I am going to try to convince DH to get our DD's ears pierced while we are in WDW. Are there any places that will do this? Maybe DTD?

How old is she? I'm just wondering if you might want to do it before or after because newly pierced ears take a lot care. Also, not very common, but some people do have a reaction to it and I would hate for something like that ruin your trip.

She will be 4 in Feb. That is something to think about. I am not sure if we would actually do it, but I was thinking that I might actually get my second holes re-pierced, so it would be fun to do it in WDW. Maybe then I could convince my DH to buy me diamond studs in the shape of Mickey! :)

I would do it about 6 weeks before so they ae healed to buy some nice Disney ear wear ready to put in. My daughter had hers done 5 weeks ago and the earings they used were fine. The right ear was not as welled healed as the left and when she wanted to wear a pair of dophin studs it was a little sore. As the above poster said, they do take a lot of care the first weeks.

We went to the piercing pagoda in the mall. With the piercing she got a coupon for I think it was $25 off. We bought her some great diamond like mickey ears. With the next coupon, she got Ariel and I got Tinker.

DD is 12 1/2 and able to take care and chang her own earing though. Away last week one feel out, a hook through type with no plastic piece to keep on the back. i would buy those little backings, and one pair to hang like that for after they heal in 14 K gold, Just a thing I noticed keeps air on the ear, and I dip in into neosporin if I see any day she wears something making it red at all.

Ooh! I like that idea! :thumbsup2 I almost bought some like that at DLR this past trip, but not real diamonds. :rotfl:

As to the original question, I wish I could help but I've never been to WDW. :confused3 Right now it is just a far off dream...:lovestruc

There are no places that you can get ears pierced on Disney property. If you went out to a mall outside of WDW, you could probably find someplace.

If she gets pierced there, she won't be able to swim (at least from the information I've always had with ear piercings). Even if they say you can, new piercings still need to be cleaned and tunred regularly. Remembering to do that consistently while at WDW might be hard.
So, IMHO, it would be better to either get her ears pierced at least 6 weeks before or to choose some earrings at WDW that she can wear after she gets her ears pierced after your trip.

We have a little tradition in our family. Our girls are given the chance to get their ears pierced when they turn 5 and Grandma takes them. Actually, Mum has to go too to sign the forms.
My dd just did this in June. We explained to her that this would hurt but that the hurt would go away and it was up to her to decide. She did decide to do it. I would advise making sure there are two people doing the piercing at the same time. That way, you get both ears done. If they have just the first side done, often the child won't permit the second one. Dd screamed blue murder!! But, she told me a little while later that the pain did go away. "You were right Mummy!" My friend used to do piercing at her salon and starting only doing children five and older and only if she had two techs on duty at the time. She had seen too many children leave with only one earring!
Good luck! Hope that helps!

Our DD was given the choice to do it when she wanted. She had decided not to and is still holding at 14. I guess it is a kind of cultural thing where you feel pressure to comply but I'd rather leave it up to the person.

As a nurse...I would agree with the previous posters. Get it done before you leave...there are too many opportunities for her little fingers to be dragging along the handrails as she waits in line, and then absent mindedly touch her new earrings...yikes..makes me shiver...LOL. I would get them done so they have healed up for her trip. You'd also hate for her to be in pain and have trouble sleeping with her new piercings..

My dd is still holding out at 12 1/2 :) She mentions it every once in a while but doesn't want it done. My 5 year old is more likely to get it done....but again, hasn't 'wanted' it done so we're not mentioning it as it's a lot of work to keep them clean and changed....etc.

I would wait until you get back but buy a cute pair of earrings for her there.

Sometimes the piercing takes longer to heal than expected.

DD8 had hers done when I got my second piercing last year and it took almost 8 weeks to heal properly.

My dd who is turning 4 Wednesday, begged and begged to have them done last year. One of her friends, who was already 4 last summer had hers done, and my dd wanted hers done to match her friends.

So after putting it off for a couple of months, and begging every single time we went into walmart, finally one night I gave in. I told her it would hurt some and feel like a small pinch, then be over. They did both ears at the same time. All she said was ouch, and then had a huge grin on her face. So it's done and overwith and my dd still loves her earrings.

I agree though, I would get it done before you go. You never know if an infection could pop up.

My DD and DW both got thier ears pierced while we were at Disney, at the Wall Mart nearby. Actually, my DW decided on impulse to do it, and my DD, 13 at the time, of course reminded me that I had told her she could when her mom did (so much for that cop-out! ), so they both got it done. They got the gun thing stuck in my DD's ear! It took a while, but they got it sorted out, and no further problems, then they both had to shop for earrings while at Disney of course... It was a fun special thing from that trip.
