Early-Early Roll call.... 4-28-07 Eastern

I will be joining all of you on the 4/28 Easter with my mom and DD(6). We are on the 5th floor.

Does anyone know about the dining times. We have the late seating, but wanted the earlier seating. I was told there are no more seats available for the earlier seating. I was told when I board the cruise to ask then about changing it. Has anyone ever done this?

D

I have been reading how everyone (just like me) are trying to loose a couple extra pounds before the cruise. I have been doing weight watchers since march 4th and have dropped 10.4 I hoping for 6 more before the cruise. :cheer2:

Eph, did you use just a disposable underwater camera? Or is it a digital housed in a fancy waterproof box? Great photo of the underwater mickey. I got some snorkeling gear at the Outdoor world in Dania Beach today. I am almost ready!

coco, losing 10 lbs in a month is really good! I lost my 14 lbs, but it took me 3 months to do it.

Also, I called a few weeks ago and got our late seating changed to the 6pm seating but was told it may changed at boarding??? I didn't like the idea of eating at 8. Especially with a 5 year old.

Anyone else invested in 2 way radio walkie talkie thingies? That is something else we got at outdoor world. I hope we use it! got me a sleeping bag and a tent too but that is a different story. I am taking my girl scouts camping in key largo the next weekend back from the Magic. Hope I am not too worn out from all the food and fun.:goodvibes

It was a digital in the waterproof box. I destroyed a different digital camera just in the rain so I didn't want to chance it knowing I would be in the water and shooting at the beach.

We didn't like the idea at first with DS6, but the late seating actually worked out really well for us once we got into a schedule of getting him to take a nap around 4:30PM. He would waked up refreshed for the 6:15PM show, a 7:30PM activity, and then our 8:15PM dinner. I'm happy that we have the second dinner seating again. Plus, on disembarkation day, it's nice having the second breakfast seating! 8:00AM sure beat 6:45AM...

Anyone else invested in 2 way radio walkie talkie thingies?

We didn't have them, but I saw a bunch of families that did. One time, I was walking up the stairs with a girl and she woke up her Dad from a nap with a "Hi Dad, just testing!" message. To which he responded, "I was just testing to see if I could take a nap, but apparently not." I told her it might be a good idea in 5 minutes to re-confirm if the walkie-talkie was still working. :rotfl2: She laughed devilishly after I said that, so I apologize to the poor fellow if she actually followed up! I was just joking... sort of. :lmao:

Wow Eph94, really nice shots under water. Is it woth it to buy one of those disposable camers before we go? I dont know if we are doing anything under water but the Stingrays, but I guess it would be nice to have. Is it me or does the second photo look like ALOT of kids! I guess us first times are going to shocked at how big the 5 year old group will be on this trip!:dance3:

Ok went to Party City but did not see green leis. However my DD5 has 3 from a previous party, so Im going to try to get some spray paint and see if I can get them green. This sounds crazy but the green fabric paint works but takes way too long. :laundy: I had all of two hours to myself today. I also bought the magnetic paper and did a test run of the pic for the door but it came out small. Did I do something wrong? If leis dont work I will braid some of my green ribbon and make some sort of bracelet (circa 1984). I think most of the 7th floor is on this thread. I expect alot of Door signs! Off now to finish my daughters Easter basket at 11:30pm. Pretty sad...:coffee:

Poshspice,

I'm thinking of getting an underwater camera too. I hope our pics come out as great as everyone elses!

Eeek! They didn't have any green lei's at Party City? Crud...I'm going to have to keep looking. I guess any sort of green shirt or accessories will work by now. Only 20 more days! :woohoo:

Congrats on losing those pounds! That's amazing! I joined Curves on March 12th, and I don't think I've lost any pounds (they say you gain muscle weight and it cancels it out) but I feel better and fit into my pants better. Although in 20 days that might all go out the window...... :rotfl:

Posh,

All the kids were packed in front of the stage because they were playing a dancing game with Daisy, the one where they all have to freeze when the music stops. The picture definitely made the club look much more crowded than it really was. Right behind that group of kids was a semi-circle of parents looking on since it was the Oceaneer Club Open House.

