Just booked a western 1/17/04, and the only thing they had was late seating. When we did the eastern cruise had early, and worked. Have a 9 year old and 13 year old, and just can't see getting done with dinner at 10 pm. We're on the waiting list for early seating,,,,,,what do you think are the chances of getting it? Anyone have any experiences with this? If not, than talk me in to why the late seating is good :) ? Thanks to all!

My family was waitlisted for Main also. I would say about 20 days before our cruise- I was emailed by Donna at DU that we were reassigned to Main.
But even if you don't get Main- I would just go with whatever- my SIL had Late and said from now on they will do that.
You will have a great time whatever! Enjoy

If the waitlist doesn't come through, you can always ask them to change your seating once you board. On the first day of the cruise, the dining manager is available to handle such requests. Bear in mind that there's no guarantee, but they are usually able to accomodate you.

You can also call on occasion to see if there are any openings in the early seating. Most cancellations happen the week prior to the 60-day mark, when you can still cancel and get your whole deposit back. I've been able to do this and jump in and get what I want rather than just hoping the waitlist will come through.

We are going on our 3rd DCL. For the first cruise my children were 5 and 7 and needed early dinner. We were on the waitlist. Once on board, we discovered that we had been given early seating. My impression is that Disney is not interested in having the pre-school set at late seating.

However, my boys are now 10 and 12, we have asked for late seating for our 2004 cruise for many reasons. One being that we are able to stay up later and dinner at 8:30 will be okay. If the kids get hungry, they can have the pizza, burgers, ice cream by the pool without Mom telling them that they will ruin their dinner.
DS12 is looking forward to this. He feels that if he can eat all day that life will be good. When we had the 6 o'clock seating, we had to rush from the pool around 5 to get showered and ready for dinner, but now we will be able to do things at a more relaxed pace. We are looking forward to late seating. I am sorry that we aren't on the same cruise Degaf or we could have sat our children together for more fun.

Hi Degaf--

We are also on the Jan. 17th Western Magic!!! We are two families with kids (4,5,7,8,10) our problem is that the other family is waitlisted for early seating too:confused:

Here we wanted to go to the shows together and eat dinner together and now that might not happen. I am also curious to know if anyone didn't get their choice of seating after being on the waiting list?

Hope this works out for both of us.

I was on the 4-night cruise 10/2001. I had the late seating and was wait listed for early. As soon as I go on board I went to check and there was a long line of people wanting to change to early also. Unfortunately I did not get the early seating, at the time my kids were 1 and 7. The late seating did not work out well at all. They were just too young. I’m going on the 7 day 8/23/3 and I have early, the kids are 9,7,5,3 (I’m going with a friend also) and I know when we go out to eat late they are not happy at all. I think it all has to do with how old your kids are.
If you do want the early seating and don’t have it when you get on board I would go and try to change the seating as soon as you get on board.
Hope this helps
