I have decided that on this trip I would like to do a character breakfast (never done one before at WDW or DLP!). We would like to eat the breakfast as early as possible so we can get on with the rides. If we booked at 8am breakfast on a day the park opened at 8am (with no EE) would we be able to get straight into the park to make our PS time. I guess what I mean is, is there a seperate enterence or would we be allowed to the front of the line? We will be at the GCH so would it be quicker to walk to DTD and take the monorail in?
Thanks again in advance.

Do you have your heart set on the Plaza Inn breakfast? The reason I ask is because I love the Critter Breakfast at the Grand and we have always had FABULOUS character interaction when we book the 7:20 PS there. Then you would have a wonderful meal, great food, and not waste the early park time eating!! When we go that early, we have always been 1 of 3-4 tables eating (August may be different) and had atleast 1-2 characters at our table throughout the entire meal!!!

If that's not what you want to do, then ignore the above. There is no other entry to get in early like in WDW. You would have to get in at 8 and walk straight to the end of Main Street so you'd need to be at the gates by I figure 7:30 at the absolute latest!!

yes ignore the above:rotfl:jk but honestly, Plaza Inn character breakfast imo is better especially for someone as yourself who has never done one before...the characters are Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, chip and dale, fairy godmother, winnie the pooh, eeyore, tigger...whereas the Storytellers has chip and dale, baloo, and someone from brother bear...dont remember the name...the food is delish at the PI and its all you can eat...you dont get put in the front of the line but whenever I book it for park opening they dont give me a ps for 8am...its always 8:10 and they are well aware that you have to get in to the park before you can get to the restaurant...they arent gonna turn you away...my trip in Dec., I did this and I didnt get over there till almost 8:45am with an 8:10 ps and I was seated straight away...no issues at all...so relax and dont stress :goodvibes

Have to disagree somewhat as I absolutely love the food and atmosphere at Storytellers!!! Plus it's where she's staying so it would be absolutely convenient for them to go downstairs and get breakfast done early!!

But I digress, one day I will probably try Plaza Inn, just not today! Lynn obvioulsy has something against forest creatures! But I agree that you will be fine with the first PS time they allow you to make!!

just trying to keep the forests safe maam!

you too can prevent forest fires!!!!

The Plaza Inn was our least favorite of all the character meals. Yes there was a large variety of characters in the restaurant, but only 2 visited our section in the hour we were there. However we had a late seating (10:30, with 9am park opening, 8am EE) and the place was completely packed. We will not be doing this one again. Lilo and Stitch at the Paradise Pier was our favorite, Daisy, Minnie and Pluto joined Lilo and Stitch. We didn't do Goofy's or Storyteller's this trip, but enjoyed both in the past. The princesses at Ariel's Grotto are lots of fun, but our service has been lacking the past two visits.

it very well may have been the time you went samkj because we always go close to park opening and have always experienced alot of interaction...Ive never had what you've experienced be the case with my party...its too bad it happened to you because this is a great breakfast

Lynn, I agree the time I went was most likely the cause for the lack of interaction. There were just too many people for the characters to get to everyone. I don't like spending the early morning park time at breakfast, so for us, the Plaza Inn just won't work. We liked our time (10:30, after having over 2 hours of park time) but since the kids had to chase down characters it just wasn't worth it. The people at neighboring tables were disappointed too, but there really wasn't much we could do about it. We did L&S at 7:45 with a 9am (no EE) park opening and it worked great.

Thanks for the info guys,
I was planning on doing the Plaza Inn breakfast as I prefer the characters there (I'm a Tigger, Minnie and Eeyore fan!) It's good to know that they will seat you if you do not get there on time. We are planning on doing the Disneyland Park the day before the breakfast and doing DCA the day we have the breakfast. That way we can have the character breakfast then head over to DCA for opening.

So my next question, would it be quicker to get in via the main gate or the monorail? I have heard the monorail is quicker as only hotel guests can use this first thing.

Hey!

I dont know how early the monorail will drop you off so I can only comment on going through the front gates. When the gates open a half hour before the official park opening you can go through the Main Stree Photo Supply shop and exit through the door to your right to go to the Plaza Inn Character breakfast. You do not have to wait til rope drop. There is usually a CM standing there letting PS guests through. This is the way we have done it in the past so I hope it still is like this or else I have led you seriously astray!

OK I just looked at the details of your trip and I didnt see the 8am park opening and no EE. None of this will apply since I dont think they open the gates on those mornings til 8 anyway! :rotfl: Maybe disregard my whole post! In this scenario the monorail might be your quickest bet unless you line up at the gates early and be one of the first in.

I'm going to leave it just in case I'm wrong and they do open the gates early! sorry for the confusion I may have caused this morning! :)

truthfully, its about the same distance...going via monorail, you have to go from the end of tomorrowland all the way around and from the entrance you have to go down to the end of main st...so yeah its about the same

Thanks for the advice. However I meant is the que (sorry, I'm English, I mean line!) shorter for the monorail than the main gate? I guess the reason I am actually asking is that the day before that we would take advantage of EE which would be at 7am, but we are staying concierge so would want to go to the lounge for breakfast which opens at 6:30am so would it be better for us then to go to the main gate or the monorail? I know it is early but that is not a problem as it is the 1st day of our trip and we will still be on UK time which is 9 hours ahead so my body will be saying 4pm when the gate opens!!

well the waiting area for the front gate actually goes faster because on non ee days there is no back up waiting for a rope drop so once you get through the turnstyle (which goes quick once they let people in) but going via monorail you might have to wait a bit because they can only fit so many people in the shuttle
