Early booking discount versus rebooking discount?

I agree. This eliminates the downside of both options.

It all makes sense but somehow I worry Disney might know about the other reservation and tell you the promo is on new booking only? Well, guess it is a new booking. I guess if its that easy to get your money back from canceling. If a FL resident rate comes out a few months before the sailing and I decide to book under that, I would assume the 10% benefit is lost b/c I can't have 10% off of that price. Would I still keep the $200 credit?

They don't. Even if you tell them, they are happy to rebook you at a lower price. After all, the last thing they want is for you not to want to cruise again.

And, as I understand it, you can't stack discounts from DCL. If you take the on board booking, you can't also take FL resident or the Disney Visa offer. You can add any discounts your agent may offer.

We were very upfront about our existing ressie. We did get the discount and stateroom credit for our suite booking. We were also able to keep the same room (midship cat 3). The first ressie cancellation and the new ressie were done simultaneously and the deposit was simply moved over.

This is good to know!

When we were on our last cruise I went to the resie desk and told the girl that I had booked a month prior because a SPH room was available & was wondering if it was possible to get the rebooking benefits. She looked into it & the cost had gone up enough that it wouldn't make a difference if we cancelled the existing resie & rebooked. We would also lose our early seating since that had also closed since I booked. She offered to manually post the stateroom credit to our account, which surprised me and I was very greatful. :)
