I (we) are your lost Fort Camper friends from several years ago. Are these cars (boats) going to replace all of the smaller boats used as rentals? Are they going to be at the Fort and the other resorts on Bay Lake? Looks like fun. Enjoy the rest of your visit, and hopefully you will be back in late December so we can visit in person again.

Barb, the boats/ cars are only at a new resturant call3d the Boathouse at Downtown Disney. I should of clarified. They are rumored to be available to rent complete with the boat captain. They were the ones in them last night. It was fun to see.

As for December, we check in December 27. Check out is Jan 2 for us. We look foward to seeing you and the cows! Hope you are well and thawing out.

We are off to Magic Kingdom. Rope drop is 7. We wil be a little late. Post from Crockett s later today!

Great TR and Pics. The boatcars are pretty neat. I think I read on the News/Rumors forum that they will rent for $100 w/captain-driver. Not sure how long of a trip.

j

Teamubr I think that was for just 20 minutes and it is more of a guided tour type thing with the captain doing all the driving and you are not allowed to drive it yourself, I could be wrong though but I think that is what I read. Seems a steep price to me even for Disney!

It does appear that the boat cars will do a loop around the waterway at Downtown Disney. 20 minutes for one loop seemed about right. They were pretty slow.

We re reporting tonight from the trailer. Just returned from a full day at Magic Kingdom. Going to start with our day and then we will back track to some other things we have found along our way.

Magic kingdom. We got to boat dock about 8:15.

Beautiful morning.
