EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

Hi, everyone, and welcome to Jennifer and family!

I had trouble accessing the site when we returned from our Thanksgiving trip, and we just received our docs today. I was having dreams of the CM explaining to me that it was just too good to be true, and the ship was full.

I packed DD's suitcase for our Thanksgiving trip, and she had outgrown all of the dressy clothes I packed for her. Oops. Her piano recital is on Sunday, so I need to do a mad dash to the stores this week to pick something up for her (but at least she'll have something to wear on the ship, too).

Susan - :grouphug: I hope everything goes well with your oral surgery. If you're feeling at all sensitive on the cruise, you could always ask for creme brulee for breakfast - that's nice and soft!

Wow - the boards were busy.

pixiedust: to Rachel, too. Kids seem to recover remarkably quickly, and hopefully Rachel will have an easy time of it.

Susan - such cute pictures of John!

Cristi - I drove on a field trip today, and spoke to a woman I hadn't met before - turns out she was raised in Covington. I've lived in California for 16 years, and she's only the 3rd person I've met from Tennessee. It was so nice to hear that drawl again...makes me (a little) homesick!

We'll see you all at the cruise meet!

Thanks Sharon and Stacie and Kathryn (we were posting at the same time).

Yes, Stacie, they're the Disney store shoes. We stopped and got them on the way to the photo session. It's the first time he's ever worn shoes!! They're size 12-18 months. A little big, but he's growing so fast.

Kathryn, creme brulee for breakfast sounds good.

It snowed last night. I was surprised when I woke up this morning. It was 65 yesterday.

Wow these boards are busy...

Thank you for a the kind welcomes. I just recieved news that my Doc are at my Travel agents so I will be picking them up tomorrow...Yeah!!!

I have my Princess and Peter pan costumes, Pirate costumes, nice dresses and a suit for my DS... Is that all I need for the kids??? Has anything changed in the last 3 years?

Where is everyone from? I live in cold Waterloo Ontario, Canada. About an hour away from Toronto, and there is quite a bit of snow on the ground here. I am getting excited about not having to dress the kids to go out side.

Jen

Your evening wear sounds fine. Don't forget the shorts, swimsuits and sunscreen. I had a dream a few weeks ago that I forgot the sunscreen and I couldn't buy any.

Hi everyone. I guess I survived the surgery. I was so very nervous. It only felt like 10 minutes though. The pain is pretty bad at times and I haven't filled the strong pain RX because of nursing. I'm still trying to get the bleeding to stop on one side. I've eaten yogurt, mashed potatoes, and ice cream. David is a great care-taker.

Cristi, thanks for the sunscreen reminder. Definitely don't want to have to buy that on the ship.

Jen, we live in the eastern part of the US. It's not too very cold where we are. I think the high is in the 60's today. Some winters we get a light snow. It's pretty rare in these parts though. I'm looking forward to the snow at Castaway Cay.

Glad you came through the surgery ok. That is great.

I also live in the eastern coast of the US.

It feels like snow here today. If it does it will turn to rain.

catch you all later

Glad to hear the wisdom teeth came out ok! Do you have any gauze to put in your mouth on the side it is bleeding?

Its suppose to snow here on Sunday/Monday. Definately not looking forward to that but oh well.

Welcome Jen! We're from the south-central area of Texas, right outside of San Antonio.

Glad to hear that the surgery went okay.

Weather here has turned warm again. :guilty: It supposed to be in the high 70's sometime next week. So much for winter...we're headed right back for spring! If any of y'all have some unwanted snow, please send it down south!!!

We talked to our TA about my parents' travel docs. Turned out they were sent to our old house (that we moved out of LAST August, even before we booked the cruise). We're not sure how that happened. We've contacted all of our old neighbors to see if they could go over to the house to see if the new residents have our docs. If not, we're going to see if we can get new docs sent for them.

Susan glad to hear the oral surgery went fine. Is Disney's High School on Ice touring in your area? It's in town this weekend and DD and I are going with a group of friends. She's soooo into High School Musical and is excited about going. My SIL and niece went just before Thanksgiving and had a great time.

Good tip about the sunscreen, probably would have forgotten about it. The sun and I don't get along, I tan easily but tend to break out from the sun and am supposed to where sunscreen with max protection.

Jen we live on the SW side of the Kansas City metro area in Kansas, yes Toto land. A college boyfriend (from Chicago) introduced me to his friends as his girlfriend Dorthy from Kansas. There is a reason he is an ex.

The weather here has been chilly but not too cold. We have had a couple of dusting of snow but nothing to speak of. On Sat. there is a chance of sleet and freezing rain, I'd much rather have the snow. The snow usually comes after the freezing rain making for wonderful driving conditions.

DD and I picked up our cruise docs from our TA yesterday. She is such a sweetheart. She has spoiled Laura with gifts, early on when we booked and again yesterday. Yesterday she gave Laura a cute Ariel tea set and princess postcards. She had an adorable Mickey tote bag for me that I'll be showing off on the ship.

Hope everyone is well. I've been threatning my sick coworkers with their life if they get me sick. Trying to keep everyone here healthy.

Patty

Hey all!

Susan--Glad to hear you're getting along OK.

Talked to my TA today, she sent my docs today, should get them tomorrow. She was supposed to have sent them Monday, I called yesterday and she had gone home sick Monday and hadn't done it. :scared1:

My bathroom counter now has a cruise pile as well as my closet, and the kids' closets. I printed all my stuff today, airline confirmation, hotel resservations, excursion stuff. I had to take pages out of my passporter because my pockets are full.

