Early or Late Flights Out

There are not many direct flights from Gatwick, England each day so I always book early to get the earliest flight and even then we don't land until after 1pm local time. On the way home I try to get the latest flight, meaning a relaxing morning and sufficient time to checkin back at the airport for a seat with plenty of legroom for DH on the overnight flight - that is unless we upgrade on the flight, even then I like to get there in plenty of time to checkin just to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Early out, late coming back! I got a direct flight for July...leave early, and will get in Orlando before 10!! I have a whole day!

Usually try to get out of work early and fly/drive out the night before. Then the next day is a full day of fun! (Oh, and we leave late, too -- why waste a minute?)

I prefer early flights, but when I've used Priceline you take what you get! Last year I had Priceline flights on American Airlines from my local airport to Chicago, then on to Orlando - arriving around 11 p.m. That was ok - because my SIL was going to be on the same flight from Chicago. Well -I got to the airport on a perfectly sunny day, and my flight to Chicago was cancelled - and it was the last American flight out that day! Fortunately, being a small airport - the Northwest counter was next door - and I asked if there was anything on the Northwest flight that was about to take off for Detroit. I was able to get switched to that flight and then another from Detroit to Orlando...but I had visions of not being able to leave town until the next morning, while my SIL got to WDW ahead of me!
