Why! Hello there! Are you lost or did you come here on purpose? Doesn't matter; now you're trapped and you have to read on.

I'm Rosie. A 46 year old grown child. I loooooooove Disney and God Bless my family....they indulge me.
Let's meet them all shall we?

Me:

No, I'm not at Disney and yes I do carry a stuffed lion backpack around.
James:

This man has suffered me for 25 years!! He supports by Disney addiction patiently and gently.
Zena:

She...and I quote "Would rather be hit by a truck than go to Disney!"...I love her regardless!
Tara:

Tara is my Disney traveling companion. She's great fun and gets us great service if our waiters are straight. ;)

My Goat Friend:

For my friends on the Gay and Lesbian Board :rolleyes1

Now that you've met the clan....I'll tell you I'm the only one going :lmao: I simply like to show my beautiful family off.

This trip is for my just for my Mother and myself. Mom lives in NYC and I live in Portland Oregon. I have not seen Mom in almost two years. It's going to be a great reunion....if only I can snore louder than she does and fall asleep first!

Mom:

Here we are all dolled up for my sister's wedding.
But we really look like this:

That's us five years ago at Disney. This trip will be bigger! Better! It's the proverbial arm AND leg!

So are you ready for the details?? If you believe in Fairies...then clap your hands

Every year it's the same ole same ole for Christmas. Mom is 3000 miles away and doesn't need another sweater or Joan Baez cd. Think! Think! Think! What to get Mom for Christmas?

Having just come back from Disneyworld with Tara I am eager to plan my next trip. What better way to pretend I'm being altruistic and loving than to plan a trip for myself and invite Mom along?

First things first: Pick a date. October! actually I always go in October because I hate the heat, I don't like crowds and Epcot hosts Food and Wine.

Did I mention my Mother is Italian and loves to eat? I'm Italian too of course, but I'm sort of the black sheep of the family. No, not because of the goat; but because I ( quoting here) "eat like a bird". Yes, I like crumbs and pop corn....
Seriously, I don't have the appetite the rest of the clan seems to have been born with...but I can eat my weight in chocolate.

Getting the DDP was a no brainer. I could pay it all up front and appear to be the most generous daughter when I say....order anything on the menu...(except an appetizer...I heard those are poisoned).

Airfare: I used to have a love affair with Jetblue. Darling Tara found life in Portland much too sedate and moved back to NYC two years ago to live among the pisans. Jetblue flew a red eye out of PDX that landed at JFK. It was easy and breezy to go visit her. Every once in a while they'd have a crazy fare of $99 each way and sometimes I'd go just for a long weekend.....Hey don't judge me...she's my BABY.

Anyhow....I thought "This will be perfect-I'll fly the red eye into JFK, meet Mom there and together we'll fly to MCO!"

Everything is decided: October 18th through October 25th. Coronado Springs Resort on the DDP. Then I sweetly turn to James and say...."Hand me your Visa."

NEXT: A perfect plan is foiled.

Consider me the first to be trapped by your report! Enjoying it so far and it sounds like it will be a very fun trip. :thumbsup2

Bless you! I shall reward you with pixie dust and a cannoli....but you have to come to Portland to get it.
Not the pixie dust.....the cannoli...

Here's a cannoli for you! Or would you prefer some struffuli?

So Rosie, what night are we doing Food and Wine? :thumbsup2

Ok I am on board too! Can't wait to read more. My trip is a year away so I am living through the joy of others!

OK... I am reading too.. you caught me with the Italian Mother thing and of course cannolis etc.....Let's go, I am so ready to live this vicariously with you.. Give Mike a hug for me, I miss him.

Have a great time Rosie......give us the good, the bad and ugly, we are so ready. :)

Marsha

I sure hope that in your TR there is mention of making plans to meet up with me, your new DIS friend?>!?!?!?!? A gal can always dream, can't she?!?!

Rosie, I am blaming you for the dream I had last night...cannolis everywhere! Its just not right to torture a fellow Italian like that! :rotfl:

I'm so very glad you've all decided to come back! (To everyone I bribed with a $5 lure...the check is in the mail).

Now? Where was I? Oh! That's right, I was in the process of making my siblings look very, very bad at Christmas!

Before I continue I'd like to tell you a little bit about my Mom. She's somewhat hard to impress. For instance, for my sister's engagement party I made two two tiered black walnut cakes, with raspberry puree filling and white chocolate buttercream:
cake002-1.jpg
My Mom took one look at it and merely said:
"I don't like raspberry."

Ok...so somewhat hard is an understatement...the woman is a ROCK!!

Back to my story-

Christmas rolls around and I pack the requisite box of trinkets for my Stepdad and my brother.....there among the bulk is an envelope with a Disney pin attached. (The same pin that's on my Lion backpack.)

I am sure my Mother saw it and dismissed it as a gift certificate to some inane place like the Olive Garden.
Upon opening the letter she would have been greeted by Wally
DisneyWorld2007035-1.jpg
Wally it Tara's stuffed Koala. You didn't think he was mine did you???? That's just crazy talk! Everyone knows koalas and lions don't get along!!! I have a stuffed leopard!
DisneyWorld2007031-1.jpg

Anyhooooo- Wally welcomes my Mom to Disneyworld and tells her she'll be taking an all expense paid trip with yours truly.
Mom called me IN TEARS!! That's right folks! I made my MOM cry.
I MADE MY MOM CRY!!!
Taken out of context I guess that doesn't sound so good.

Oh Well.....

Next up: My love affair with Jetblue is OVER!

I'm in for your pre-trippy!!!! I'm going to be the World Oct. 15-22 so I'll be on the lookout for your lion backpack while we are there!!!!

I guess I can hang out here until my $5 check shows up. ;-) :-)

And Rosie I'm right there w/ u w/ the Hard mom thang. I tried taking my mom to Disney... I pretty sure I at least got a "thank you" in there somewhere. I'm so glad u got to her like that, it's GREAT!
