Eastbound Repo SINGLE/SOLO PARENTS Aug 2008

I was hoping to join you but after finding out that I spent 4+ hours on hold for nothing...................

Yes I did get a booking online but I could have gotten Tier 1 pricing if I had actually been in queue! Yes I'm bitter! I was doing this all on my own, no TA and myself. I am waiting to hear back from DCL and IC to see what they are going to help with. I really wanted to be sailing with my friends but at what cost! Especially since it wasn't my fault that I was in limbo and they only thought after 4+ hours to dissconnect me to find out my number to call me back and apologize! I hope they do right by all of us that got stuck in "On Hold Limbo!" Apologizes don't put food on my plate! Luckily my DD15 is being understanding but I know that she wants to sail with friends from before and really is trying to be mature about it!

I couldn't stop crying yesterday and still get teary eyed everytime I think about it! At least I did this from work and did not lose out on a days pay too!

Im sure there are many more nutters out therel'ike me that have used a couple of TA & come Sunday many cabins will be available,keep in touch.

Thought I would update you all. Come to find out my agent with Dreams Unlimited was out ill and "transferred" my request to another agent. That is where the bottom fell out. Received several emails from various agents throughout the day with various comments/responses but nothing definite and no explanation.

FINALLY got a quote late this evening (please note that quote was titled Walt Disney World Orlando Vacation request???). Ready? Are you sitting? (taking deep breath)

Quote is for the category we wanted! Price is GREAT!! Uh, wait a minute...WESTBOUND??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Every single bloody email I have sent/received clearly states that we want the EASTBOUND!!!

Would someone just shoot me now??? Could these people possibly be any more incompetent??? I have tried to be nice. Tried to be patient. But that was the final straw. I am done. These boards need a new sponsor!

Read my post above & you will see that l too was booked on the wronge cruise(westbound)By one TA,DU!!!!!!!

It wasn't DU that this happened to! I think it was that they brought in inexperienced booking agents!

I'll let you know later Sue if I'm going or not!

I am waiting to here back from IC. They promised to contact me today.

Wow, I am about as emotionally exhausted as one can get!!!

I am officially back on the Eastbound Repo. Not the categor that I wanted and not very happy with the price but we are on the ship.

Dreams Unlimited took full 100% responsibility for the incredible SNAFU in which I found myself stuck in. I am booked in a category 10 (God help me if a category 9 doesn't open up soon...16 days without a window!!!) with late seating. My kids are older so I could really care less about our dining time. John at DU was able to give us additional on board credit to try and mend the sour taste in my mouth.

See you in 18 months!

Oh Gina. I'm so glad they came through for you. Don't worry, I'm positive more rooms will open up tomorrow when the depostis are not paid or the people with double bookings decide what they want.

Well John at DU has been checking everyday to try and snag a cat 8 or 9 for me but no luck. He said that DCL is NOT releasing the cancellations when they open up...likely filling their own waitlists wit them rather than releasing them into the inventory pool.

What does that mean for me?? I am just gonna have to make friends with someone with a cool balcony room so I can move in I promise to keep snoring to a minimum

We were booked on the 11day med but trans to transatlantic a few days ago,plan to stay in DW 6 days after cruise,got a great price 1 way flight home (Brits,but live in Spain)
looking forward to meeting you in just a few(well 6 !!)months.
That board is megga,do you know whether there are any other solo parents really would be nice to match up for palo ressies,martini,winetastings..hic!

I saw that! I had to check to make sure I was on the right thread!LOL

RM is also a solo traveller. But we don't have to worry about that, there is always someone around willing to keep the likes of us company!LOL

We are only staying 2 days afterwards as DDs start school on the Tuesday! PC it will be back to reality, which I'm not looking forward to!

I am spending a week in Paris before the Med and then taking the train from Paris to Barcelona with a few of the people that are sailing.

I officially will not be sailing on the Eastbound Repo with you fine folks

The good news is that I FINALLY got a category 9 cabin but the bad news is that it's $8,000 for the 3 of us without airfare, transfers, excursions, tips, etc. I just simply can not afford it. My TA is not willing to eat the $2,000 price difference from what I should have paid had my reservation request not been lost on 1/31 and I can't justify spending that kind of money.

I was able to book a secret port hole room on the August 3 Mexican Riviera and I will just have to be content with that.

I wish you all a very wonderful cruise!!!

thanks to fellow" solos plus kids "managed to fit in 2 palo brunches & 2 dinners(we can "share" our ressies!)

Hello all!
I'm a single Mom with a DD who will be 9 a week from today! We live in Belgium right now, and figured that after our Med cruise last June, we wouldn't be sailing DCL again until we return to the states in 2010. Well I was wrong there! Our last cruise (3rd time) on the Magic was absolutely amazing!

We're supposed to go on the Crown Princess to Russia in June 2008, but if the rumors of DCL doing Northern Europe are true.....we will cancel the Princess cruise if we can get on DCL.

Soooo, now I'm thinking that maybe we'll try to get on a Panama Canal cruise in 2008. First things first though, we have a family reunion Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Magic in December. I'll book a couple reservations onboard for the discount, and then we'll see what happens with the 2009 announcements.

So to make a VERY long story short. We MAY be joining you ladies on your cruise!

If it doesn't work out, I'm definitely interested in coordinating future trips with other single Moms!

Well I just faxed a request to Inventory Control to get waitlisted for a Cat 3 for this sailing. Meanwhile I'll keep checking back with them to see if anything else opens up. I really want a Verandah for this itinerary.

Sure, just click on any of the pictures to see a full sized version. Then right click on the picture and you can select copy and then paste it into whatever program you use on your computer!