For the picture of the underwater Mickey, I used a Canon digital camera that was housed in an underwater case. I'm not sure how the pics come out with the disposables, but I've seen other threads where folks were quite satisfied. A lot of the picture quality depended on how bright the sun was to light up under the water.

I do hope a month makes a difference in terms of water temperature because the snorkel lagoon was a bit chilly. I snorkeled out there around 3PM because it took me all day to work up to it, coupled with the pressure of the lagoon closing at 4PM. I thought to myself, "When is the next time I'm going to be here? Stop being a wimp and get out there and snorkel!" Little did I know that I would be making an encore trip just a month later. :lmao:

I don't know why, but I am much more excited this time around. Maybe it's because I already know how much fun the cruise is going to be!!

Joe

eph94, Welcome and I sure envy you getting to go back again 1 month after a cruise! Isn't life grand!

I always use the underwater disposable camera and I think they come out great. I usually use Fuji (get it at wallyworld) but the last time they did not have it so I got Kodak. As far as ease of use I recommend the Fugi. The button you push is easier to work. On the Kodak sometimes it would not push the first time and it would make the camera move because you had to push it so hard. It was actually frustrating.

I was just going to say if anyone has trouble finding green things you can always go to Home Depot and get the lime green mickey heads and pin one of them on yourselves. Or print one off of this website.

posh, I am having a problem with my signs being smaller also. I'm just going with it at this point, too late to get stressed now! At least we will have them and I know the girls will be thrilled. We just went to Hartstrings and found the cutest outfits for Olivia on sale 50% off! And Alexis has the cutest madras checked shorts. I think she will be wearing them on embarktion because they match the navy mickey head polo shirts we all have to wear.

3 weeks from now we'll be on the cruise, can you believe it is finally here?:dance3:

Life is grand! I actually have ONE MORE yet-to-be planned trip on the horizon. After two Disney cruises, it's going to be one of those manly vacations where a bunch of guys go out into the wilderness and do manly-man type things (whatever that is). Chance has it that two of my college roommates, along with me, are all jobless (fortunately, by choice) at the same time. And the third is a still-single college professor so he gets summers off anyway. This probably won't happen again in our lifetime until retirement, so we're seizing the day. Two of the three wives have signed off on the escapade (I'm not dumb; I built up A LOT of goodwill with these two cruises! :rotfl2:) The third wife is expecting their first child in late May. If she gives the OK after giving birth to their first, I am going to worship at her altar-of-unbelieveable-coolness forever.

Still, I'm MOST excited about our 4/28 Eastern trip!! Woo hoo!! I missed out on the Rainforest room last time (I only made it to the Vista Spa to work-out, bleh). I became addicted to the whirlpool at the Quiet Cove Pool and consequently got roped into the Adult Pool Games activity one afternoon (which, included a 90-second "syncronized swim routine" with 4 men wearing pink wigs and pink skirts; yeah, the organizers did everything to humiliate us, but we got a bit of revenge and threw one of them in the pool at the end!! :rotfl:) I'm SOOO happy that my DW left the pool already by the time the games commenced, or there might be some really embarassing photos floating around the web. I'm really looking forward to the aromatherapy steam and all the other amenities in the Rainforest room. Yeah, it's decidedly UN-manly, but if I'm going to have to go out into the woods and do manly things like catching squirrels and such for meals on the next trip, I better pamper myself now. :dance3:

I haven't printed any signs yet. I'll head out to Staples today and do some test runs too.

Joe

Hey guys, my mom megakat said that someone had a 13 yr old? Just stopping by to see if they wanted 2 chat before the cruise:rolleyes1

I noticed some of you are professional cruisers, can you tell me about my stateroom. I am on the 5th floor, room 5124. Is this good?

