Ease My Aching Heart - Part II

So, after much thought, I finally told my niece that my DH & I are going to WDW in September for our "adult" trip. She was a little upset at first, but I told her that we really needed a trip for just the 2 of us before we start a family. She was ok with that.

After a while she started to get upset again. So...due to so many great ideas from the fine people of this board, I told her that she could help me plan my trip. She was elated!!! Also, my BIL is planning another trip next year for the family, so I told her she should start planning for that trip. I also told her that when we got back I could give her some ideas of where to go.

Also, I told her to tell me exactly what she wants from WDW and I will get it for her. She was very happy with that. I told her she has a while before she needs to make a choice.

I have also been taping all of the shows on the Travel Channel for her and putting them on a tape for her. She loves it. I taped Secrets and Undiscovered Disney so far. She has watched them about 100 times. She is so funny.

So, I would really like to thank everyone for their great advice. It really helped me with making the decision of whether or not to tell her. And, it all turned out ok in the end.

i know how you feel we just returned from a trip to wdw without our kids. it was more upsetting for me than it was for the kids not to take them
but we didn't want to take them out of school.

I'm glad it's all working out - and I think your niece will have fun helping you plan, especially since she has a trip in her near future as well. Wow,I know that was hard to tell her!I would suggest doing something really special for her at WDW,such as taking the time to get as many character autographs as possible for her.Many of the characters will personalize their autographs with her name if you ask them.You could possibly also videotape some of the face characters telling her they are looking forward to seeing her on her trip.You could also mail her a postcard each day from one of the characters.HAVE A GREAT ADULT TRIP!!!!
