Early June at Boardwalk

Just booked a trip for June 5 through 11th. I got a 1BR at BWV. I'm excited. We've never stayed there. Lord willing, we're taking our son and his best friend down for a "yea, school's out and it's been a great year" trip. I'm hoping that, since it's early June, it won't be quite the madhouse yet. Am I being naive??

Of course, all that was available was "preferred view". That's fine, we're used to paying those "big" points at BCV and VWL. I requested a boardwalk view. Wish me luck!

Any advice for a first timer at BWV would be appreciated.

Stay a few extra days so that we can meet.

Seriously, the only advice I have is to be prepared for a long walk to the elevator. That seems to be a common complaint about the BWV. A small price to pay for perhaps one of the best locations at WDW. Don't forget to drink plenty of water.

The crowds are managable during that time. This is our third year during that time of the year. Honestly, I was really worried our first June visit, but was pleasantly surprised...guess I expected a madhouse with the people. Take advantage of FastPass when the lines are long, bring lots to drink, and have a great time!

We will be out there May 29-June14; first week off site in a friend's other timeshare and then the second week, a grand villa at OKW! First time in a grand villa! Can't wait!

the long walks to the elevators are overstated...the walk to mgm is a nice 10 minute walk along the water...only a 5 minute walk to epcot..dont wait for the boats..also check out the live entertainment on the boardwalk every night...go carlo go carlo go carlo....those who have stayed on the boardwalk know who carlo is...jellyrolls is a great place for some cocktails and good live music with dueling pianos...i am booked for 12 nigths in a 1br in august and i cant wait for the sweltering heat..its easy to say that now since i am from nj and it is freezing right now...if you play golf i recommend osprey ridge..have fun

I second the "Long" walks are a bit overstated. Though there are short cuts you can take by exiting from the ground level exit doors. The front side exit takes you close to the bus stop and the rear side exit takes you to the pool area.

Depending on the age of your kids, The "Bike & Boat Plan" ( I think thats what it's called) is $199.00 for your stay and gives unlimited use of bikes & boats. I have only read positive reports on this plan, we are going to give it a try on our next trip.

Welcome to the BWV (a little early). It is our Home Away From Home. We will also be at BWV June 2-15 with DD 7yo, DD 13yo and DD's friend 14yo. This ought to be fun with two teenagers. This will be our 3rd trip to BWV and we love it. We have been in June before and it does not seem to be to bad. The weather is not that hot yet and the crowds and not as big as the rest of the summer. Kids always enjoy the pool and the Boardwalk has plenty of things going at night.

You didn't say how old the boys are but a little advice if they are interested in riding or driving the little boats. We recommend that you go to the Comtemporary or WL to ride these, they go much faster because they are on a larger larger lake. DH and I love these Hope you enjoy the BWV and have a great trip. We sure are looking forward to ours.

The boys are 11 yrs old. I doubt we'll do the boat thing. Too $$$. My father lives on a lake, so boating isn't something I'd be willing to pay for.

I'm looking forward to the entertainment at night.

Sounds like they wouldn't be allowed to drive them anyway. You have to be 12 AND at least five feet tall. Our nephew was just a little bit short on both counts when we were there in October, and they did check his height carefully.

We go in early June a lot, and this year will be no exception. It's a nice time of year, and the crowds are fairly manageable. At least, they have been in the past. We've never stayed at the BWV yet, but we'll be at the BCV June 8-13.

"long walk to the elevator". Give-me-a-break. You're at WDW! Walking is required regardless of where you stay. Personally, I'd prefer a walk down an air-conditioned hallway, then an air-conditioned bus or boat, or a pleasant stroll directly to Epcot. The alternative is a short walk to a car (watch out for those buses...and try not to breathe the fumes), followed by a long walk through through the parking lot, and tram (more fumes). yuk!

Now back to BWV in every June. We go to WDW every year at this time, probably for the same reason... The kids are out of school early, so let's try to beat the rush. Does it work? YES! The crowds are slightly better, although we have taken fast-pass to a scientific precision.... We weren't even bothered by last years thanksgiving crowd.