DD has her first basketball game tonight. It is out of town. We aren't going to this one. I took Andy back to the Dr. today because he just hasn't gotten over his cold that started last week. She put him on antibiotics for sinus infection. Hopefully he'll bounce back soon. He doesn't really act sick, just more clingy and more easily upset. He has taken a super nap this afternoon and I've gotten a lot done.

Have a good evening!!

You guys were pretty talkative today.
Susan I am glad the surgery went well.
Jen, I forgot to mention, we are from Littleton, Colorado which is a suburb of Denver. We had a little snow yesterday, but it is mostly gone today.

Jacob fell an hit his head on a concrete wall yesterday at daycare. He has a pretty big knot on the back of his head. I called the after care nurse last night about it. We didn't take him in, but she told us everything to watch for (which I knew anyway, I just felt better about calling). I did have to wake him up once in the middle of the night last night and I am supposed to wake him up again tonight. He said it only hurts now when you touch it.

Stacie, I hope Andy starts feeling better. Nobody can get sick. We have started taking daily vit. C around here.

Has anyone used Shirley to make baskets for the cruise? If so, what kinds of things did you put in them? I am debating. I can't really think of much to go in them except for maybe a 6pack of beer for Brad.

Has anyone filled out all the information on line? If it is filled out on line and I printed off the all the forms that are needed to be signed...do I still fill out all the information on the tickets as well? :confused3

What time is everyone getting to the termimal? The Passporter says you should be there the latest by 1 but the Disney info sheet says to get there at 1. I can't remember all this stuff I did last time. We are staying at the Radisson and being shuttled to the Port. You would think after already being on the boat once I would be less confused this time :sad2:

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make an autograph book for the kids that is special and that they don't lose?

Sorry for all the questions, I kinda put the cruise in the back of my mind until this week, when I realize that it was 3 weeks way.... opps.

We filled out our documents online. From what I understand (they didn't have online check-in when I went in '05), you fill out everything online, print out the cruise contract, and then turn that it. The way I read it, everything else is automatically entered into the system. But we'll probably print everything out just in case we need it.

Also, I'm pretty sure that you should be at the port by 2. I think the PassPorter says to be there by 1 so that you have enough time to explore the ship, eat lunch, and make reservations for Palo and the spa onboard. I'm landing at the airport at about 11:30, so I won't be at the port until 1 at the earliest. Probably more around 2 I would think.

I was also wondering about Shirley. Since we're cruising over my mom's birthday, I wanted to do something special for her. Plus, it'll be my parents' first cruise, so I wanted to do something for that as well. I'm going to probably give her a call within the week to figure out what we could do and how much it would cost. Only problem is I have no idea what we would put in there!!!

I think they start boarding at 12:00, but the staterooms aren't ready until like 1 or 1:30. A lot of people like to get there early to get a low boarding card number, then once on board the kids can swim in a realitively quiet pool (have the kids wear their swim stuff under their clothes if they want to do this, easier than changing anxious hyper kids). We usually don't get there until 1:30 or 2 because our kids are older and they usually want to get a few hours in at the parks or DTD before going.

If you have everything filled out online you just have to print the cruise contract for each person. They have extra forms at the port just in case or you can fill out the ones in your book like William did.

There is a whole thread about autograph books on the Creative DIS board, but I will warn you, that board overwhelming. I'm a person who would love to be crafty but things never turn out as good as the pictures or what I want them to be. I enjoyed looking at everything but it reaffirmed to me that I'm not Martha Stewart.

I haven't decided about Shirley yet either. The older two would like candy, and stuff but the other times we've brought snacks and left them all on board for the crew when we left because noone ate them. I'd like to get Andy something too but he's too little to know the difference.

Cristi--Glad Jacob is ok. I keep telling my family no getting sick or hurt before the cruise. I picked DD up from choir yesterday and she was sitting outside with no coat on. :scared1:

Jen--I got you guys added to the website. You have a beautiful family.

We're supposed to get hit with freezing rain, ice, and snow tomorrow. I think it will be a good day to get serious about some pirate wear and packing!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Luckily since my friend is picking us up we can make our stops on the way to the hotel - Packie for Wine/JD/Rum, Grocery Store for Snacks (and publix chicken wings & sweet tea for dinner on Friday), and Walmart/Target in case we completely forgot something. We figure it would be cheaper to do that than most alcoholic drinks on the ship/snack cost from gift shops. If I remember right, you can bring in your own glass of wine to the dining room and not be charged?

We will prolly get to the port early. We'll be the three 21/22 year old girls laughing.

As it looks like unfortunately, I may be working on my senior project while on board as it isn't near finishing - but we have until the 2nd day of January to get the final copy turned it. So I guess I'm bringing the laptop.

Stacie... The website is awesome. Thank you for adding us :goodvibes You did a wonderful job with it.

Thank you to all ... for all the information. I called and book the shuttle service from the Radisson to the Port and I think we are all set. Last time we didn't have to wait to long at the terminal because we are Canadian and had a smaller line in the check in counter for non-US citizens. So I don't think I have to worry all that much.

I am getting too excited for this now :cool1: 2 Weeks.... I still haven't started my packing :scared:

Susan and Patti are Laura and Rachel e-mailing each other? I know Jessica would love to send them a message later introducing herself and to say Hi, if that is OK?

Morning everyone

The new DSL is working great, have had some problems getting the new email accounts set up and figured out. Also have the lovely task of changing are email address on all are accounts.

Now that we have High speed internet Laura can finally play with her webkinz on line. Before we either had to go to the library or play when we were at Grandma's house.

Jen - Yes Rachel and Laura have been emailing each other. Haven't done much lately though. If you want you can have Jessica email Laura at my email address and I'll have Laura answer it. I will send you a private message with our email address.

Two weeks, 6 1/2 hours to our flight out-of-town.

Patty
