Earl of Sandwich: can you customise the sandwiches?

Hi,

Haven't ever tried EOS but have heard such good reviews, we thought we'd like to try it this trip. I'm an incredibly picky eater, and don't speak much (ok, any :rotfl2:) french (although we are listening to a CD and reading the book every day in preparation).

I've looked at the menu: http://www.dlrpmagic.com/planning/dining/restaurant-menus/earl-of-sandwich/ but I wouldn't eat any of those sandwiches as they are  (what a whingebag I am, I know, lol). I like several of the ingredients but there is always something in there that ruins it completely. And its not just that I 'don't care for it' I actually really hate it and can't eat it.

So for example, I like the sound of the All American but would need to remove the buttermilk ranch and the cheddar cheese. Do you know if I can do that or if their sandwiches are pre-made?

I also like the Hawaiian BBQ, but without the Hawaiian BBQ sauce (yuk!)

And the Tuna Melt, but without the cheese.

And the 'Le Frenchy' but without the vile mustard sauce.

DH hates dining with me, I think he is embarrassed and also hates how much longer we have to wait for our order thanks to my 'unreasonable demands' :lmao:

Also, assuming they can customise the sandwiches, does anyone know how to ask for any of the above in French at all?

Also, what is "are there nuts in the brownies?" in French? I'm not allergic, so it can contain traces of nut oil or whatever, thats fine, I just hate the taste of lumpy nuts in an other wise chewy and delicious chocolate sponge brownie!

There's not much more I can say than 'sorry' - I know I'm a pain - but surely better to deal with it now rather than stood in the queue at EOS with a stroppy DH and a screaming DS in tow :rolleyes1

Thanks in advance!

Rachel x

Yes you can remove what you don't want from the sandwiches as they are custom made

You don't need to speak French as from my many visits I notice more and more of them aren't French speaking.

The manager, a great bloke, is English if you really got stuck.

No nuts in the brownie , it's a very chocolaty thing that my OH loves, I prefer the bread pudding

I went to EOS for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ without the Pineapple no problem. Actually my bf ordered it as I went to do something elsewhere and we were getting a takeaway. He doesn't speak french and had no problem ordering!

Although another day I ordered a Chicken and bacon wrap for somebody and specifically said just chicken and bacon but it came with mayo on it.

I really liked EOS though. It is great value and the food is lovely! :thumbsup2

Glad you are going to try here it's so good and yes like others said you can ask to remove an ingredient x

If you'd asked without mayo and got it anyway they would do it again for you no bother.

I've always found them really customer orientated as my reviews on the restaurant review sticky show :goodvibes

Thanks for all your replies, I am very heartened and looking forward to the EoS!

I should have asked for another one but it was half eaten by the time I found out the person didn't like mayo!

Thanks for the advice though. It is one my new favourite places to eat in DLP!

Great thread :thumbsup2
I was wondering this too, I have a DS who is a "no sauce, cheese, tomatoes" guy. I'm desperate to visit and think the menu looks fab, but just know what DS is going to say.

my dad's allergic to cheese and my DD doesn't like BBQ sauce we got the sandwiches exactly as we wanted them and they really are lovely can't wait for another one in 3 weeks 5 days :rotfl:

There are more fussy eaters out there than I thought! :thumbsup2 to your DS from me, lol!

Woo hoooo!! This sounds very promising. Can you get them to take-out? I can see us being in the park, and me sending DH out to EoS to get me a sandwich as I hate everything on offer around the parks hee hee....

Hi Rachel,

I too am an extremely fussy eater.

We did enjoy the EOS last August, very friendly service and nice sandwiches too.

Only thing I found is if you don't ask for some parts of a sandwich you don't necessarily get more of what is left.
I had a lovely hot ham and pineapple one, but after ditching the sauce and any other bits I didn't want, they don't put extra pineapple in, as a result it was a bit dry to say the least. Nice though. :)

Oh, that's interesting and good to know in advance. Manage expectations DH always says :lmao:

Good to know, I was eyeing these menus up too so I know I could take him here now!
