We usually go in off season, but my son is getting older and hate to miss so much school. For those of you that have went in early June is it bad. compared to off season?

we just went for our honeymoon June5-12 and it is more crowded than the off season but not too bad yet if you go early in june. Keep in mind that it also gets very hot and to plan on taking a break at the water park or at your resort pool. We did enjoy ourselves and I am sure you will too

This year we were there the first week of June. I thought it was VERY crowded. While I enjoy the offseason, we've also been to WDW during the summer months. This past early June I found it to be as busy as any prime summer week. On the other hand, we just returned from the week after Thanksgiving. Most rides were only 10- 15 min waits, or less.

we were also there this year, 1st week of june. unbearably hot and very crowded!!!!!!!!! we decided we would never go that time of year ! we really felt because of the lines and heat we didn't do everything we wanted.....so we went again  in late september and we had the vacation of dreams.....major rides were walkons such as thunder/splash mountain, space mountain etc! and nice temps in mid 80's........although we took our kids out of school for a week, my older son was given homework to do so he wouldn't miss too much..........i think he learned a lot on his trip! :)

ok you have almost talked me into doing off season again. We also went in sept. and had a great vacation. I hat e to fight crowds especially in heat. :sunny:

I LOVE going in June! Who wants to go on vacation when it's cold out?! Doesn't make sense to me. After all, most everything to do at Disney is outside! It's a definite plus to have longer hours at the parks (you're paying the same price for your ticket no matter what time of the year- why go when you have less park time? :confused3 ). All parades are running, the staff is beefed up, it's great! We have never gone back to the hotel to take a rest. Sit down for a while at the park if you need to, but you should not have to go to your hotel to get out of the sun. As for the crowds, they may be higher in June, but to me, that's part of being at Disney. I enjoy seeing that others are having as great a time as I am. It is still manageble. Just plan your schedule before you go, utilize every second, and you'll be just fine. Have a great time. We're going back in June of '07!!!! princess:

We were there the 2nd - 9th this year. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th were not too bad, but the rest of our vacation was a MAD HOUSE!!!!

We did May 28th through June 5th last year. I honestly didn't think it was that bad. It was definitely more crowded than our usual trips in the off season (late October/early December), but attractions were still doable. The only thing that got annoying is that there was thunderstorms practically everyday that lasted for hours. It was a good thing we brought a 2nd pair of sneakers.

Oh and Pleasure Island was packed because of Gay Days, but it was sooooo much fun!!!

I'd go again during that time period.

We love going in early June! We usually pick the first Saturday in June and stay until the following Saturday. It's crowded but not as bad as later in the month (or in the summer for that matter). The parks begin running longer hours so you can manage the rides:crowds ratio really well if you work a plan. We wouldn't consider going at any other time of the year!

Though I will admit we went once in September when my oldest was 20 months old (he's almost 10 years old now) and it was FABULOUS! But we won't take the boys out of school for vacation, it's just our preference. :)

We have been then and in late April/early May. We didn't find the crowds to be too bad in early June but the heat was terrible.

Your question is: "Is it bad compared to the off-season?" The answer quite honestly is if you try to compare it to the off-season then 'bad' doesn't adequately describe the droves and droves of people, the heat, the humidity, and the rainshowers- which often last longer in June than they do during the rest of the summer.

Having said all that, I am in the same situation as you are. I would very much prefer to go during the offseason, but school conflicts- so we don't have much of a choice. I am not gonna pull them out of school for anymore trips to WDW, as they are at the age where school has to be the priority.

We went May 27 - May 31 and Thanksgiving week this year.

Long story, had to leave early in May due to illness. We have same issues, our DD's attend very strict private schools and we do not remove unless they are ill.

Seeing that I have done both, we prefer Thanksgiving. Even though the crowds were slightly less at the end of May, it's just too darn HOT. November generally has beautiful weather. Have fun deciding!!!

We are looking at May 29-June 7th next year so its nice to hear that its doable.. I just dont want to take the kids out of school.. I though about March but I want to stay for 10 days and if we go over Spring Break Id end up having to take them out still, so it works better this way.. With 10 days we will have 2 days in each park except Animal Kingdom we will have 1 and then 1 day will be at the Water Park and then 2 days to rest, swim at the pool, enjoy Disney Quest.. etc..

I will definitely take an extra pair or shoes and a rain poncho..

It's the best time for us to go since that's when schools let out here in Texas. We went in 2004 the first week of June and it was fine, crowded yes and it did rain often, but with a good plan it's O.K. But beware that first weekend in June is very crowded. That's when Gay Days are and I'd be aware which parks/which days they are hitting to avoid that extra increase in crowd size. Also, that first friday and saturday night on PI is crazy.

Those who think Disney World is crowded in the summer should try Disneyland sometime. After growing up with Dineyland and knowing how bad summer crowds are I was expecting the worst for my 1st Disney World trip 4th of July week in 2001. Well I was pleasantly surprised that the crowds even during this peak week were no where near as bad as Disneyland. I felt it is probably because the people are so spread out with so many parks and the fast pass system and my planning schedule worked out well. So I definately wouldn't be afraid of the summer. The Pluses are longer park hours, usually no referb's going on and both water parks open.

:wave2: We were there in early June last year & the year before. In 2004, it was the first week in June & SO HOT, SO CROWDED!!! Of course we still had a blast but you really have to prepare.
This year we went June 9th-15th. It was still hot, still crowded but I don't think it was as bad as the year before b/c it rained some.
You really have to take advantage of the longer park hours (leave during the hottest part of the day) then come back at night after a rest.

All in all its probably no hotter in early June than in September. :scratchin

Either way you will have a wonderful time! :flower:
