Hi! We are staying at CR post cruise 12/3-12/7. I specifically chose this over a pre cruise stay, and decided to keep my son out of school longer, based on crowd calendars that I had seen.

It looks like the Contemporary is mostly sold out for this week already.. Has anyone been during this time? Are the crowds better than thanksgiving week?

If they are not, then I will rearrange my trip so he will miss less school days.

Thanks!!

We were there during that time last year and the crowds were pretty low. It was a great time to visit. The longest line we waited in was 45 minutes for Launch Bay (first week it had opened) but most waits were 10-20 minutes.

first week of December is my favorite time to go. We went this year 12/1-6 and had great, lower crowds (except on a Saturday). Went once in November and it was too crowded for me.

I'm hoping it's the same this year! I'm actually thinking of making Saturday (our arrival day) a non park day. We'll see. I was just surprised the the contemporary is almost sold out for that week already in April. Glad I made my reservations when I did...just hope that isn't a sign of high crowds.

I wouldn't worry about the Contemporary being booked. There's a reason why the resorts closest to the park are the most expensive. They're always in demand. Plus, you don't know if this surge of occupancy, might be because of room only discounts released to Canada or UK, which always gets released before the US. And it could just be squatters hoping for a discount. Things change all the time.

We were there 12/7-12/13 and it was just awesome. Saturday was quite busy, but the rest of it was very manageable. Next year we return 11/24-12/3.

The same thing with "length of stay" happened to me for May I wanted 5/26-5/31 it wasn't available but 5/26-6/1 was... I booked it and then contacted Disney by phone to have them modify it. They had to put a "request in" to GR but the next day I saw that they changed the reservation for me to 5/26-5/31. So maybe try calling them to have them modify it.

I used a TA, they told her it was imposed by the Contemporary and they couldn't change it. If I went down to 3 nights I would be required to switch to lake view.

Oh man thats a bummer. I wouldn't give up personally but that's just my nature. That gets my blood boiling though! How is it available for more nights but not less...>:( (Is there a discount that you are using?)

The first two and a half weeks of December are a perfect time to go for many reasons: low crowds, cooler weather, and holiday decorations! Go and enjoy!

When did you do that? I know my TA told me in late April that they had instituted a "no change" policy on room reservations. You can't subtract days, but have to rebook, subject to availability. I happened to need to subtract a couple days right when they started this and no way no how would they let me, no matter who we asked. What I don't know is whether they lightened up on it since then. Prior to late April when this started though, it was allowed.

I did that beginning of this month April 2nd

No problem IDK if it was also a factor that I booked that same day that I called...

Hard to say. If you just booked, you probably could have cancelled and rebooked for fewer days and been fine. My days were not available to rebook at the rate we had. We had to select a different level room to shave off 2 days because that was all that was "available". Yeah, even though our current booking would have been "available" once we let it go. We tried to catch it being added back into the system but were unsuccessful.

That's annoying. Disney does some really frustrating things. :scared:

Nope, no discount. She called several times..I called several times. I had 2 reservations booked at once between her and me and cancelled one. It was very frustrating.
There isn't any availability showing in tpv for that entire week now, so doubt we will be able to change at this point

That is pop warner week. We are going Nov 30 - Dec 4th specifically to avoid that. We are locals though, and can really go whenever we want.
