Early July Epic tickets sold out for regular purchase but available for passholders?

We are planning a day at Epic for my daughters birthday the first week in July. July 1 and 2 are open to passholders but not regular guests. Since passholders are paying less, I was surprised. Does anyone know if Universal is holding back so many tickets for passholders and anyday sold out to regular guests would probably be a bad idea? It looks live every Sunday and Monday in June is sold out for regular tickets but Saturdays are still open so I was confused by it. My daughter and I have activated our passes and could secure our tickets but my son has not yet, so I am trying to decide if I should rush to purchase or not.

Unfortunately your guess is as good as mine. Today I see those tickets available for regular guests - no dates sold out in July.
It seems like the ticket availability is changing constantly.
I'd say buy your tickets as soon as you can. If AP tickets are available after your son activates his pass they are usually good about refunding the difference - usually like $24 - but the only rule is AP tickets have to be available at that time.
OF course with all this being new everything is subject to change

I didn't know this! That's great, I was unsure if I should buy a regular ticket now, as my AP is not activated yet, but with this possibility it makes sense to buy and not risk it.

Thank you so much! That was all super helpful information. I understand the guessing game at this stage of opening, but it doesnt make much sense to me at all :)
