My wife and I really enjoyed walking from OKW to what was then the Disney Institute. We would get a little free coffee in the beautiful lobby while we go info about course offerings.

Time passes, things change.

We will be staying at VWL for a week and at OKW for a second week. Any ideas on places to walk to now? Free coffee would be nice, but all ideas will be appreciated, even if free coffee is not included.

You can still walk the same place, but you will end up at SSR instead. The little town feel of the main area where DI used to be is very nice, and you could always have coffee and fruit at Artist Pallette near SSR check in. We also like to walk the path to DTD from the building 55 area of OKW.

From VWL it's a great walk into Fort Wilderness!! My husband and I do that a lot when we are there!!

I agree with mrsswat....the walk to FW from VWL is a beautiful one. It's a paved bike path, and plenty wide so walkers don't get run over by bicyclers.

We've seen deer along the path, and the trip is about a mile one way, two miles round trip as I recall.

has the path btwn WL & FW reopened?
It was closed when we were there Oct 2-8 due to hurricane damage

We walk/jog even past the SSR bridge and go through the Disney West Side lot, the West side and PI as well, then back. I noticed on our last visit in September there was a sign up at the SSR bridge that said *no jogging* What is up with that? They dont want us to jog through SSR?

That might have been a cart path for the golf course. But if you go early in the AM, there won't be any golfers there yet. You can't go on the golf paths during the day. You can go from OKW to SSR to DTD. The one bridge is only about 100 yds total and the CMs working at the golf course told my husband to use that one.

Not sure what time it opens, but if you take the longer walk into DTD, the Kona coffee at Earl of Sandwich is the BEST!!! They even gave me a free refill. :D

The sandwiches at the Earl of Sandwich are yummy as well -- and probably the cheapest eats anywhere in WDW!!

DH and I walked alot at OKW this past summer but unfortunately never figured out how to walk to DTD or SSR!!! Some of the pathes were marked "golf carts only" so we stayed clear. I was too afraid to get yelled at~~LOL!! DH wanted to go but I chickened out!! We could see Cirque de Soleil tent but couldn't get there...................

I guess next trip I will get a map.

At BWV we would walk around the lake, then down to MGM and back around the lake again..................it was really nice and quiet in the a.m................

WE have also walked the path from VWL to FW............very nice, cool and quiet in the a.m............

I don't like to walk with coffee so I can't offer help there.

If you walk to the SSR resort from OKW, you can still get free coffee at the visitors center, as well as water, cookies, soda, and OJ. I think as long as they are still selling SSR, the center will be open. I am acyually not 100% sure of the OJ,as Disney has cut back on the free OJ in places. They used to leave a piture of OJ at your table with breakfast at the Kona Cafe, but not any more.
