I'm confused about the status of e-tickets. How does one go about converting an e-ticket into a paper ticket? Can I email the airline (I purchached through Orbitz) and request they send a paper ticket? Will there be a $ charge for converting e- to paper? Is it even necessary to convert the e-ticket since everyone is going to have to check in at the counter anyway?

Any help will be appreciated.

Joyce

If you purchased through Orbitz you can switch to paper by calling the phone line provided on the site but there is an extra fee for paper tickets. The only difference between an e-ticket and paper ticket (other than not having the paper tickets) is that it is difficult to switch from one airline company to another if your flight is cancelled (but can switch within same airline easily). However, that barrier exists even for paper tickets that are bought with the low discount rates. Orbitz and others do provide the ticket receipt for e-tickets that you will now need to check in. It is not necessary to convert to paper tickets to be able to check in.

Thanks so much for your rapid response. My concern was with check in in light of the new scheme of things.
