Hi, We are going to be at ASM December 2-8. I have read that the pee-wee football superr bowl and cheerleaders are at Wide World of Sprots that weekend/week, has anyone been there during the same time? How do they affect the Parks? Any general comments about early December crowds, weather, etc?

Thanks so much!!

I can't help on the pop warner kids all that much, but I've heard through these boards that they rarely have an impact on park attendance since they are footballing (or whatever) for most of the day.

As for the weather, it seems that December (even early) is hit or miss. Historic temps go from 40's (lows at night) to 80 (highs for the day). I've heard that you should pack for everything and dress in layers.

Sorry - I'm hoping for a definitive answer too on the weather, but no one around here seems to have a working crystal ball :confused3

yes, pack for all kinds of weather. it has been cold at night and warm during the day. as for the crowds, it used to be slim, but not any more. have fun!

We went the weekend of 12/03 last year. It was chilly at night - I had to buy my daughter a sweatshirt one night because we weren't expecting it. It was pretty crowded in 2004 compared to the previous years we've been. It was also the weekend they were filming the Christmas parade so MK was crowded! Pop Warner was arriving as we were leaving so that wasn't a factor. I think early December has gradually gotten more and more crowded over the last few years. We're going this year on 12/17 and we've never been that late in Dec. I'm sure it will be pretty crowded this time!

We've been a few times the first week of December, and the Pop Warner kids aren't an issue in the parks. MGM was closed at 6 PM on the Friday of that week for a private function for them. Otherwise, we saw only a few small stray groups of them in the parks at various times, hardly a crowd. The people who seemed to have the most issues with them were the people who stayed at the same value resorts that the kids did. They can reportedly be very loud and boisterous and cause crowding at the pools and food court. If you stay somewhere other than where they are, I doubt they'll have any impact on you. Re: the weather, as has been said, it can be all over the place. When we went last year, that particular week was in the 80's the entire time, but the weeks just before and after were quite chilly. Since no one has a crystal ball, your best bet is to check the long range forecast for the Orlando area a day or so before you leave. It will give you a good idea of the weather pattern for the next week - whether it will be generally sunny or rainy, and whether temps are predicted to be significantly above or below normal. We did that, and when we noted the exceptionally warm forecast, we were able to pack accordingly and take only minimal cool weather clothing (which as it turned out we didn't need at all). This will really help you pack appropriately, rather than trying take enough clothing of both types to get you through your stay.

This is all good to know.....we will be at the PC 12/7-12/12. I have always heard that the first 2 wks in December is the time to go. I hope its not to crowded ( nothing personal ;) ). Last year we went 11/10-11/14, and it was great, not alot of people ( although 11/11 Vet's Day slightly more people, but not a big deal) we would have gone then again, but they have changed the value times. :confused3
