Early Entry in "Off Season"

I need some help from some real Disney World die-hards...

I'm taking my family to WDW in the first week of December, as part of a 4-day land, 4-day cruise package (I added one day to the usual 3/4 deal). Thus, we really only can commit one full day to each main park (WDW, MGM, AK, Epcot). I've noted from this chat forum that "early entry" is back, now called something like "Extra Magic Hour", or whatever. My basic question is, does this early entry system work AGAINST you in the lower-volume season in which we're going? What I mean is, even though overall number of visitors is lower, is everybody going to flock to WDW on Thursday because it's an early entry day? Are we better off AVOIDING WDW on it's early entry day? It's all about strategy, baby...!

What are your thoughts/suggestions?

Welcome to the boards! I've never been during off season, but when we went it did help us. The key was to take advantage of Early Entry but when the park opened to everyone, or a few hours after that, we would use our park hoppers and go to a different park to spend the rest of the day. That way we didn't experience heavy crowds. It usually worked out pretty good. If you can't park hop, I might would stay away from EE parks but hopefully someone who's been at that time of the year can give you better advice. Have a great trip!

Welcome to the Dis EMH wouldn't work against you. It's always good to get into the parks and do what you can before official opening. It couldn't hurt

I have read from other that the early entry in the off season can indeed hurt you. I have been in the off season and thought in the MK it really didn't hurt us but in the AK it was a zoo. Just my opinion.

Wilderness I'd be interested in knowing the logic behind that. Any further info? BTW AK is Nahtazu
