Not sure who was more shocked - me or my ressie assistant -- when I was trying to book our character meals for a last minute planned trip for January. Everything we wanted was available for our 1st choice dates and times.

I'm hoping this will also help reflect (somewhat) the park volume for those days.

We booked Crystal Palace, Hollywood & Vine and Tusker.
Our boys are 3 and 5 (no princesses for me sadly) so we also heard we should check out the Sci-Fi Theater for dinner.

Any other suggestions? We'll be there 8 days and have the basic dining plan.

Thanks ~ shari

Our whole family liked O'hana for dinner at the Poly. There were eight of us and the only one who gave me a complaint was my DD4, who only eats PB&J. (They actually accomodated this too with her own personal "uncrustable" sandwich!). I would recommend this one. I havent tried breakfast, but have heard good things about that meal as well.

We booked Sci Fi today for 1/8 for a party of NINE(!), no problem at our chosen time.

We have also booked:
Crystal Palace
Akershus Princess Breakfast
Kona Cafe
Boma (LOVE this buffet - lots of options for all types of eaters)
Donald's Character breakfast at Tusker House
Chef Mickey's (may cancel this one...it's for 7:20 a.m.)
Tutto Italia

With boys, I'll bet they'd love Sci Fi. I know people have enjoyed Ohana's and Whispering Canyon Cafe (at WL). WCC plays some funny stunts that your boys may like. My son, on the other hand, does not enjoy standing out for any reason and would hate it.

Same for me. We just booked a last minute trip in Jan (25-30) and I called just today to book the restaurants since we got the dining plan. We had no problems booking all 7 restaurants we wanted at the times we wanted. I'm so excited.

We're going Jan. 8-15th. I'm excited too because I was able to get pretty much every reservation I wanted. Anything that wasn't the time I wanted was only a change by about 10 minutes! :)

I think it's the economy and the time of year. You'll probably get lucky with the crowds, too! Enjoy the years when you dont have to travel with the rest of us during the school holidays!

The Sci-Fi diner is really fun. We like to have lunch there, but they serve a dinner as well. The movies are really funny, not scary. And the cars that you will sit in while you eat your meal are so much fun. Your boys will probably love it!

And 'Ohanas is fun for kids. They play games like coconut races, limbo, group dances, etc. and let all the kids join in. It helps with the wiggles!:)

We are going in Jan with a 3 year old boy in tow also. We are doing Crystal Palace, Tusker breakfast with Donald, Cape May breakfast with Minnie and Goofy, Sci Fi (this is a must every trip even if it's all adults) Boma and Coral Reef. My grandson loves fish, he has a saltwater aquarium, so I know he'll love seeing the big aquarium.
