Early dinner seating - length

We just got bumped to Main seating from the wait list. When does Main dining begin, and approx. how long does a meal last?

We need to change our nursery times to accommodate our new meal time.

5:45pm. We are usually done in about 1.5 hrs.

Dinner starts at 5:45. We booked nursery time from 6:30 - 8 to give us time to eat as a family and then a bit of adult time to complete our meal.

We asked our servers to serve our salad/soup/app with the kids main meal. We ship them off to the nursery/club and then finish our entree and dessert in peace, plus have enough time (15 minutes) to look at our pictures in shutter, walk along deck 4, gift shop, etc.

Above is correct--dinner starts at 5:45 an lasts about 90 minutes. People really can't hang out after main dinner as the dining room has to be re-set for late seating.

We just got off the Magic and seemed to be done with dinner about 7 p.m.every night. We had nursery time from 7:30-9:30/10:30 almost every night. We had no problem running back to the room for her things, change her into PJ's and get to the nursery on time.

We have always had early seating and dinner takes our group right around two hours. This still gives the servers 30 minutes before the MDR opens for late seating. We have traveled with friends except for one cruise and our meal alone may have taken closer to 90 minutes. If you are on the classic ships, the pace during the AP light show is determined by the music that night.
