The Electronic Entertainment Expo. Music to my ears!

The PS3 is going to be $499 for 20 gigs and $599 for 60. Way too much money for me. I'm tempted to buy one to sell the parts considering the system is actually worth something like $1100. That's crazy.

I'm a Nintendo girl anyway. And that what I'll buy, even if I think the Wii is kinda a lame name.

So what are you excited about?

way too much money for me too.

The current generations of gaming equipment have pretty much priced us out of the market. I'm just not going to spend $700 for something that I'll continuely be grounding the kids from anyway.

It'll be a long time before we get a PS3 at those prices. I hope that they come back down to earth when the excitement dies down because $600 is crazy. I can buy a smaller computer for that!

lol The Wii's only going to be around $200, and it's super kid friendly. The new controller might actually get them to exercise a little too. I think it's sad how Sony and Microsoft are forgetting about families, though as a 26 year old I see the appeal of their systems for a lot of the guys my age--guys who grew up gaming and always want the newest, most expensive technology.

It's just not about the games for them anymore--it's about getting blueray and HD into people's homes, that's how they can afford to lose so much on each system.

I can't wait to see how much an HD video game costs when HD movies are like $50.

That's exactly what it is! A big powerful computer that just plays games.

It's what they all are, but I can spend $200 on the Wii, so I can use my controller like a bow and arrow! :)

Well we may be in the minority here, but as soon as Best Buy starts taking pre-orders, we'll be placing our order!! We've held off on getting an XBox 360 because we wanted to see what PS3 had to offer. And from the looks of it, it is going to be awesome. :woohoo:

You may be a minority on the DIS, but you've got plently of company. Most of the guys I know will get it. I'd love to have one, but it's just too much for me.

Twilight Princes is coming!!! I want it too!

DH gets lots of free games for all the systems, so we have to buy them all. Too bad he doesn't get the systems free!!

I actually play the old x-box more than the 360. None of the new games have 'grabbed' me yet. They are visually gorgeous, but lack the fun factor.

Monkeyball will be funny with the new wii controller though!

We aren't sure if we are going to get the PS3 or not at that price, even if the games are free. DH and some co-workers are talking about going in on one together.

My boyfriend bought the 360 and he'll probably get the PS3 too. Not much in variety for games yet, but I have been playing Tomb Raider: Legend. It's actually a lot of fun.

BF is a game addict, so I wonder if he'll get the wii too.

:P You guys are so lucky! :)

I can't wait to play monkeyball too!! I really want to fish in Zelda too.

I'm posting way too much in this thread! :)
I am Sarah The Gamer Dork! :woohoo:

ETA: I just realised that the PS3 is only $100 more than the Xbox 360, so that's good. Especially since they're competing for the same gamers. Nintendo's for a completely different audience. So it's not sooo bad.

You miss out on a lot stuff with the lower priced PS3

"During their conference this evening, Sony mentioned they would be releasing two PlayStation 3 hardware packages this November. They emphasized the logical differences between the hard drives, but failed to mention the other features that drop if consumers pick up the $499 model over the more expensive $599 machine.

As it turns out, a little examining of Sony's announcement press release reveals the $499 model will lack support for Memory Sticks, SD and Compact Flash cards, no built-in Wi-Fi and will surprisingly have the HDMI output removed (necessary for achieving the much bragged about 1080p screen resolution).

Though overlooked at the conference, expect to hear 1UP digging up more about Sony's decision behind the feature cuts in the coming days. Stay tuned."

Wii...definatly will buy it. Waiting for Pre-Order and Twilight Princess

PS3 - Umm...not for that price

XBox360 - Maybe if the price lowers, and I can actually find it somewhere

I won't be buying that one for a long time. Although I say that now wait until the games I like are only available on ps3 then I will have to snatch it up! Yikes hopefully the price goes down by then.

Nintendo's press conference was awesome, but they didn't have a price or a release date that's so annoying! They did say it would release the 4th quarter of 2006. i bet they want to see what PS3's actual date is going to be.

And Twilight princess isn't coming out until the Wii releases.

I can't wait to play the sports games. It looks so awesome!!

Microsoft said "no comment" when asked if they would lower the Xbox's price. I sort of doubt it, especially since it's still hard to get your hands on. I might actually get one if it gets low enough.

Just wait an extra year and the price will drop a couple hundred dollars and the lines won't be as long to buy it either.

Also, any "bugs" or "quirks" that they find in the new system will get worked out by then.

Ditto that: As soon as I can preorder it from amazon-germany I'll do so. I used to be a Nintendo-guy too, but the PSP made me switch to Sony. And I guess I'll have to get a 42'' to 50'' LCD as well to really enjoy the games :teeth: Will make an easy shopping list for my DW for my birthday in October or for xmas

Ooh, what's 8 more inches! Go with the 50"!!! BTW, we have a 50" LCD Sony Grand Wega. And LOVE it! I can't wait to play Heaven's Sword or even Grand Turismo on my new PS3 with my tv!

Funny thing is DS just started a "savings plan" for a merit badge for scouts last week. The thing last week he did his plan for is a PS3 (never mind that we don't allow televisions in bedrooms in our house). So he built an entire plan on his idea that these would probably cost about $300.

His jaw dropped this morning when he heard on the news that it was $600...now he has NO idea how to build a savings plan for that amount. :badpc:

Not me....

I just finally bought the PSP this week, for DS10 (for several good happenings this year and moving on to next grade). I didn't want to pay what they were asking.

The last system I bought was GameCube a few years ago (well Santa did bring a DS when they first came out-with the partial funding from a "helper").

I don't play like I did when I was a younger adult. I like my few simple PC games.

I really make the kids "sell" me on new systems for me to even THINK about buying one. It took youngest since it's release to "sell" me on the PSP.
