i know that DC and some other memberships offer free enrollment in EA...
so, once the $50 fee is waived, and you join...
is this a $50 lifetime membership fee?
or do you have to pay another $50 to stay an EA member next year?

just wondering...

I can answer this one as I asked a National CSR the same question....

It is a one time only fee (but of course all things are subject to possible change in the future!)

So if you can join with a fee waived enrollment you will be all set...free & clear!

It was free till June 15 and is no longer free that I know of...

I just looked and didn't see that it was free anywhere.

It is free, though if you go to the Capital One website. Someone posted that you don't even need to have a Capital One credit card....don't know about that.

Has anyone tried National's site today? I get an error message when I click on Emerald Club members. Also, how do you sign up free right now? I would like to sign my DH up.

You cannot sign up for free on National's site, also, you cannot sign up at all, it is down and has been for a couple of weeks.
The free sign up ended in June (15th, I think).
The free sign up via biz travel.com has ended.
The DC fee waived sign up is still valid.
Had no problems accessing the site for ressies via the EC.

Go to Capital One Website

A few people have said they didn't even need to have a Capital One card to get the free membership.

I just looked it over and this appears to be true.

It's certainly worth a try!

Good luck!;)