Hi All.....

Those underwater pics look awesome!! Oh.....I cannot wait to get away. It has been snowing since Friday!!! This morning as I look out of my office snow is gently falling. Yuck!!

I think that I am going to contact Shirley (Shirley's Baskets) and get a couple made for the kids. I am going to ask her to get some snacks, drinking boxes etc. along with disposable cameras. Fugi?? is that right?? that seems to be the best.

Counting the days!!
Kathy

:flower3: HI GROUP

Haven't posted because Ive been busy w/ the kids :scared1: during spring break (they go back to school 4/11) But I do read all. Welcome all new cruisers. I see everyones as excited as I am...well I'm actually reallll nervous about the cruise but i'm trying to be brave lol. My kids don't have a clue about the cruise:rotfl2: ...they'll find out and be surprised when they walk up to the ship:lmao: I don't know yet how I'll explain the plane ride, but i'm sure to come up w/ something.
I bought my pirate costume this weekend at party city, I'm telling you it's slim pickings in the stores and online. I still have to get my 2 girls and my honey.
I need to start getting organized and laying everything i can out in my spare bedromm so I dont forget anything. I heard from my travel agent this a.m. and she said she spoke to disney and my documents are already in the mail:cheer2: . OK, you talked me into the shore snorkeling. Right now we are signed up for both as we weigh the options, but you bring up sometyhing I hadnt even considered - cold water!!!! :scared: Maybe best I not be jumping off a boat into cold water....:scared:

Thanks for the pics. I have lots of Amazon dollars, maybe I'll order that camera housing now and be done with it. Then I'll spend the flight down finally reading the instruction booklet for the digital camera - after almost two years of ownership!!!!:confused3

Thanks for the tips and welcome aboard. A couple of us are on deck 2 with you folks, so if you cant change, you wont be alone. Who plans to spending time in the room anyhow???!!!:yay:

:cheer2: Hurray for you!!! :cheer2: I am a lifetime WW member. Love it. It works:wizard: ..... 25 lbs gained through an addiction to yummy, fat laden cuban food, lost it and kept it off over 3 years!!! I learned my limits!!!! Thanks weight watchers!!!:cool1: :cool1:

Linda

I am also getting really excited. I go back to school tomorrow, so I will have to control my excitment or risk getting erasers thrown at me by my students (middle schoolers, YIKES). I just finished updating my packing list (little kids do need lots of stuff). My DD and DS' passports just arrived Friday (we applied on 1/27). I was sweating it out (I know that they are not needed to cruise, but I am a worry wart about those things). The status disappeared off of the website about a week and a half before they arrived. I thought they were lost in government's red tape.

Linda - I hope your kids will be excited about the cruise. I don't know if I could keep such a secret. I have been counting down and talking about this cruise since we booked in Nov of 05. My DS is even saying "Mickey boat" when he sees pictures of the ship (he's only 2). My DD is sooooo excited about going to the club this time (she was only 2 1/2 last time). She can even go down the Mickey slide now.

Only a few more weeks to go.... until the sail away party...:cool1:

Now just the waiting game until the documents arrive......

Happy waiting.....

Not to rain on anyone's parade......it is cloudy and raining this week on St. Maarten.
Hhmmm.
We might need some sacrifices to the Sun God. Does she like rum?

I had to do the same thing!! In fact, I couldn't get the settings right for our Grand Caymen snorkel , but I thankfully got it all straighted out by Castaway Cay. (And I got my camera housing from Amazon as well.)

You're very welcome. And you're right--we were never in our room other than to change and sleep, so I won't be too disappointed if I can't switch. What I loved about Deck 6 (we were in an inside stateroom there too) is that it's with 3 floors in either direction to Deck 9 and to Deck 3. We never needed to use the elevators during the whole cruise!
