First lie in of the holiday for me: 8am! We were showered, dressed and down for breakfast at 9:50, it finished at 10 so we just made it. Since the weather forecast had been bad for the next few days the whale watching trip we had hoped to do was cancelled that day so we tentatively rescheduled it for tomorrow (lets see how that turns out…) and decided to do another day in Boston today. We got the T to the Boston Museum of Science, another one that was included in the Citypass (you can get a bunch of add-ons to the basic ticket which we chose not to do, a good thing as there was more than enough to do without them) The museum is on three floors and full of interesting exhibits, many of which are ‘hands-on’ and me and Steve had great fun doing all the experiments… I guess it’s aimed at kids but we saw people of all ages there, I think the adults were having more fun to be honest! Definitely one of the best museums I’ve ever been to and you could certainly spend a full day there, especially with the optional ticket add-ons.

I bought a fridge magnet and a ‘rhinovirus’ (common cold) microbe plushie from the gift shop and we set off for the T again, this time we were headed to Harvard Square. Once there we walked to the university’s main campus aka the ‘yard’ which contained our next destination: The Harvard Museum of Natural History. This was included in our Citypass too, but in hindsight I think visiting the science museum on the same day taints your expectations a bit! It’s very interesting and not a bad museum by any means, just more your traditional very academic/behind glass/no touching kind of place with lots of stuffed animals, bugs and the like.

Spotted in Cambridge, random chess games are always a good thing.

After our visit we walked back across the campus (it really is pretty and has a great vibe, I bet it’s a fun place to go to university for the lucky ones who get in!) towards Palmer Street to have some late lunch/early dinner at Veggie Planet. I had the half pizza (Henry’s Lunch) and bowl of soup (squash bisque) combo with an orange juice and Steve had a Portobello Redhead pizza and a coke. I enjoyed mine but Steve said the base was burnt on his, though he wouldn’t return it for another one (men!) After our meal we went to the Harvard Store where I got a Boston fridge magnet and Steve got a Harvard T-shirt.

Carrot spaceship!

On our walk back to the T stop we visited a shop called Black Ink which had lots of fun quirky stuff: I got a Wonderbread sandwich box for me, a retro caravans calendar for my dad and some Asian cutesy cartoon character rubbers and a notebook for my sister. Next we got the T to Newbury Street to visit a couple of shops there: Johnny Cupcakes (coolest clothes shop ever, it’s styled like a bakery!) where I got a necklace and Steve got a T-shirt and Karmaloop (didn’t buy anything, still looking for trainers and their website has tons so that was a bit disappointing) We were now done for the day and got the T back to the hotel. A little while later we walked to Target to get some snacks and I bought some clothes (Nick and Norah pyjamas, three tops and some black tights) $125 total, amazing how it adds up in here! We also stopped at Best Buy as Steve wanted to buy an iPod Touch but his credit card was declined: He rang Nationwide and apparently this was automatic and he would be able to do the transaction tomorrow after a call from the security team (and yes he did ring before we went away) Back to the hotel and bed by 11:30ish.

everywhere looks so clean and smart :thumbsup2 hope you got to see the whales

Another lovely day. I think Nationwide allow so many transactions a day before stopping it.

Have caught up with the whole TR to date and it sounds as if you had a great time.....your pics are fab:thumbsup2

Brilliant report, your trips are the type of trips I would love to do.:goodvibes

another busy day with great photos for your wonderful memories
