Early Morning Flights - how early

We have done early morning which are tuff but doable but unless we were lucky and room was ready early for naps I would not plan on going out that night. We swim and relax the first day. We have now gone to leaving the night before, just more relaxing to wake up rested before our first park day.

Thanks for the replys! We're flying out of Philly, so I think we will go w/ the 8 am flight after all. I was thinking of a 10:10 one, but I'm afraid that the schedule will be really backed up - Philly morning plane rush hour can be brutal - nothing like getting in line for take-off & finding out your #17 in line! So, hopefully we'll get out somewhat quickly if we go earlier. We're only 1/2 hour away from the airport, so at least traffic will be light at that time of day. We're staying at Poly, so we'll just go to MK (since it's the closest park) til about dinner, then head back. We'll just go by how they're doing - as we always do w/ them. The next day is just Epcot, w/ no meals planned, so I'm not even setting the alarm. When we get up is fine - that's when they'll be refreshed & ready to go.

I'm not worried if we don't get much done that day - we'll be there for 10 days, so plenty of time to do & see what we want. I always go by their schedules, not mine, so that's why I'm concerned about waking them earlier than normal. They normally do sleep around 11 hours a night & I don't like to mess w/ that. Good tip on the food for the plane - I always have snacks, but I'll make sure I take stuff that's a little more filling, in case they're not in the mood yet to eat at the airport before we get on the plane.

We did a 7am flight with a 14yr old and a 9yr old this past October. The 14yr old was fine. The 9yr old had such a melt down in the car on the way to the airport that we were worried that she was going to have to stay home. Her poor little body didn't like being up at 5am. She moaned and cried and said she was cold and couldn't stop shaking.

She was fine once we got to the airport and got moving around. Thank goodness! And she was fine the whole day, and we were at the parks until around 7 pm. But she has already let it be know that she never wants to have a flight that early again, even if that flight is to Disney World.
