We will arrive at our resort around 11:30.We are staying at bwi can we check in early? What about upgrades do they happen at this resort or is it always sold out? Also the day of departure we won't be leaving until late afternoon can we still stay at the resort and swim?

You can check in as soon as you arrive but your room may not be ready. It depends on how busy the resort is and the type of room you reserved. If your room is not ready they will store your luggage and you can visit the parks, they will issue your room key and you can call later to find out if your room is done. You can swim at the resort on the day of checkout, they will store your luggage for you. Most resorts have showers and lockers by the pool area for your use, I think BWI does as well, but I have never stayed there so I don't know for sure. I can't answer your upgrade question - sorry!

It really depends on how busy the resort is and how early the previous guests are checking out. We have been able to get into our rooms as early as 9:30 am (late Oct.) and have had to wait until after 4 pm (late May).

It also depends on what day you check in. We arrived at the BWI on Wednesday morning, June 15 around 10:30am. We got our room immediately. The CM outside at bell services told us they were quiet that day and thought we might get a room.
Keep in mind you are considered a Disney guest until midnight of your last day. Although you will need to leave the room by 11am they will pick up and store your luggage until you need it later.
As for upgrades, you never really know. You can also ask for a later check out of noon or 1pm but that depends on whether they need your room or not. We had a standard room (4278) overlooking a quiet courtyard and were able to see the Epcot fireworks from our room. It was great!

We have a standard room reservation and are checking in on a Sunday morning.Not sure ifI should try for an upgrade or just be happy with what we get.I would like to be able to see the fireworks.Also does anyone know if they check id's at the pool.Need to know what I have to send the girls with when they going swimming.
