EARLY morning...........

I don't know what the offerings are in Cove Cafe, but I think I remember reading somewhere that they had free cakes, desserts, pastries, etc. offered throughout the day. What about grabbing a pastry the night before, before Cove Cafe closes? You could wrap it up and it would be good the next morning. Then go up to the drink station and get some coffee. Does anyone know if this is possible?

The offerings in the Cove Cafe vary throughout the day. In the morning they have breakfast rolls and pastries and stones (most people call them scones, but they were as hard as rocks!). Mid to late morning it will switch to miniature desserts. In the late afternoon it switches to cheese and fruit on skewers.

I'm an early riser, also, and like a little something to eat with coffee at 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning.

My solution was to take an extra muffin from breakfast, (I pack a couple of baggies with me as well for just this purpose) and keep in the room cooler to take with me on an early coffee run at the drink station the next morning. Or at dinner the night before, just take an extra roll or two for the next morning to tide you over.

Best wishes.

you guys are very helpful and most creative......
since we're all early risers maybe I'll chat with some of you on our 2011 cruise while the sun rises....

here on LI Walmart opens at 7...one poster left the house at 5:30 to go there (in FL?)...when does it open elsewhere in this small, small, world?:confused3

Many WalMarts never close.

WOW! a 24 hour Walmart!!!!!!!!

Now, if they would put a 24 hour Walmart next to a Denny's (which there are none of here) on Long Island I would be all set early in the a.m.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Moon Over My-Hammie!

Wow, it is just so funny....

You are from NEW YORK, and here I am, in my small town in Indiana, and here, we are actually used to our 24 hour Walmart. And Denny's! (Not in my town, but about 20 minutes away)

We used to have a regular Walmart, and I think it opened at like 6 am.

LOL, I wanted to go to Target, but I knew that opened at 8. I thought all Walmarts were 24 hours or atleast opened at 6. Luckily, I wasn't in for a surprise, it was open :)

WAAAAAY off topic of original poster (hey! that's ME!):

On LI we have NO Super Walmarts..only "regular" Walmarts...it's a union issue even though the neighborhoods are "organized" into protest groups because Walmart hurts the litlle Mom & Pop stores (supposedly).....

Whatever you personally believe (and I don't really care) I am always jealous of friends of ours who get GREAT bargains on closeouts in GA.

I LOVE the baggie idea for a muffin-fest first thing in the a.m......you guys make me look like a slacker when it comes to planning and my family thinks I'm nuts (they're probably right, by the way):lmao:

I actually had the same idea about grabbing a muffin/pastry/whatever, and wrapping it for the next day. However, I cannot attribute it to creativity; only sheer laziness.

You see, in my college days, on Fridays, or any other day before a day I did not have class, I would frequently grab doughnuts/muffins/sandwiches/pizza from our dining hall and took it back to the quad with me, just so I would not have to get out of my room to go get food in the evening or next day. Sad, huh?

Just in case you were wondering, our food service manager, DID allow us to do this, and I was not breaking any rules. I know other colleges have a no take-out policy.

Gah, I miss college, and having all that food (not necessarily the amount, but the variety) at my disposal. Going on the cruise might bring me back to the good ol days!
