We are looking at possibly taking a trip in early November. We are used to going in summer with the long hours, so the shortened hours will take getting used to. I have some questions about that time of year for any of you who have gone then.

1. We stayed on property this past July and loved early entry. Is there a point when it doesn't open until 10? I would imagine it's much easier for the masses staying on property to get there at 9am. Or has that not been the case?

2. Any disadvantages aside from the short hours and refurbs?

Thank you!

#2: The Christmas Parade usually is taped the first weekend in November. This can create crowd congestion along Main Street and at the Castle, where the cameras and performances are located. If your trip covers that weekend and you aren't interested in the parade or performances, plan to be in other areas of DL during that time.

Any other suggestions out there?

The Avengers Half Marathon is November 14-16. Thousands of runners and families will be there, some the week before the race.

Are you sure that they don't film it the first week in December like they do at WDW?

DLR does the bulk of their filming in early November. The first weekend in December is traditionally when they do Candlelight Processional on Main Street.

In terms of early November, there is a chance that It's a Small World will still be closed. It usually re-opens with the start of the Holiday season, but no one is quite sure when that will happen this year because of the Avenger's Marathon. Otherwise, the best guess would have been November 7 (2014), but we'll have to wait and see if the Marathon changes the schedule.

Space Mountain might also be closed for the first few weekdays in November. It gets a Halloween overlay, which has to be removed.

In addition to short hours, it's also worth noting the evening entertainment is significantly reduced. World Of Color and the parade will run daily, but fireworks, Fantasmic!, and Mad T Party (the one at DCA, not to be confused with the spinning cup ride) only run on the weekends (Fri-Sun) before the start of the holiday season. After the holiday seasons starts, fireworks will run nightly, but Fantasmic! and Mad T Party continue to be weekend only (except Thanksgiving week).

We're planing on being there the 10 & 11 and thought it would be a slow time but forgot about Veterans Day. Oh well, we'll still have fun.

Space Mountain is typically closed for one day for the removal and 4 days when they put it up.

The last time I went to DL for my Birthday about 7 years ago it was so crowded that I will never go back at that time. It was around the date of November 7th and they did the CHristmas taping. Even though I would love to go back for my birthday, I had a such a horrible experience with crowds the whole time we were there. If it is not important to you, I would avoid that weekend.

We were there a few years (3?) ago during the parade taping. Thursday was nearly heaven, but Saturday, well, I just remember spending like an hour getting down Main Street (DH has an ECV, so no option to ride the train). Then, later, his battery was dead in NOS and when I asked as CM where we could charge it, he told me City Hall! Yeah, that wasn't going to happen easily! I don't recall the ride lines being all that bad, but moving about was stifling.

Yes.

The first time we went we inadvertently planned our trip during the day they film the Christmas Parade. It won't ruin your trip, but a little planning in advance will save you some headache if you get caught up in the crowd for the parade/the musical performances that will occur.

The train helped us out big time that day!
