I've read conflicting reports-when does the port open for check in? when do they let you board the ship? When is the lastest possible time you can arrive at the terminal for check in? thank you!

10AM Earliest. I think its usually 3pm maybe 4pm, for the latest but it will say it in your documents. Can depend on the cruise.

The port opens at 10:00 and check in usually starts a few minutes later. Boarding usually starts a little before noon (give or take a few minutes) for Concierge guests and Platinum Castaway Club members, then the numbered groups are called to board. Boarding time is entirely dependent on when the ship was cleared for debarkation that morning and whether or not they are ready for new guests. I think the DCL web site says boarding starts at 1:00, but in 7 cruises I have never seen it start that late. I'm pretty sure you must be on board by 4:00, for immigration reasons.

The earliest you are allowed to arrive at the port area is supposed to be 10, although sometimes they allow traffic in a few minutes earlier. The security and check in is supposed to open at 10:30; again, it is typically more like 10:15. Boarding usually begins at 11:45. The latest you are allowed to check in per the written documents is 4 pm, although this is the same time as the mandatory safety drill.

Reality--if you are in line before the last guest who purchased DCL air and insurance, they will let you check in and board. We have seen the ship held for a few minutes while someone is rushed to the terminal on a DCL bus; undoubtedly a late arrival at MCO. IF you have booked a seamless package with DCL (air, transfers, sailing), they will take minimal steps to be sure you get there. They won't hold the ship for hours for a delayed flight, but they will hold it for minutes. If you did not book the seamless package but are there before they close the big doors, they'll let you board! I don't recommend cutting it that close!
