I just saw on allears that they are changing the extended hour plan. I see know that they are doing both early entry and late evening. I hope they will not shorten the hours on the late days. If not on peak times when the parks close at 11pm then they will be open till 2am? Just wondering what you guys thought about this. I usually plan around the early entry days and stay out of those parks, but this will change my stategy. Looking for input from the Disney professionals on how you will now attack this. My cast of characters are DW,DD11,DS8,DD3 and myself. :grouphug:

NEW MORNING SCHEDULE

Monday -- Epcot
Tuesday -- Disney-MGM Studios
Friday -- Magic Kingdom
Saturday -- Animal Kingdom

NEW EVENING SCHEDULE

Sunday -- Disney-MGM Studios
Tuesday -- Animal Kingdom
Wednesday -- Magic Kingdom
Thursday -- EPCOT

Transportation for the park offering Morning Extra Magic Hour will begin 30 minutes earlier than the park opening time. You'll need to show your resort ID at the gate. Select attractions will be open in each park. See BELOW.

NEW DAILY SCHEDULE WILL LOOK LIKE THIS:

Sunday -- Disney-MGM Studios (evening)
Monday - Epcot (morning)
Tuesday - Disney-MGM Studios (morning); Animal Kingdom (evening)
Wednesday - Magic Kingdom (evening)
Thursday - Epcot (evening)
Friday - Magic Kingdom (morning)
Saturday - Disney's Animal Kingdom (morning)

Morning Extra Magic Hour occurs one hour prior to regularly scheduled park opening. You'll need to present a valid Key to the World Card at the park's turnstiles.

Evening Extra Magic Hours typically extend three hours beyond park's scheduled closing time. You'll need to obtain a wristband at the theme park by presenting a valid Key to the World Card at one of several designated locations no sooner than two hours prior to park close.

There are way more questions than answers right now. I am waiting(not patiently) for the first trip reports to come out regarding the cahnge in EMH. Our trip in Jan, is our test trip for our big October trip.

We were there when they tested the EMH in the evenings last May. The parks stayed open late. The MK closed at 10pm, as scheduled, and we stayed until 1am.

We will use this perk much more than the extra hour in the morning. We have yet to be able to get up and out in time to take advantage of it. The unfortunate thing is that I'm sure we aren't the only ones.....

We have detailed info on the DIS regarding the new EMH schedule: Extra Magic Hour Jan/Feb and here's a calendar: Jan/Feb Calendar

Be sure to take a close look as the evening schedule varies.

We hope that this info is helpful in planning your trip. :D

I am probably in the minority here, but I will miss E ticket nights. I think when people were charged for the privilege of staying later, many did not. Now that parks will be open just like E ticket night for all onsite guests, but for free, I wonder if the parks will be crowded.

Darn. There will not be one single EMH night for MK while I am there!

:sad2:

I am a little confused! The hours are different in these links. Particulary Wednesday Feb 2. One list EMH in the morning for MK and the other lists EMH evening for MK. Which do you think it is? Hopefully the eveining.

Changing the days the parks open early really messed all my ps i had already made for Feb trip.Oh well maybe the crowds will be low and it wont matter. :charac2:

I was also there in May when they tested these extra hours. We took advantage of a couple of them. We got to AK on the day it opened early. It seemed to make a big difference, but only for a couple of hours. We stayed late at MGM and were able to ride RNR and TOT several times and ended up leaving around midnight.

I was extremely worried about how it would work, since it was all new to everyone at the time we went. If we wanted to stay late, we had to find a CM and get a wristband. In the end, it worked out okay and we were able to do some things we might not normally have gotten to do.

As DVCreg posted, the evening hours DO VARY. In January several weeks stayed the same, while the week of Jan. 15th was completed different (AM hours remained steady). In February the evening hours changed each week. So please don't go by the set scheduled that is being announced because it is incorrect. I know first hand. I used the "set" scheduled that was posted earlier on other threads (and even on the Portal) and had to change ALL of my evening PS last week because the schedule was different than the posted set schedule. Looks like you really won't be able to make those evening PS if you want to be in the late park and eat there until you know the hours and schedule. Please check this boards' site WDWinfo.com. I checked their information against the information released to CMs and it is correct. Since I just redid my evening PS, it will be a mess for some of us planners. All I can suggest is that once you've made your evening PS, you need to check them regularly against the hours, because it will be ugly if you THINK you are eating at the late park only to find out when you leave the restraurant that the park is closed and you are not at the late one.

Oops! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It's going to be corrected on the calendar. And yes, that's definitely an evening EMH (unless the Mouse decides to make some other changes. :earboy2: )
