I am ready to cancel our November trip and would like to bank the points into 2021, especially with some talking about the possibility that banking 2020 points might not be allowed in order to solve the problem of an overflow of points in 2021. I have a June UY. Do I have to wait until June 1 to bank?

One thing is certain: you cannot bank June 2020 points into the June 2021 use year online until June 1, 2020, because the online system provides a way to bank points from only your current use year. Since doing banking before a use year starts is not something usually tried or asked for by anyone, you might try calling MS to see if you can do it, although I would doubt you can -- their system likely does not permit it either.

Thank you. It might be worth a try. I know for a fact that we will not be going to WDW until November 2021 at the earliest, so we will not be using any of our AKV points until then. I still have my HHI points (several banked 2019 points) that I need to use up this year.

There has been a report here that the CM did bank their June 2020 points into 2021.

It is not supposed to happen but worth a call to see if you get the same pixiedust.

Thank you both for the suggestion to call. I called, got right through to someone, cancelled our November trip, and banked 70 points into my June 2021 UY.

If I read the original post correctly, there is talk of 2020 points not being allowed to be banked? I have a March UY. So I can bank my 2020 points now as I have no plans to use them until June 2021. Then if I decide to go couldnt I just borrow 2021 points. TIA

I have read it here that some people think it's a possibility. Yes, you can bank them now. If you decide to go before March 1, 2021, you could borrow 2021 points, but you would have to leave the banked points in 2021.

So I have this nagging feeling that I should do the same with my HHI points. I have a reservation in October with 45 2019 banked points and 25 2020 points. We are really starting to think we should move the trip back to March 2021. A spring trip would be less points (only 54 instead of 70), and 45 of those points would have to be used by May 31, 2021 anyway, so essentially, we would be risking only 9 points. This would allow us to bank 91 (of our 100) 2020 points. We are planning a family trip there next June, so it would be nice knowing we have 191 total to spend in case they stop the borrowing too next year. I had previously thought about just making a back-up reservation for next March, but then we wouldn't be able to go ahead and bank any points. I know there are others in harder positions than this, and I feel for you! It's so hard to make decisions not knowing what lies ahead.
