Early Roll Call For January 29, 2005 western....Anyone Out There?

the4nitzs-- any success on that potty training project??? I can use any tips you've found helpful! DD is rather independent minded...

MamaCrush - We are not having much luck potty training either. We ask her if she needs to go, her answer is "No Thank You". She even changes her own pullup, when she is wet. We tell her, she has to use the potty to go in the Mickey Pool. She had alot of fun playing in the one ear on our last cruise.

Hey all....

I am new to this post....and I am booked on the January 29 Western. I am far too excited and far too addicted to this board. Thanks to Crowleyfam for telling me of this thread.

Were any of you on the Eastern, Jan 10th of this year??????

I look forward to continuing chatting on this post and look forward to a wonderful cruise with all of you. It will be myself and my ds 17.

counting down...... pirate:

Welcome to the group TooPure4u. We were on 1-24-04 eastern cruise. My 2 DD can't wait to get back on the "Mickey Boat". :Pinkbounc

Hi Everyone!

Hope everybody is okay. After all of the hurricanes this year, I remember now why I like sailing in Jan!!

We live in Northern VA and we had what is left of Ivan come though here yesterday and today. My neighborhood had a tornado....I thought the weather looked like it was getting really bad so I made the 5 kids that were in my house go to the basement bathroom with my 80 year old mom. I was looking out the window upstairs when my my ears started popping very badly. I ran for the basement and with in a minute it was all over. Trees uprooted, cars moved, grills out in the street, a loud roar, it was really scary. The girls were crying and my mom was not happy. Anyway, no damage to the house....and for the most part neighbors houses are okay....just a lot of chain saws going all day long today.

I wish I could be on Mickey's boat now....but I guess it will come soon enough,

Have a good week,
Lisa

disneylover5....

thank god you are ok!!!!!

I have been through a typhoon (hurricane over the date line) and it is no joke. I was in Guam and saw the frail little houses flip over and coconuts everywhere. It is very scary but I am glad things worked out for you.

Just keep looking forward to sailing....

Tracy

Glad to hear you & your family are alright Lisa. Just over 4 more months to go untill we can get back on the "Mickey Boat".:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Is there anyone who is following this post who has girls 9-11 years old?

On the Eastern late Jan last year we had lots....my DD8 and DD10 are wanting to make e-mail fiends before the cruise......

Thanks

Hi all....

Just wanted to know if anyone who is part of this thread going alone with a child?? I am traveling alone with my ds 17 and would like to go to Palo's but I would hate going alone. I didnt get to Palo on my first cruise but would love to try the brunch or even the dinner.

Also, is there anyone with a ds around 15-17? My son would also like to make friends before boarding.

Thanks....

TooPure4u,
We have DS15 traveling with us as weel as his two best froends who are brothers....I call them my DS15 and DS16. Daniel (my son) is a sophmore and Michael is a sophmore and Matt is a junior. They will play basketball (we have taken this group on 3 different cruises, so we know what they will do). We did the fishing expedition on Castaway Cay and it was a blast. I am sure we will go fishing again.

Still looking for girls.....9-11.....
Lisa

All you experienced DCL'rs, can you advise on a couple of questions?

First, I have read all over about Palo, so I know what it is. What I don't know is when/if I should go. The brunch sounds great, so we will try for that for sure. Dinner is the question. I have seen posts that say "go for sure" and other posts that say "I wouldn't skip a rotation dinner if I were you". So why is Palo that much better for dinner than a rotational dinner?

Second, I have 2 kids DS4 and DS6. I plan on getting them in the children's programs. Is it a "drop in" type program where they can participate when and as long as we determine or is it set hours?

Thanks! Just trying to "maximize" the experience!!!

We went on two DCL cruises without going to Palo. Last Jan, we decided to make the effort to go. We went for dinner and loved it. We would go again....the problem is there is just too much food. Pace yourself so you can try each item. I think brunch sounds really good as well and think we will try that this time around.

We have used the children's programs each time we have cruised. You get a brouchure when you sign up at the beginning of the cruise. That way you and your child can pick and choose the activities and times. They also give you a pager for the entire cruise, so if your child needs or wants you while in the programs, they can page you and you can always be in touch. The programs are nice and my kids enjoyed them.

DL5-

My daughter (12) would be happy to exchange emails with your daughters. My son is 8 and he probably would as well if your youngest doesn't think boys are icky.

Feel free to contact us backchannel at drconroy@comcast.net to exchange the girls' addresses.

DisneyLover5,

Thanks for the link. One more question for all. My DW was under the impression that you needed to pick you children up for meals. The Navigator shows meals. Will they feed your kids for you? I ask this not to dodge the kids of course, but to maybe have a nice dinner with my DW!

Oh yes, they will feed your kids. My kids loved this part...having meals with their buddies. You can not pick up or drop off during meal time though, so you have to make sure they are there on time. They go up to Topsiders on Deck 9 and get to pick whatever they want to eat.

We are on the Jan 29, 2005 western, our first time on DCL. Our DD princess: will be almost 5 then, are there any families with a DD this age? we are on Deck 7. She is so looking forward to the camp (so is my DH and I we hope to have some alone time).

This is a great forum, have gotten a lot of info not in the DCL packets. The list for what to bring is very helpful, but what is the duct tape for LOL.

Can anyone recommend any of the excursions for us in Cozamel, DH wants to see the ruins but not sure if DD can make the hike, how tough is it?

We will be going to WDW after the cruise, will the DCL bus take us to the hotel; staying at PC; instead of MCO? or do we have to arranged other transportation (not renting a car). Any other info will be great, we are so excited to be going on DCL and can hardly wait!!

Welcome to our group mommy2mrb. We have 2 DD, they will be 5 & almost 3 when we cruise. DD5 can't wait to go back & play at the club.

Thanks, we are excited too:Pinkbounc . Any info you can pass along will be appreciated.

Hi all-

To the4nitz's and mommy2mrb (and others), we have a 5yo daughter, too. I think my DD would be more excited about the oceaneer club if she had "friends" going. Is there a way for the girls to "meet" prior to the cruise? Maybe share photos? Ideas anyone??

I've been to Cozumel several times, but always as a "single" - meaning late nights at "Carlos and Charlies" and "Senior Frogs!" FUN!! ** I think on this trip we're going to go to Chankanaab (sp?) and do the dolphin encounter. I wanted to do the Royal Dolphin Swim, but my DD is too young and the Swim and Encounter are at different times. My DD loves dolphins so I think this will be thrilling...for all of us! Look for info about it at the web site dolphindiscovery, but you can book the trip through dcl.

BTW, this board is an AWESOME place to get tips on the cruise. I also highly recommend the book "Passporter's Guide to DCL." I learned so much!!

And be sure to have a pre-cruise postcard sent to your daughter. Mine got hers from "Cinderella" saying how she was excited about meeting my DD on the ship. My DD was thrilled!!!!!! Even took it to show-and-tell at school I think the link to get the postcards is one of the first posts on this board.

Counting down the days!!
